More DIY Fabric Flowers

Hey, gals!

I hope you are having a good week so far.

I wanted to share with you a quick tutorial of how I made my other fabric flowers.

Last week, I showed you how to make a silk/satin flower in this post.

Now I am going to show you the other flowers I made for my burlap curtain tiebacks.

I bought some material from Walmart (about 1/4 yard of each different fabric), and I also used some drop cloth material that I already had.

Then I used a flower shape from my Silhouette machine and traced it onto each piece of fabric.

I washed and dried the flower cutouts because I wanted the edges to look frayed.

The drop cloth material frayed the best.

First, lay your  background flower on the table (mine is black and tan).

Fold the next “flower” in half, not lining up the petals (mine is the tan drop cloth).

And then fold that same piece in half again, but not perfectly in half.

I did that four times, taking a second to stitch each petal in place with some thread in the middle of the flower.  Here is an example of the process with different material…

I liked doing it this way because it made the petals stick up better.

Then I sewed a cute little button that I got at Walmart in the middle.

I added a “hook” on the back of this flower too, and it was ready to hang on my burlap tieback!

This little guy is one of my favorites.

Now I have three cute little interchangeable flowers for my curtain tiebacks!  Love it!

And when you are not using one of the flowers on your curtains, you can pin it to your dress and wear it to church!  :)

Let me know if you give one of these flowers a try!  It really is a ton of fun!
