Landscaping our Back Patio

Hello, ladies!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

I got a lot of work done outside on my back patio, in the heat, and the humidity.  Can you say I was “sweatin’ like a pig?”  :)

This is what the “front” of our back patio looked like before this weekend…

I have always wanted to landscape around this patio, so since I have been making a little money working this summer, I decided this was the time to do it.  :)

There were some limestone rocks embedded in the ground at the front of the patio…

So we pulled those up and cut out about two feet of grass around the patio…

Eli thought this part was a lot of fun!

Then we filled it up with mulch and some plants…

The mulch is wet in this picture because I had just watered the plants.

I was wanting to add some flowers to this part of the landscaping too, but couldn’t find any I liked this weekend.  I’m still looking for some…

We also added new mulch all the way around the rest of the house, and I bought a couple of plants and bushes (50% off) at Lowe’s that I will share later this week.

I also ordered some cushions for the table and chairs that I should get in a day or so.  Can’t wait to share those as well!

Sooooo, that’s all for now.  :)

Have a blessed day!

  1. It looks so nice! Having spent a good bit of time digging this summer, I know how much work you did to make that knew bed. Pretty soon you can fill it in with some pretty mums and pansies.

  2. Looks great! I am sure you will find the flowers that will look just right there soon. No rush, right? good things come to those that wait.

  3. Landscaping can be so rewarding. We’ve been landscaping our backyard for several years now and it is so fun. I love what you’re doing and it looks great.

  4. Traci,

I love the hostas you added. They will fill that space great and add lots of color. I know what you mean about sweating like a pig though. It was high 90’s on Saturday while I was out working in my hard. At least I got the weeds under control though. Can’t wait to see the fun cushions you picked out. Great job, like always.

  5. It looks like you get some nice shade, Traci! Love the bed around the patio, although I don’t do too much of that anymore. More beds means more maintenance for me and I’m still dealing with my SAHM beds that I put in years ago! I’ve been trying to work with the shade around my house though. It has been unusually humid here {although today feels more like a “normal” summer day here}. I love hostas, too, and always love the way pink flowers look with them for some reason.

  6. The landscaping adds the perfect touch. I did similar things this weekend. We got some plants at 75% off at Home Depot and finished off an area. It looks great!

  7. It’s looking WONDERFUL, Traci! Y’all are troopers for working in that heat. But what a great job you did! Can’t wait to see your new cushions. Maybe you can do a complete Before-and-After of your patio when you get it all done!

  8. Love, love, love your beautiful patio. Really like the way your painting on the patio, that looks wonderful. The black furniture really pops. Now you’ve got me excited waiting to see your new cushions. Hope it is soon.

  9. I came across your post this afternoon while browsing interior design blogs and the topic of window treatment selection was very interesting to me. It could truly bring out the beauty of your backyard and show off all the work you put into it. It is true that you must dress your windows appropriately to bring out their true beauty.
