Blue Bathroom Makeover – Part Two

CLARIFICATION:  The blue bathroom is NOT mine . It belongs to my friend, Mandy.  We are remodeling her bathroom for her.  Sorry for any confusion.  We do have two bathrooms in our new home that we will be remodeling…just not yet. :)

I hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend!!

I took a ton of pictures over the weekend and hope to share them with you soon.

Here’s a quick update on the progress of the Blue Bathroom.

Of course, we had to get rid of all the “blue”…

So Cy used a pry bar to removed the tile and drywall from around the vanity.

Remember the shower?…

Well, it’s gone too…

Cy installed Durock Backerboard around the shower.  Never line your shower with plain old dry wall, it will eventually mold behind the tiles.

To cover the old linoleum floor, he attached Hardi backer board…

He attached the backer board to the floor with screws….

Around the sink, he replaced the old drywall with Greenboard Drywall.  It is a drywall made especially for bathrooms since it is a room with a lot of moisture.

He used drywall mud over each seam, and then placed a piece of drywall joint tape on top of that…

Then he smoothed it all out with another layer of drywall mud over the joint tape…

After the mud dries, he will sand it down until it is completely smooth.

I cannot wait to show you how it looks now!  Cy has already tiled the shower and glazed the tub, and today he is installing the new sink top and fixtures.   This bathroom will hardly be recognizable!

I also have a video to share with you about the progress.  I hope to do it soon!

But today, I will be busy celebrating this precious young man’s birthday…

Happy Birthday, Jonathan!

You are God’s gift to me!!!
