I can’t believe we did it!

I have big news to share over here in my little part of the world!

We put our house up for sale today.

Yep.

You heard me.

My house is for sale!!!

I don’t know whether to freak out or pass out.

We didn’t really plan this.  We are just sort of stepping out in faith to see what God has in store for us.

My husband and I have some dreams in our hearts that cannot really come true unless we take the first step.

So we took the first BIG step and put our house on the market.

Now we are going to watch and pray and see what God will do.  :)

If you think we are crazy for selling our house….

Then you are going to think we are even crazier when you see the house we want to buy….

Stop laughing.

I’m not kiddin’, ya’ll.

That’s the house we want to buy.

It’s was built in the mid 1860’s and sits on a one acre lot.  Oh, did I mention it is halfway torn down?  Minor inconvenience, don’t ya think?

Most people wouldn’t even touch this house, but it’s right up our alley!  The hubby and I are salivating over it!  :)

We would have to restore the house to it’s original exterior design, but we would then be able to build additions to the sides and back.  My hubby will do most of the work.

Please say a prayer that we will be able to sell our house and get this one, if it be God’s will.

What might be even crazier is that I soooo want to buy this house so I can blog about our re-do!!!  It would make for some great posts!  (I know.  It’s a sickness we bloggers have.)

I will keep you posted on what  happens.  It may not work out, and if it doesn’t, we will stay right where we are at.  No big deal.

In the meantime, please help me spread the word about my blog party on Thursday…

I would truly appreciate a shout out on your blog or in a tweet if you have the time.

Please come to my party and bring your best DIY project of September!

Have a blessed day!

  1. Not crazy at all! We would love some land to just keep adding or to have the flexibility to do all that you mentioned…praying that if it is the Lord’s will, it will happen, otherwise He’s got better, right?

  2. Labor of Love looks like! But, hey I could have done the same thing a few years back. Some people have it born in them. Just wondering where you and the boys are going to reside while the labor of love takes place.
One thing about it, if it is the Lord’s will he will make it happen, and no regrets to deal with.

  3. I think we all dream of owning a fixer uppper and making it our own….lol, what I don’t think we think about is all the craziness that comes with it….the unexpected things you find and struggling to stay on budget. God willing, I hope you and the hubs are able to get the house. It surely wlill make for some great posts.

  4. Traci – my dear

Are you feverish??? LOL After all your hard work on your current house, your patio etc??? Girl, you know I am picking at you! GOOD LUCK!!! I wish you much success and I will be right here along for the ride reading all about your adventures fixing it up!

Oh, I can’t wait until thursday! :) See you then – BLESSINGS!

  5. Make sure you keep your heart open for Gods direction and don’t try to break down any doors that are not being opened by Him. That’s my unsolicited advice. Other than that enjoy the ride and know that He knows your heart’s desire and loves to give good gifts to His children =o)
I hope that this home is what He has planned for you and I’m excited to hear how God leads you!

  6. Ha…you are not crazy. My man wants to do the same, maybe just not to the extent you are.
We are considering a major move and may be putting our house on the market too.
Praying for God to answer both of us in a quick manor with a great sale!

    Love and hugs.

  7. Wow. And wow! How exciting for you! It’s so funny- as a military wife, we’re just looking forward to coming back to the States and settling down in one house for a long time, so it’s humorous to me how different we all are as we journey life!

  8. all the work you have done to your current house, i can’t believe you want to start from scratch.
i have faith that you will sell your house, and be able to make this beautiful as the current house. you are such an inspiration to me. i will say a prayer for you and your family to make your journey in life more exciting.. thank you for sharing. it is amazing what i know you and your husband can do with this new house. god bless

  9. You are BRAVE! I think that ‘sick’ feeling stays until the house sells and all is finished :) I’m looking forward to the re-do. Saying prayers.

  10. Hi Traci :-)

You are an amazing person, and your husband, too!!! I believe you’ll get what you want. Your house now is so beautiful it’ll probably sell quickly!!

    Blessings & prayers,
    Kathy in TEXAS :-)

  11. Wow, Traci!! I think that this is wonderful news. I wish that I had “it” in me to follow my dreams that way…I hope and pray all will go well for you and your family.:o) I’ll certainly be checking back to see what happens.
    Have a great week~
    Fondly,

  12. How awesome is that! My hubs and I have talked about selling our new home and buying a home out in the country with lots of acres…but haven’t taken the step yet! Will love to hear all about your new adventure! Very exciting!!

  13. That’s so exciting Traci! I think your house is absolutely gorgeous- inside and out, but I can completely understand the excitement of redoing the 1860’s house. Can you tell us more about it? Why is it half-way torn down? It would definitely be an undertaking, but just think of the finished product! And we would all get to go along for the ride!

  14. I don’t think you are crazy at all. That is something that I have wanted to do ever since I have been following blogs. Oh, If I were 20 years younger. Good luck and God’s blessings.

