Please Pray for me Today

Hey Friends,

Remember how I shared with you that I got some unexpected news a couple of weeks ago?

Well, I didn’t want to share too much because I didn’t know how serious {or not serious} it was at the time, and I didn’t want to worry you.

A couple of weeks ago, I had an ultrasound and it was confirmed that I had a mass behind my uterus.

To say that I was a little worried would be an understatement. Of course, my mind went to the “worse case scenario” of what could happen. I knew those thoughts were not of God, and I had to really work hard to “take every thought captive to make it obedient to Christ.”  {2 Cor. 10:5}

And of course, I couldn’t help but think about Mom.  It made me realize and feel some of the thoughts that she possibly may have felt when she got the news of her tumors.  Made me hurt.

Made me love her even more.

The following week, I had to have a CT scan and a colonoscopy {oh joy!} to help determine exactly what the mass was.

It was a scary time in my life, but I will have to say that God gave me a sweet peace.

Last Monday, we met with my doctor to find out the results, and I was so relieved to hear him say that it was a “benign tumor.” {Less than 1% chance it is malignant.}

Whew!  What a huge weight fell off my shoulders at that time!

When Cy and I got home, my Dad and Janet brought the boys to us.  They had picked them up from school.  As soon as Dad saw me, he started crying and hugged me so tight.  He had been so very, very worried about me.  We all felt so relieved!

Today, I am having laparoscopic surgery to remove the tumor {and possibly my right ovary.}

Could you please say a prayer for me and my family today?

I am not nervous about the surgery.  I am just praying for a quick recovery.

Thank you for the prayers that you have already spoken on my behalf.  I know that God hears each one.

I feel so blessed to be able to share all of my life with you…the good, the bad, and the ugly.

****************************

And while you are praying for me, could you please lift my Aunt Sue up to Jesus as well?

Although the news of my tumor has been scary for me, it doesn’t even compare to what my Aunt Sue is facing right now.

Just about two weeks ago, we found out that she has cancerous tumors wrapped around her spine and in many other places in her body, including her bones.  She is in ICU and in a lot of pain.

Aunt Sue is my mom’s oldest sister.  {Aunt Sue is wearing glasses.}

It does not look good for my Aunt Sue, and we do not know how much longer we will get to love on her here on earth.  Please pray for her, her husband, her two daughters, and her grandchildren.  She is so precious to us all!

Thank you, friends.

  12. Traci,
    You are in my thoughts and prayers today and this week as you recover. So glad the news was good. Will be thinking of your Aunt Sue and praying for her as well. My neighbor is battling cancer and we recently learned that it is now in her liver, lungs and brain. It’s just a matter of time for her, but we’ve seen God work many miracles in her life this past year.

  13. Traci – I will be lifting you up in prayer all day long as well as your Aunt Sue. Praising God for placing the right physicians and nurses in place to take care of you. I will be praying for Cy, and your boys too.

    Hugs,

    Marilyn C.

  16. I hate cancer. I will pray for your aunt and her family. I am so glad the tumor in your uterus is benign. Made me cry a little reading about your dad. Life is hard. Thank the Lord for our Comforter.

  17. I hope that everything goes well for you. It is probably never easy to receive news like this but there is something to learn and you will always have someone that knows what you are going through, even if the people around us don’t quite understand.

    I’ll be watching for updates and hope that it’s a quick recovery!

  18. I’m so grateful your tumor was benign, and I will be praying for you, for your family, and for your Aunt. Per usual, I am thankful for your positive attitude and how you always find a way to bring things back to Christ and really live your faith. That’s inspiring to me. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

    Blessings,
    Emily

  19. What a relief to hear that news! I got all teary reading of your dad’s reaction, as I’m sure it was equally terrifying for him as well. So many dealing with The Big C right now – my brother-in-law is going through his second bone marrow transplant for lymphoma, and he handles it all with such grace. I will add your aunt to my daily prayers.

  20. Praying for you today and for your aunt. May God sustain you with His grace and strength and give your family peace. Thank you for sharing your love and trust in the Lord as you journey through life. Your testimony brings glory to Him!

