I was so excited when Jeanne told me she was interested in doing a giveaway on my blog!

I love Jeanne Oliver Designs!

My love began about a month ago when I tweeted about needing a camera bag for the Relevant Conference I was going to in October.  One of my friends, Donna, from Funky Junk Interiors, told me to check out Jeanne Oliver Designs.

I quickly found her shop, and it was love at first site! [Read more...]

DIY Project Highlights!

September 28, 2011 AT 4:49 pm 5 Comments

Hey friends!

Before I highlight projects that were linked up to my party last month,

I want to remind you that the Best DIY Projects of September linky party

will go up the morning of September 30th!

I hope you can make it!

There was so much eye candy in last month’s party, that I could hardly stand it.

Here are a few more that caught my eye!

I absolutely love how Stephanie, from The Handy Life,  brought new life to these two chairs that she rescued from a trash pile.

You have to see the “before” pictures of these chairs.  (Click on the picture to view the post.)  She did an amazing job updating them!

Mallory and Savannah, from Classy Clutter, created a step by step tutorial for how to make a beautiful Anthropology Inspired Knotted comforter.

Their blog is full of a lot of cute ideas, so check it out!

Gail, from Gleanings from Gail, show you how she made her So Simple, No Sew Curtains for her living room.

I love how fresh and elegant they look!

MJ (I think that stands for Mary Jo?) from 517 Creations created this Wisteria Knock Off Oak Leaf Pillow, and I think it turned out beautifully!

She has a lot of other fabulous “knock off” tutorials on her blog as well, so stop by and say “hi”.

I LOVE how Sharon from Sharon’s Wanna Be Cottage, added sheet metal to her kitchen island!  Great idea!  Love that red island too!

Can you say gorgeous chandelier?!  I love the way Melanie, from The Frosted Gardner,  turned her brassy chandelier into a real beauty!  Check out how she did it by clicking on the picture.

Please take a second to stop by and check out how Clydia, from Three Mango Seeds, turned an old worn out garage sale find into a beautiful Red Antique Dresser!

I love Leen’s (The Graphic Queen) new mater bathroom makeover.

Thanks to everyone who linked up!  I  cannot wait to see what you have been up to this month!

Remember, the linky party will be up early Friday morning, the 30th!

Shop for Sharlie! {A Very Important Post}

September 26, 2011 AT 6:33 pm 8 Comments

Hey Friends!

I am so very honored to share this post with you.

I received an email from Mique, from 30 Days Blog, about a friend of hers that is in need of some help.

Here is what Mique had to say about Sharlie:

Sharlie is a wife and mom.
She loves to read.
She loves to laugh.
She has an infectious smile.
And the best hugs on the planet.

Sharlie is also awaiting a double lung AND heart transplant.

She is an inspiration.
A fighter.
A miracle.

Jessica (one of Sharlie’s best friends) and Mique reached out to the creative community to come up with a way to raise funds for her impending medical bills.

They created a Shop for Sharlie- full of tutorials, printables, and advertising opportunities. Every single dollar raised will go straight to Sharlie’s Angels. So shop ’til your heart is content. And in return it will help Sharlie get her new heart.

So I created a tutorial on how to make this burlap flower pillow.

The tutorial only costs $5.00. And it will be sent directly to your email.

(This project will never be published on my blog.)

There are also other wonderful tutorials or other items to purchase at Shop for Sharlie.

Would you please stop by there and check it out?

Would you please consider purchasing something to help Sharlie and her sweet family?

This is the best part about blogging!  If we all work together, we can make a HUGE difference in the lives of others.

God bless you!

Autumn Word Art Crate

September 25, 2011 AT 10:45 pm 19 Comments

I LOVE decorating for Fall!

Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to do any fall decorating in this house, and it is killing me!

The house is such a “construction zone” that it just doesn’t make much sense to decorate it.  It’s like hanging a fall wreath on a nail gun air compresser!

But I did make one thing to put outside by my front door.

Mainly because I got this great little wood crate at a yard sale for ONE DOLLAR!

I spray painted it white, and used my sander to rough up the edges.

Next, I applied a layer of my Valspar Antiquing Glaze all over the whole crate.

Then I wiped most of it off with a damp paper towel.  It left just enough glaze to make the crate look old and worn.

Then I used my Silhouette machine to make different types of stencils of some of my family’s favorite things about Fall!

I used adjustable spray adhesive to attach my stencil to the crate.  (Be sure to follow the directions on the back of the can.)  Then I used a sponge brush and several different paint colors to paint the words on my crate.

My painted words didn’t turn out very nicely, but I didn’t really care because I knew I would be sanding over the words,  and you wouldn’t be able to really see all of the mistakes.

After I used my sander to lightly sand over the words to give it more of a worn look, I placed some beautiful mums in my crate and got a few pumpkins to finish off the look.

Here is my cute little crate on my porch!

Isn’t she sweet?!

My boys loved it!  They said, “Aw Mom, those are all of our favorite Fall things!”

