Before And After Kitchen Makeover Pictures {mouse over effect}

Happy Week After Christmas!!!

Are ya hangin’ in there?

My boys are having a blast playing with their Christmas goodies, and I am getting the itch to get things organized around here.  Are you feelin’ the itch?

Before I show you the pictures of our kitchen, I wanted to ask you to check to see if my blog feed is working in your readers.  Some people have told me that my feed isn’t working.  It isn’t working for me in my Google Reader either. The last post shown is from the middle of December, which means some of you may have not seen my last TEN posts! Yikes!  I posted a lot of great stuff these past weeks, so be sure to check it out.

I am having so much fun sharing with you “before and after” pictures of our kitchen.

I can hardly believe our kitchen ever looked like the “befores!”

The following EIGHT pictures have the “mouse over effect” on them.

Just move your cursor back and forth over the pictures to see the “before and afters.”

*You will not be able to see this effect in your email or readers, you MUST click on the post title and view this post on my blog page.  So come on over! Smile

If you were not able to use the mouse over effect, do not despair!  Smile

I am sharing before and after pictures without the mouse over effect in my next post.

See you then!

  1. Amazing makeover! Beautiful!

  2. Liz F says:

I am just drooling over those floors. Mmm mmm MMM! So shiny!! PS: I have appliance envy, too. We live in a rental, and I’m pretty sure our fridge is just about older than I am. OK, maybe not that bad. But we certainly don’t have a dishwasher. Can’t wait till we move into a place of our own…hopefully within the next six months!! And you know I’ll be trolling your blog looking for decorating inspiration, I love that country look! Congrats on the new kitchen!! :)

  3. Liz F says:

PPS: My google reader is working fine, that’s how I follow you. Must be a glitch! Maybe have people unfollow and refollow the blog? Might help.

  4. {darlene} says:

Traci! This is AMAZING! I am soooo proud of you and your big girl panties {and a tad jealous of your handy hubby, and his big boy boxers}. Just sayin.
I know you and your family will enjoy many years of family memories and togetherness in this wonderful space. I am just sure your momma is loving it as well. Be blessed, dear friend!!!!!!!

  5. What a huge difference. It’s so open and seems so much bigger. Are you loving your open shelving? I am.
Love the floors, ceiling, new pantry, counters. Well…everything!

  6. Danelle says:

Looks like something out of a designer magazine… ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS! {envious} : ) Enjoy!

  7. Barbara says:

LOVE your new kitchen, Traci!! I know it had to be a huge hassle but it looks so worth it! During your reno, I checked every day to see if you posted any new pictures because I wanted to see the changes. I love it and am so happy for you. Oh, and I checked those changes on Google Reader and didn’t have any problems.

  8. Katie says:

This may be a really dumb question, but I’m not a very skilled DIYer. You had a hood over your oven before and now there is a microwave. How do you vent the stove? We removed the hood from above our stove because it was very old, gross, greasy and annoyingly low. We found it was not vented to the outside either, so really didn’t do anything useful. We haven’t replaced it yet and I’m inclined not to.

  9. Kristen says:

OMG…this transformation is AMAZING! I’m jealous!

  10. It looks great! I know you are enjoying it so much. It is amazing how much bigger it looks!

  11. Jenna says:

    Beautiful, Traci!!

  12. Teresa Lee says:

    I just love it!

  13. Ok, seriously, it doesn’t even look like the same house! You must want to be in your kitchen all the time! :) Amazing how much all the white brightens things up. LOVE it :)

  14. Katie says:

It’s absolutely gorgeous, but why did you get rid of your island?! I can’t function in a kitchen that doesn’t have an island. If we ever remodel our kitchen, which is unlikely because our house is only a few years old and we bought the best, I will put in a window. I can’t stand not having natural light in my kitchen, and your window is making me majorly green with envy!