  15. Have you lost your ever so loving mind, girlfriend?? I am speechless but excited for you at the same time.

I would have loved to do something like that, my husband would have had a heart attack if I ever brought up something like that! :) However, our goal is to buy some land in a couple of years and build a house on it to meet my needs — with me being Deaf, I would like to have the house professionally wired for the lights to go on and off when the phone/ doorbell rings.

Keep us updated and I am really looking forward to you blogging on the “new house”.
If you do sell the house, where will y’all stay at while the “new house” is being rebuild?

    Good luck!

  16. TRACI! Oh my goodness! Wow, girl, you are really something. So you’re teaching full-time, and mothering four darling boys, and now you’re also keeping a house showing-ready? I want to know–what kind of vitamins are you taking??

I totally understand how you feel about that house. Y’all could really build something there. I love my house, but it’s just five years old. Nothing needs to be ripped out and re-done. Sometimes I look around and think, “I’d sure have more to blog about it something needed to be totally remodeled!”

    All the best, sweet girl!

  17. OH ! I am excited for the restoration. Our house was on the market 15 months 2 lookers. Took it off 1 month ago. Appraised this week to maybe refinance and catch a break. Appraised $30,000 less than what the same guy appraised it for 2.5 yrs ago!!! We cannot even talk about it we are sooooo shocked!

  18. To be honest, I don’t think you’re crazy. Dan (my husband) and I have been looking for a dream place. If the land was perfect, the house fixable, and the price is right, we’d go for it. So far, we haven’t found our dream home/place. So, we’re still looking…

  19. I believe you are the “Magic Link” between this house in its current state and how it will be when it is brought back to its original splendor.

Best of luck in selling your home and venturing out on a new journey – may you and your family enjoy the experience.

    Blessings,
    karin

  20. That would be right up my alley too! I didn’t laugh when I saw the picture…I said “YAY!” I love it when people restore old houses. One day I hope to be able to do it! Good luck….I hope it all works out for you!

  21. Traci…if you do get the opportunity to buy this property be sure to allow yourself to be very flexible and go with the flow!

Our 1885 house is a slow work in progress and it can wear on one’s patience. You’ll make it through this adventure with alot of prayers and deep breathes!!!

Your boys will remember helping to create a house with you and their Dad.

When my My Grandparents redid a log cabin way back when they were in their 60s. They turned it into a very nice home…it can be done!

If we could find some ground with an old farmhouse on it I would be very tempted to GO FOR IT!!!

God bless and hope all goes well.

  22. I check out your blog from time to time and just saw that you are putting your house up for sale and looking to buy and rennovate the one pictured. It really caught my attention because I was in a very similar spot a few years back. I also have young kids and the house we lived in was finally where I wanted it (decorated, etc). Came across an older house on a beautiful lot that I coudn’t pass up. Plan was also for a major addition and rennovation. I’m also fairly young, ambitious, and thought I could accomplish anything…no matter how crazy it seemed. Was also very excited just as you are. That’s been a few years ago now and finally just getting the new place to where it needs to be. Even though it’s now a beautiful place and all that I had hoped it would be, it wasn’t worth it in terms of the stress and disruption on my young family. I’m not trying to discourage you, but don’t under-estimate the stress and toll it can take. Enjoy the time you have with your boys cause the years tick by too quick. Just some food for thought. Again, not trying to discourage, but would recommend that you all give this a lot deep consideration and prayer…

  23. WOWIE! Everyone is doin this!(Just saw the big announcement over at YoungHouseLove today). They said the same thing: its a blogger thing about selling and buying a fixer-upper so there are sure to be many new posts:) Im not saying thats why you’re doing this but it is a positive thought:)
Im very surprised but if you and hubby are feeling led by God, go for it. He’ll never lead you to/through something that He cant supply the grace for.

  24. Oh wow! You are crazy! We bought an old house to fix up and it has been harder than hard. I guess if we had money to do it, it would be easier and better. This would definitely be something to blog about! Good luck with whatever happens!

  25. Best of luck with this fantastic leap of faith! You are an inspiration and I cannot wait to see what this next chapter brings you. You CAN do it! Be excited! We are rooting for you in here in MN!!

  26. Congrats on this big step in your family’s journey! Hope your current home sells soon, so that you are able to start the renovation plans on the fixer-upper. All the best wishes!

  27. Okay, so I am a little late at posting, but I JUST found your blog, and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! You have some great DIY projects, and if it is in God’s will (which if you are anything like me, you aren’t patient at all and want to know the end result right away! ((I am working on His timing)) ) you will have some GREAT posts. Prayers are with you!

  28. Congratulations on your new endeavor! Not sure how you feel about this, but when we were trying to sell our last house I planted a St. Joseph figurine in our front yard upside down. Our house sold within a week. Now I’m not saying this was the only reason it sold, but we never thought it would sell that quick. If you do this, you’re supposed to dig him back up and put him in your new yard (although my statue is still in my glove box in the car). Good luck….can’t wait to read your future posts.