Yes, and they are certainly little blessings that God gives us to enjoy.

I have a feeling that we are going to enjoy getting this crate out every year!

And if I want to use this crate at Christmas time, I will just turn it around because the other side is blank.

So that is about all the fall decor you will see in my home this year.  I might try one more little project this week, and if I am able to get it finished, I will be sure to share it with you.

I am subbing 3 days at the boys’ school this week, so  my schedule is going to be interesting this week.  {wink}

Have a great day!

Please Vote for My Laundry Room Makeover!

September 23, 2011 AT 9:38 am 25 Comments

Hey friends!  Happy Friday!

Remember my Laundry/Mudroom Makeover that I entered in the One Project Closer Habitat for Humanity series?

Well, it is time to vote for the overall winner, and I would be honored if you took a second to jump over there and vote for me.

I am #11, and all you have to do is vote.  No personal information is required and there are no hoops to jump through.

The winner will receive a $150.00 gift card to the home improvement store of their choice, and with all the renovating we have going on around here, that would sure come in handy.  :)

I also wanted to let you know about something very special I am participating in next week.  You can read about it by clicking the button below.

Have a blessed day!

Dear Mom, {I Miss You}

September 22, 2011 AT 4:55 pm 54 Comments

Dear Mom,

I miss you so much.

I cannot believe that today marks two years that you have been gone from this earth.

My heart cannot believe it.

So many things have changed.  So many things that I could tell you.

But the one thing that stands out most in my mind is…

Your life made a difference in mine.

The Godly example that you set for me to follow in the 38 years that you were my mom is still leading me today.

And the example of faith that you showed in your last months on this earth has touched not only my heart, but many others.

I will never be the same, Mom.

You have set my mind on heavenly things.

You helped to change my perspective on what really matters most in this life, and I am forever grateful.

Mom, as you faced death, you taught us all to look for God’s blessing through the trials we were facing.  You taught us not to be bitter or angry, but to TRUST GOD to take care of us.

I am still amazed at how blessed we all felt during such a difficult season.  And I am amazed even more by all the blessings that God has sent down on our family even since you have passed away.

And then it dawned on me.  Mom… YOU were the BLESSING!

YOU WERE THE BLESSING!!!

Thank you, Mom.

I have a necklace that I got to remind me of you.  I wear it all the time.

And a song came out this year called, “Blessings” by Laura Story.

The words are so profound and so true, and I know you would have loved this song.

The pain that I have felt since you have been gone has reminded me that THIS IS NOT MY HOME.

We visited your grave site today.

We introduce your first great grand child to you, Colt Allen Rogers (named after you).

He’s perfect.  And  you would be so proud of Courtney as a mom.

Here is a picture of Dad, your son, and your grandson holding your great grandson.

Cory, your first grandson, holding Colt, your first great grandson…

We all miss you so much!  We talked about how you were “one of a kind”.  Cory misses your Sunday afternoon dinners, and your long late night chats.  I miss your apple pies and our talks on the phone.  Cyndi misses you helping her decorate her house.  Blake feels like he let you down those last years you were living.  But I know the truth Mom…you were always proud of him.  And Mom your prayers were answered.  God has healed Blake’s marriage and family.  I wish you could see how happy he and Ande are together.  God is so good.

And Dad says he misses you every day.

I think you would be proud of us, Mom.  We’ve tried to honor God with our lives.  And we’ve tried to honor you as well.

We’re just following the example you left us.

How good it is to know that a mother’s love never ends.  It never stops giving.  I hear your voice all the time, leading me, guiding me, and encouraging me.

Thank you, Mom!

And Mom, I know you heard the good news in heaven last night.  :)  Adam accepted Jesus as his savior last night!  He is so excited, and I know you are too.

I love you, Mom.

I would give anything to hold your hand and hear your sweet voice again.

But until I see you in Heaven again, I will hold you close in my heart.

Studding up the Boys’ Rooms in our New Addition

September 19, 2011 AT 1:29 am 5 Comments

Well, we are chugging along on our new addition!

My husband is busy studding up the walls in the boys’ bedrooms upstairs in the new addition.

It took me FO-EVA to figure out the layout for their rooms upstairs.

The upstairs is basically a 24 foot by 24 foot space.

I desperately wanted to create a Jack-n-Jill bathroom between their rooms, but the layouts kept leaving me with two very long narrow bedrooms on both sides of the bathroom in the middle.

So we finally came up with a floor plan that put the boys’ bathroom in the corner of the upstairs.

When you walk up the stairs, the bathroom will be immediately on the right.

In the picture above, you see the bathroom on the right, and room #2 on the left.

The closet in the middle of the layout will be for both rooms.  There will be a closet door in each room that leads into a single closet.

I’ve been searching for decorating ideas on Pinterest, and I think I have a few fun ideas that I want to try in the boys’ rooms.

I’ll share some more pictures tomorrow.

Be sure to enter to win the dress of your choice from La Posh Style HERE.  The giveaway ends today.
