Emergency Room Visit!

No, not with my mom.

My son, Eli.

Yesterday while I was at Mom’s and the boys were at home with Dad (a fact I just had to add…) he stepped in some hot embers from a bonfire we had on Saturday.

He has second degree burns on the bottoms of both of his feet!

We were at two different ERs for over 6 hours.

He was quite the trooper. Once the Lortab kicked in, he started feeling much better. We even got some smiles.

These pictures were taken close to midnight.

He can’t walk on his feet for the next five days.

Today he has felt really good, and you wouldn’t even know that he has burns on his feet except that he’s not running around the house!

Please pray for a quick recovery.

Blessings,

(And yes, he should have had shoes on.)

  1. From experience I can tell you, we lose more Mom's in the emergency rooms than we do KIDS! It's hard when they are little, and you can't help much. Do just what the Dr. says and they will heal fine. I've actually worked with kids and burned feet before, had to clean them and redress them in therapy. Best to you and yours.

  2. Oh, that sweet little man! I sure hope that he's light weight for you, Traci…you don't look to be all that big yourself. I'm a pretty big girl, 5'10ish and my little man is down right HEAVY. I couldn't imagine him unable to walk for five days.

You're all in my prayers, I'm sure he will heal very well and quicker than expected :).

    Bless you, sister.

    Love, Heather

  3. Traci,

I am so sorry for your little guy (he is precious!). You must have been scared silly.

We love our bonfires up at the lake, but you know what is the most dangerous? In the morning when you don't see the little embers still burning. And…my dogs love to sniff out the juices of the hotdgos we roasted. Lucky they don't burn their noses off! lol!!

I pray for Eli to have a complete & fast recovery. Bless you too, Mom!!

    xoxo

  4. Oh, Traci! I'm so sorry to hear about your little son! He does look like a trooper. I'm still praying for your mom and now I'll add this little one! Take care of yourself too!
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia;)

  5. Oh Tracie honey,
I am so sorry this had to happen to Eli. God Bless his little heart, and honey I know it hurt you, much more than it hurt him. I will say prayers for Eli and your Mom. Eli will heal quickly, children bounce back faster than anything, you know that from experience. How is your Mom doing? I have been thinking about her and your Dad lately. I hope things are going as well as can be expected. Remember that God will not give you more than you can handle Traci. One day at a time sweetie. Country hugs and love, Sherry

  6. Oh what a precious little guy! Those kinds of things just have a way of happening, don't they? My little brother picked up an ember from a bonfire when he was a toddler. You'd think with 6 of us around to watch him it wouldn't have happened, but sometimes it just does.

    Praying he will recover quickly!

  7. Oh Traci, I'm so sorry to hear this. Poor little guy. Amazing that the embers were still so hot! I always tell Kristen to put flip-flops on because I'm convinced she'll get a nail in her foot if she doesn't!
    Hope Eli recovers quickly.
    (((hugs)))

  8. Poor little guy. He looks so sweet!! We will definitely pray for you guys!!! It is always so hard for me when my kids are hurting and I can't do anything to take it away. ;(

  9. What a cutie! Oh, I know how long visits to the ER can be. I'm glad that these injuries were treatable. It's scary to think how quickly little ones can get themselves hurt, isn't it?

So now we will pray that these burns heal quickly, that Eli's spirits will remain high despite his being immobile, and that Mama can get some rest. God bless you all!

  10. Poor guy! I love the photos though. I just stumbled upon your blog and will be following. I have four boyz too and just knowing you are here will help me. By the way, your saying that says, "If you think my hands are full… you should see my heart." I am so using that!

  11. Wow, when it rains, it pours with you, huh? Poor baby, I hope he feels better soon!
Oh, I took your advice and started a blog… it's still a work in progress, though.
