I just spent three wonderful days with my in-laws from Georgia!  We had a house full of loved ones, and it was awesome!

My sweet sister-in-law, Sarah, makes the most delicious caramel popcorn I’ve ever tasted!  It’s a special family recipe.  I asked her if she would make some while she was here, so I could share it with my readers.  She graciously said “yes.”  Smile

This caramel popcorn would make the best snack for any type of get together.  I am going to make some for New Year’s Eve.

Here are the ingredients:

2 sticks of butter

1/2  cup of corn syrup

1 teaspoon of vanilla

1/2 teaspoon of baking soda

Step 1:  Pop popcorn in the microwave and place in large casserole dishes.  Set aside.

  1. I have this exact recipe! Delicious. I made it this year for the first time in several – made 3 recipes, ate almost a whole recipe myself! FYI I buy a huge aluminum turkey roasting pan and can put all of the popcorn in that.

  2. This is one of our Christmas Eve traditions and when we go to Angel baseball games. So yummy! I add peanuts and also make it in a big roasting pan (makes stirring it real easy).

  3. I love caramel corn – I use this same receipe, but I just skip the baking it in the oven step and eat it when it’s all gooey. Happy New Year!

  4. Thank you so very much for sharing this with us…I will surely let you know when I try it….Please may I take this opportunity to wish you & yours the Happiest New Year possible……with all the love and blessings your heart can hold and then some….

2012 has been a very special year for me because I became your friend and I treasure it so very much……
Sending all my love, prayers & blessings your way daily and may 2013 be THE year for you and yours……Our God is Able…..Love you, T

  5. My parents make this every year and give it as gifts to all their friends. Be careful about the temperature on your oven. This year my mom accidentally cooked some at 400 degrees. They quickly realized the problem when they smelled it burning. My dad scraped off the top and ate the bottom. :)

  6. Traci,
Thank you for sharing this recipe! It is easy to make and delicious. Just finished up a batch for tonight.

Happy New Year to you and all those you hold dear to your heart.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  7. This is sooooo good! I haven’t had it in years, but am anxious to dig out my torn and tattered recipe and make a batch. My Mom always made this for us when we were growing up. Thanks for reminding me!

  8. This is my “secret recipe” also… : ) In my circles I am famous for it.
I got it out of an old Church cookbook over 35 yrs. ago. I make it all of the time.
The secret is that it has to be real butter & a few yrs. ago I discovered an addition to my secret.
I used Exrta Butter microwave popcorn, because that was all I had in the house & it was even better. Now that is all I use. I made so many batches over the holidays & my family comes to expect it.
Thanks for sharing & I loved your Christmas, family visit post. Isn’t it fun to all gather together for a few days? We have a lake home & our 3 sons, DIL’s & grandbaby all stayed for a few days.
It was much more fun that just getting together for dinner, to all stay under one roof for a few days…priceless : )

  9. This is soooo good and sooo addicting! Thanks Kathy too for the tip on the extra butter microwave popcorn….will try that one!!
