Little Cost, Big Impact: Decorating with Decorative Pillows
Hi, everyone, I’m Susi and I write as a guest blogger for DesignShuffle.com, a fabulous social media site that promotes interior designers and their work from around the world. One of my favorite things is to visit cool design blogs like Beneath My Heart that focus on great DIY projects and low cost decorating ideas.
I am a little obsessed with pillows so I am delighted to be sharing ideas about little cost, big impact decorating with decorative pillows. Making your own pillows is really simple…if you can sew a straight line, you can make a simple square pillow. And with that skill, the pillow possibilities are endless. Here are some of my favorite DIY and low cost decorative pillows that have big impact. Enjoy!

These charming pillows are all clever DIY projects. Making your own pillows makes these decorative pillows even cost less with the same big impact.
Even apparently fancy pillows, like this elaborately ruffled pillow, can be made by a DIYer. If you can’t sew, your tailor or even dry cleaner may be able to make simple pillows for you.
Decorative pillows can add texture, color and pattern to a sofa, chair or bed. This flower petal pillow is a DIY project from Burlap & Blue.
Etsy is a fantastic source for low cost, big impact decorative pillows. Trendy patterns and designs can be found for less than retail and can often be customized to match your interior design color palette.
Making your own pillows is probably the biggest impact for the lowest cost. Decorative pillows can be made from all kinds of material: napkins, scarves, sweaters, old dresses, tea towels…the list goes on.
Global, ethnic fabrics have a lot of color and pattern. Many times these fabrics can be found at low cost. Other low cost options for pillows are grain sacks, burlap, and yarn for knitted pillows.
A collection of decorative pillows gives this bedroom design so much style. Mixing patterns within the same color palette keeps the group looking cohesive.
Whether you buy, make or have pillows custom made, decorative pillows will add life and style to your room and décor. Add color, pattern and texture with a group of decorative pillows.

Thank you, Susi, for this wonderful post!
Love the yellow and gray together. I have been collecting both colors to mix with cream for next year’s summer bedding. My husband just rolls his eyes when he see’s me sneak in another pillow. I love pillows!~Ames
Oh, those are BEAUTIFUL! I love them all! I’ll be pinning a few!

Hi Traci- Just wanted you to know I spotlighted you today on my blog as one of my favorite blogs!
You are right about throw pillows being an impact in decorating. As one who makes them, I can tell you I never run out of ideas for making original pillows. I love them and have them all over my own home.
I’m having a GIVEAWAY if you would like to put your name in.

These are really nice photos and you have shared good decorating ideas. I will keep these points in my mind while decorating my home. Couple of months back I purchased designer pillows, scatter cushions, bed sheet sets and duvet cover sets from Laura Ashley USA. They provided satisfied quality and good option for products.
