Tiling the Bathroom

We are coming right along on Mandy’s blue bathroom!

I wanted to show you how we tiled the floor real quickly.  We did this before we glazed the tub, but I am just now sharing it.

Here’s is Mandy’s bathroom floor before we installed the tile….

Because the linoleum was a little lower than the carpet in the hallway, we didn’t have to pull it up.

We were able to tile right over the existing linoleum.

But first, we had to install the backer board…

Cy simply cut the backer board to size and attached it to the floor with screws…

I put together a quick video for you to watch of how we installed the tile. ;)

It includes a tutorial of how to install the tile under the door molding, how to “butter” the tile, and how to install tile in the shower area.

Enjoy!

Here is a picture of the finished tile after we glazed the blue tub…

I hope to share the new bathroom fixtures with you this week too!

Have a blessed day!

  1. This looks so great, Traci! Thank you for sharing the video – I was really intrigued when you said buttering the tile. Cy makes it look so easy!

  2. Looks great! What’s funny is that my parent’s had that same exact linoleum in their kitchen! It’s been covered up so long now I had forgotten what it looked like. It used to get so dirty since it’s textured and has grooves and stuff, we used to get toothpicks or use corn on the cob holders to scrape out all the grime! Yuck! The new floor looks fantastic! And thanks for the tutorial!