  21. So glad to hear your tumors are benign. You will be in my thoughts today. I’m sure you will heal quickly and get through it fine. My mother had a hysterectomy last year and the recovery time is usually 4-6 weeks. After about 2 she was ready to go back to work but her doctor made her wait 2 more. Good luck Traci!

  22. Praying for you Traci. I am so sorry you are going through all this stuff. I am so happy though that your doctors feel they can remove and all will be fine. If you need any help with posts I would be more than happy to write you some and send them over! Anything I can do, just let me know. Praying for your Aunt as well. xo

  23. Praises to Him for your good news and prayers for your speedy recovery. Also prayers for your Aunt Sue and rest of the family as she courageously fights this dreaded disease.

  24. Lifting you up in prayer, Traci, in hopes of a quick, easy recovery. Special prayers for your Aunt Sue for comfort and peace. Thinking of you all!!

  25. Traci, you are in my thoughts and prayers all day today, and everyday. Blessings to you, Cy, and your boys. :)

  26. Praying for you today Traci. I KNOW how hard it is to “hold those thoughts captive” sometimes. I pray peace for you and your sweet family :)

  27. Praying for a completely successful surgery and swift recovery! We are going through a scary time ourselves. My husband was recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and he will have surgery on March 20th. As you know, that “C” word is a cuss word in our house! As scary as it is, we have been overwhelmed at the goodness of God through this. He is amazing, and I know He has my husband in His capable hands.

    He has you, your family, and your Aunt Sue in them as well. Praying for y’all!

  28. Traci, I’m praying for you and all your family. I know God will be with each one of you. My your recovery be quick and may your Aunt Sue feel God holding her close and taking care of her every need. God bless you!

  29. So sorry. I had the same surgery six weeks after having a c-section. Surgery is never fun, but with your great support system, you’ll be just fine. Praying for a speedy recovery!

  30. Traci, I know you’ve been through a rough time lately. I’ve been praying for you. I’m so glad for the “good report” on your tests. That’s exactly what I was praying. I didn’t share with you at the time, but I had also received some unexpected news like that. In December, I was told that I had a benign tumor on my left kidney. Even though they say “benign”, its still hard to get past the word “tumor”. I understand. I’m praising the Lord that the last test I had showed that it was shrinking. Then…….on Saturday I fell and broke my back! Oh yes! It’s a minimal compression fracture in the L1 vertebrae. So….. I too am seeing a surgeon today. I’ve been in quite a lot of pain but doing ok. I’ll certainly be praying for you, and I know you will pray for me. Hey, maybe we can get together and recuperate together!!!! I’ll be praying for your aunt as well.

  31. I am so glad you found out before the surgery that the “C” word had been eliminated. I had a similar experience just about a year ago and you will be amazed at how good you feel right after surgery…maybe a combination of relief and joy with the best sleep ever under the sleeping drug. I woke up and wanted a hamburger!!!! Of course, life before the surgery was stressful but cured when I woke up and found life marched on. The recovery is very quick but do not lift and follow the docs directions for the two weeks…I was cleared at that point to do anything I wanted. And the first thing I did was lift up my grandbabies!!! I know that God has his hand in your recovery … God Bless your Auntie. Life is fragile and sometimes we just need to chase the joy…I know you have that same attitude.

  32. Oh Traci, I’m so sorry to hear of this! I am hoping and praying that the tumor is benign. I recently had a scare that turned out to be cancer. I’m fine now. The cancer was caught early at stage 1. Please keep us informed!!!! Prayers going up for you!!!!!

  33. Traci – So glad to hear your good news! I have been praying for you ever since you posted about your scare! I will be praying for the doctors doing the surgery and you and your family. I know all of your boys will be anxious. Praying for complete peace and rapid recovery for you. Praying for Aunt Sue also. That’s so hard on a family to have to watch someone go thru that.

    Blessings to you and yours,
    Judy

  34. Hey Girl! I am praying for you so much right now and in the days and weeks to come! So glad the tumor was benign! But I know having surgery and having to recover all the while wanting to take care of your family is tough. Please, please know we are praying for you daily!!!

