5 Simple “Lifesavers” {by Chris from Just a Girl!}

I hope ya’ll have been loving all of the guest posts like I have!  I told you I had a talented crew lined up!

And the talent is still pouring in!

Today, Chris from Just a Girl, is hanging out with us!

I got to meet Chris at Blissdom this past January and even got to go “thrifting” with her.

That’s Chris (right behind Layla and me) with the cute pink scarf on!  She is so much fun to hang out with!  (As were all these ladies!)

Chris holds a special place in my heart.  I have followed her blog every since I started blogging.  She would feature new blogs in blogland each week.  If you wanted to be featured on her fab blog, she asked that you email her.  I sent her some info about my blog and nervously waited to see if I would be featured.

Thankfully I was!  But it was on the day, August 28, 2009,  that I posted about my mom suffering with cancer.  The post was called “Liquid Prayers”.  At first, I was upset because I knew tons of “home” bloggers would be visiting my blog that day, and I hadn’t posted about anything “homey”.  But then I realized that it was all in God’s plan.  That was one of my most meaningful posts about Mom, and I had many new followers praying for me during her illness. What a blessing!

My blog has continued to grow ever since that feature.  Thank you, Chris, for featuring me and giving me the encouragement I needed to keep doing what I love…blogging!  :)

Would you believe that Chris works full time as a teacher and still has a fabulous blog?!  She is truly amazing!

Now without further ado…here’s Chris!

I’m so happy to be visiting Beneath My Heart today! Traci is one of the most charismatic people I’ve ever met. Seriously, walk into a room, and you’ll notice that everyone in it tends to gravitate toward her. I also love her blog, so it was a no-brainer when she asked me to stop by!

Because I believe that one of the fundamentals of blogging is sharing information, I thought I’d share with you my “life savers” as I call them. What have I done that has changed my life (besides subscribing to DVR) and what things can I not live without (besides chocolate milk)?

#1. Dollar store baskets.

I use them everywhere. Because they’re so cheap, I tend to buy them even when I don’t know how I’m going to use them. Not the right color? Spray paint them. All of these baskets were originally yellow.

#2. My garage storage unit.

I’m not really sure why it took me so long to utilize my garage as an extra pantry area, but I’ve been giddy about it ever since. And no…it most certainly doesn’t look like this right now.

#3. Pegboard.

It’s so inexpensive, yet so versatile. I use it wherever I can, and it has definitely helped with organization.

#4. Organization station.

Between the (very busy) calendar and the (very full) homework wall pockets, it’s a tie. It’s like choosing which kid is your favorite. Just can’t do it.

#5. Ribbon storage.

Are you starting to sense a theme here? Baskets tend to be a favorite of mine, and this is no exception. I used a Dollar Store basket and used some free cardboard to take care of the dreaded issue of ribbon storage. All is right with the world now.

This list could go on and on, but these are definitely the essentials for me. Like chocolate, I simply don’t know what I would do without them!

Thanks so much for letting me crash Traci’s blog! And thank you to Traci for being such a great lady!

Thank you, Chris, for being my guest!

I am seriously envious of how organized you are!  Especially since I am in a big mess over here at my new house still unpacking boxes!  Ya wanna come help? :)

  1. I love the ribbon idea….I am so going to “steal” that!! I can never keep track of all the ribbon I have….thank you for showing me a fantastic way to store it!!!

  2. Just wondering if you keep canned food in your garage in the summer? We’ve had a week of 90+ weather, and I just told me husband that maybe we should try to store our food in the house.
