My Colortopia {My New Online Friend}

By nature, I am a DIY’er.  (Do it Yourself’er)

I can’t help it.

I would rather build it than buy it.

I love to make it, paint it, sand it, saw it, hammer it, and stain it all by myself!

But there is one thing I don’t like to do by myself…

and that is pick a paint color.

It makes me a nervous wreck!

I will stress for weeks and weeks about picking a paint color for my walls or a piece of furniture.  I search on blogs, I google, I ask my friends, I read magazines, I make piles of color swatches on my table, and I am still a hot mess over picking a color.

So I have been so excited to see some of my blog friends sharing posts about My Colortopia!

My Colortopia has created a quick and easy quiz, that once completed, provides you with color schemes that best fit your personality and lifestyle.

I took the quiz, and here are the color schemes that were chosen for me.
Both of the color schemes included the same neutral tan color, very similar to the color of my blog background.  And my blog colors were chosen from the colors I love seeing and using in my home!

My Colortopia is definitely on to something here! I love how they have matched up colors that go well together.  Now, I can consider using these colors in other areas of my home décor and feel confident about my choices.

My Colortopia provides the names of each of those paint colors for me which make it super easy to find and purchase.

I have been sponsored by Glidden brand paint to write this post but the thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

  1. This is so timely! You should see the stack of color chips I walked out of Home Depot with this week…I actually felt nervous taking so many! They are up all over my house now, and I only feel about 55% closer to choosing a color. I just blogged yesterday about starting out on the front door color. I figure, if I don’t like that, it’s a faster fix than having to repaint a whole room! I can’t wait to try this out. Thanks for the resource!

  2. Thanks so much for this! I hate picking out colors. It takes me forever, because I can’t decide which shade I want. I can’t wait for my next painting project to try this. Thanks!

  3. Oh Traci, I love your blog! Guess what I’ve been stressing over?? Yes, picking a paint color! I walk out with SO many only to add them to my stack at home :) Can’t wait to try this out! Hope you have a great day…. Love and Blessings,

  4. LOVE your blog and I agree that My Colortopia is very helpful. But, to be honest, the most help I’ve ever gotten regarding paint color was from one particular blog. It’s Maria Killam’s blog http://www.mariakillam.com. She helped me understand undertones and why some colors don’t play nice with others. No matter how good certain colors, or color combinations, look you can’t really tell if it’ll work in your home until you see it in context with what’s already in place. Anyway, the blog has helped me immensely. If you check it out make sure you read her articles on undertones. Excellent. And, no, I’m not affiliated with her in any way. Sorry for rambling!

    Have a good week!