  15. Melissa :) says:

Absolutely beautiful! It amazes me how the white paint brightens the room – totally different feel! And I LOVE the shelves & glass doors on your larger pantry!! :)

  16. Jen Lowman says:

The after pictures look like they came out of a magazine! A magazine showcasing “high end” kitchens at that! You guys did an amazing job!

  17. Dianne says:

    Your kitchen is absolutely gorgeous!

  18. Melissa says:

    Gorgeous!

  19. Wow wow wow! You guys had so much work to do but what a great makeover! Night and day. Love the tiles, sink, white and bright and my favourite parts are the ceilings, floors and lack of soffits. Awesome job.

  20. April says:

I love it so much! Can I move in??? ha ha ha. It’s soooo beautiful!
I don’t have a problem with the google reader either.

  21. Alyson says:

I think these have made my big girl panties fall right off! I thought we were just getting brave enough to paint our kitchen cabinets, and now you’ve made my dream kitchen! You guys are amazing and inspiring!

  22. Amazing transformation! I love every inch of it! I can’t wait to meet you at Haven next year!
    Debbie

  23. Tracy says:

Oh.my.word! What an amazing metamorphosis! Love the mouse over effect! I’m blown away that you guys were able to get this done during the holidays! Crazy! Love that red/white. Again…outstanding job!

  24. KFowler says:

Love, love, LOVE! I think about the only thing I’d add is a small island/cart to fill up some of that vacant floor space created by the removal of the old island. But, other than that, I love it all…especially that heavenly subway tile! <3

  25. Layla says:

Traci, it’s absolutely STUNNING! I love everything you’ve done and can hardly wait to see what you do with the rest of the place! :-D

    Love you!

looks beautiful! and no, I haven’t been able to get your feeds, but have been keeping up!

  27. Absolutely gorgeous! I have thoroughly enjoyed following along with your kitchen remodel. I am so impressed with how quickly it all came together! I hope to start painting my kitchen cabinets in the next few weeks, and I cannot afford for it to turn into an entire redo! Ha!

  28. Oh I love it!! It really looks amazing and you did a wonderful job. The floors with the white cabinets are just perfect together. Love how you styled the open shelves!

  33. Tiffany says:

    I.LOVE.IT!!!!!

Really…My house is only a year and a half old but this makes me want to rip out half the cabinets and paint everything white. I am in love with your kitchen!

And, I have been getting all your updates on my feed!

  55. tiffany says:

BEAUTIFUL….but here’s my question. Where are you storing all the gross ugly cups, dishes, etc from the kids? Please tell me I’m not the only one who has “that” cabinet in their kitchen?

  56. Lauren says:

Oh my, this transformation is incredible! Your kitchen appears to have doubled in size! I’m sure you’re glad to have it finished, and before 2012 comes! I love the cabinets without doors that have the baskets–such a nice touch. Can’t wait to see your finished addition…:)

  57. Linda B says:

So so beautiful! It really is perfection. My favorite part is removing the bulkheads and adding the crown. I renovate homes and always remove that bulkhead. Outstanding work. This kitchen feels like the heart of the home. :)

  63. Susan A says:

GOOSEBUMPS!!! Your kitchen is simply fabulous! Taking out the upper cabinets and soffit made such a huge difference. The extra counter space next the the stove will be very handy! The open shelves look amazing with your beautiful dishes. And the pantry is awesome. You and your husband must be grinning from ear to ear every time you walk into that room. He is an amazing man/carpenter/electrician/plumber/etc/etc… But you obviously know that! :)

Enjoy your new kitchen…and now on to the home addition!! Looking forward to those updates, too!
    Susan A

  70. Kristin says:

YAY! I love mouse-overs! How do you do it? If it’s not hard, I might try it with some of my b&a – I only wish I had remembered to take really good before pics. Oh well… Btw. YES, I’ve got the itch. But trying to channel it into working on our Master Bedroom (next project) instead of organizing random closets! Ha!

  71. nikki says:

Wow, that is amazing and beautiful. I would love to see a budget breakdown.