    1. We are also lifting up your Aunt Sue right now. We’re praying for peace, comfort, and for her to enjoy her time here with you guys.

  35. I prayed for you this morning. You were on my mind. I will pray for you today and for your Aunt. Much love to you and your family.

  36. I am praying for you both! I just went through something similar as you. When I was 9 weeks pregnant they found a huge tumor on my right ovary. Scary! It was a hard time for me as they were worried about it rupturing and possibly needing surgery during my pregnancy. I am so thankful that God carried me through an otherwise healthy pregnancy and delivery. I had surgery to remove it successfully when my sweet baby girl was 5 weeks old. She is now 4 months and we are doing great. I wish you a speedy recovery!

  37. Praying for a speedy recovery and for your whole family and Aunt as well. May God hold all of you in his loving arms during this time.

  38. I am praying for both you and your Aunt. While there’s life there’s hope, but life does carry on always if only in another guise. We just have to recognize it. I hope you recover quickly and I’d do anything to help although I live in Cincinnati. CTD

  39. My thoughts and prayers are with you Traci, as well as your Aunt Sue. Give yourself time to heal both physcially and mentally. I had a benign tumor removed from my breast and until ithe surgery was done, I was nervous. It feels so good to have something foreign and evasive removed. It calms your mind. I’m so sorry about your Aunt. Never fun to see those we love, suffer and pass away. Sending love your way!

  40. Even though I am new to your blog, I feel that I know a lot about you and your sweet family. I will be praying for you and your aunt sue.

God and your mother will see you through this. Luck doesn’t have anything to do with getting better, but God will raise you to good health. God Bless you and your family and Aunt Sue and her family.

  51. I saw 98 comments and I just now thought, Oh Lord, you gave her followers, you gave Traci an audience whom she could ask Please will you pray for me? And I am home, lonely, disabled, and Lord you knew in advance I’d have time to pray for this woman of faith, so uplifting to others, who loves You Please Lord heal Traci quickly. Let the surgeon easily remove the entire mass and keep her healthy. Help her boys to be good and helpful. Thank you she has a loving Dad who got to hear good news today. For her Aunt Sue, help her to sleep and not feel nor remember the pain. Give her loving gentle nurses to help her feel better. Be with her not to fear. She feels so sick and its hard for other emotions to even set in. Comfort her. Bring her gentle hands to wash her brow tonight. Lord this is a lot. And be with my hubby as he goes to his cancer doctor that though his counts rise and rise, and a lump grows, that this be nothing to worry about. Help us to claim You as Lord of it all in Jesus Name, Amen

  74. I am very late in responding, but wanted to let you know that I am praying for you, your family and your aunt. I had a very close friend pass away this week from cancer (hence the delay). Thankfully, he knew his life was coming to an end. His faith was very strong and gave his life to Christ very early on in his fight. Keep your faith and know God will only give you what He knows you can handle. Your blog inspires me every time I read it. Thank you for all you do.

  75. I am glad you are recuperating. I wrote here before sending you prayers and good wishes. It’s amazing they can do this laparoscopically…so much faster recovery.
    I’m writing now to ask if at some point in the future, if you feel up to it, you might share what led you to seek a medical opinion in the first place. Many things that were previously thought to be without symptoms until later stages, they now realize have them, just more subtle or different to what one might normally worry about. So many times people put off going to see a Dr., rationalizing it’s just a getting older pain and will go away. I’m just wondering what your symptoms were. I know it’s a very personal thing, but you have such a wide audience that it may help someone avoid something worse. Hope I haven’t overstepped.
    I hope you are taking time to “enjoy” your recovery and accept being pampered a bit, as I’m sure your five guys are very solicitous of your well-being.

  76. Traci, your are in my prayers today and always. Glad you are feeling better. I know a full recovery is only a short time away. I was saddened to hear about Aunt Sue. I lost my own Aunt Sue when I was very young and she was my favorite so I know what you must be feeling, with her in such need of the Lord’s comfort right now. I will pray for both of you in the days to come. Know that you bring so much joy to others through your blog and we sure do appreciate your posts. Thank you for sharing your wonderful news and your family news with all of us. God Bless you! xoxo Deb