  72. Gail says:

So pretty! Everything looks so shiny! I love everything about it! I think I told you that we are in the process of upgrading our kitchen too. It’s slow, but were getting there. My Christmas gift from my husband was a remodel of the kitchen island. The only problem is, it won’t be finished until this Friday. I’m excited about it! It is made from wood that came from walnut trees cut off our property. I’ve enjoyed watching yor kitchen reno so much. It has helped me with some of my decisions; mainly the subway tile. Love it! I know you are enjoying it so much! Congratulations!

  73. Kathy says:

Looks great Traci. You guys have done a fantastic job. I especially like your ceiling – that was a brillant idea. So now that you’re done – is there anything you would do different or not do the next time? Love how bright the new kitchen looks. Amazing!!

  74. Brooke says:

Are you kidding!?!?!?!? It is all so stunning! I love everything about it! Great job :-)

  75. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The red and white (one of my favorites), the dark floors in contrast, the greens wreath in the window…everything!

And my reader (google) is working and has been pulling your posts just as it should.

  76. Leone says:

Wow wow wow! You guys did an amazing job and I love that you stayed away from doing anything super trendy. Everything looks so fresh and open! This is one of the best kitchen remodels I’ve seen in a long while. Looks like you chose everything so wisely. Fantastic.

  77. Cheryl says:

A few weeks ago your feeds in Google were coming sporatically. I didn’t notice at first because there’s no date posted at the top of your blog posts. Then about 2 weeks ago the feed stopped totally.I signed up for email updates.

By the way, your new kitchen is beautiful! And you are one lucky girl to have a husband like Cy.

  78. Donna Hollingsworth says:

Thanks for posting your kitchen renovation before and after. I live in a ranch style brick house that was built in 1971 and looks very similar to your before (although your before looks better than mine, trust me). Your pictures have given me incentive and inspiration to start refurbishing my kitchen! I absolutely love the clean and open look that you have! My husband will crap when he comes home to me ripping cabinets off the wall but the end result will be soooooo worth it!

  79. Sondra says:

Wow! Love the change in your kitchen…the white with red accents is stunning.

  80. My goodness, what a transformation! You must be so so happy! I can see all the little projects came together to form a massive makeover, wow! From ceiling to floor, it looks amazing, you and your family must be so so happy!!!

    xo
    Kate

  81. Audrey Hennefer says:

You did an amazing job! I love the open-shelving, but hasn’t that impacted your storage options quite a bit. Where did you move everything that was previously stored in the cupboards?

  82. Lou Cinda says:

Traci, you have outdone yourself!!! I know this was a TON of work….but OHMYGOODNESS!!!! It was SO worth it!!! LOVE IT!!!! The countertops and the floors and the cabinets!! It looks custom! That sink! LOVE IT! Sit back and enjoy this (for a day or two) and then I know you will start on something else!

    This is truly gorgeous!

    Lou Cinda :)

  83. Kelly says:

Wow…it’s been a while since I’ve been by…had so much to catch up on. But…you guys have done such an amazing job! I can’t believe the difference! It is absolutely beautiful.

  84. Christy says:

My husband actually found your post and sent my the link. I was trying to convince him that open shelving might work in our kitchen, and thanks to your pictures, he is coming around to the idea! Beautiful counter tops too. Where did you get yours? We have been looking at IKEA for wood counter tops.

  85. Shelli Stohler says:

Was there anything in your bulk heads when you took those down? I adore your kitchen and was wondering do you do any consults….I would love to send you pictures of mine and see what you think.

  86. jeannie says:

WOAH! Amazing. I missed the part about mousing over…and not that the kitchen was horrible to begin with…but I just didn’t see where you were going with this. HOLY MOLY. Beautiful after. Thanks for sharing. That’s a serious before and after. : )

  87. Very nice kitchen. Well done!
I found your website while looking for a way to include in my blog mouse-over before and after pictures. Could you tell me how you did it please?
Incidentally, I celebrated my 25th wedding anniversary on 22 Sept 2009.
    Kind regards
    Nicole

  88. john breeding says:
