Our Office Makeover Has Begun!

Happy Monday!!!  I hope you had a great weekend!

I wanted to pop in real quickly and show you the progress we are making on my office.

I won’t be on the computer much today because I will be busy painting and doing more work in my office.

Just a reminder of what this space used to be…this was an 11×11 ft bedroom that we were turning into my office/craft room.

First we turned the closet into a craft supply area…

Now we are tackling the rest of the room.  This room has been a dumping ground of stuff galore!  It has made me a nervous wreck!

We cleared out the room and ripped up the nasty carpet and have started creating my new desk and window seats.

I am so thrilled with how it is turning out!

Cy has already trimmed everything out and we have painted and caulked it all.  I will share more of that with you soon!

But here is a sneak peek…

I cannot wait to decorate this space!  YAY!

And then I am going to GET ORGANIZED!!!

Yes, I am!

Is anyone else feeling as disorganized as I am right now?

  1. Perfect timing! I’m just getting ready to start building our built-ins for my craft/quilt studio. Cy always makes it look so easy! My poor husband does not have a great relationship with wood. Might just have to hire Cy :)
Can’t wait to see it all finished!

  2. Great start…really looking good! You said you ripped out the carpet. Did you replace it with something else before starting the built-ins…can’t tell from the pictures?

  3. The closet looks great!
I am ten thousand times more cluttered than you…
What did you do with all?

  4. Looking great! Can’t wait to see the finished project. You all have so many projects going; closet make over, your office, Jonathan’s events, chicken home, and who knows what else. You and your family are an awesome and I feel you are a friend. Thanks for all you share. God Bless.

    1. Yes, we do have a lot going on, Shirley! This time of year is always so crazy for us, even without our DIY Projects. :)

You are my friend, Shirley. Your comments are priceless to me!

  5. The closet looks great and the rest of the room is going to be amazing! I can’t imagine having an “in house” carpenter! My poor hubby has other redeeming attributes, but a handy person he is not! Can’t wait to see the end result once you get your clever decorating hands on it.

    1. I am grateful for my carpenter. :)

I’m sure your husband has qualities that I would wish for my husband too.

      Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Hi Lisa!
The chickens are doing GREAT and getting so big! I removed the stitches from Eli’ lip today, and it is looking so good. I was worried it would look worse, but it has healed nicely.

      Thanks for asking. :)

    1. Thank you, Lynne! I hope to get it finished this week. Well, mostly. :)
I won’t have it completely decorated yet, but I should be able to put my computer and stuff back in there.
      Yay!

  6. Wow. I gotta tell you Traci, That Cy is worth his weight in gold isn’t he! He can do anything! You are one lucky woman!!! =)

    1. I haven’t had much luck at Hobby Lobby for office stuff. It’s been harder than I thought it would be to find stuff I like for my office. {Let me know if you get this reply in your inbox. I still don’t think it is working.}

  7. I totally understand! I am in the middle of a big organizing project and was just thinking, “Gosh, it takes a whole lot of disorganization along the way to create an organized space”. Crazy! Can’t wait to see all your organization tips and tricks!

    1. Megan,
It scares me to look back at some of the messes I have created while doing projects in my home. It is seriously embarrassing!
But I know that there will be a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow if I can hang in there. :)

      Thanks for stopping by!

  8. humm….I have an empty room now. We have toyed with the idea of home office, which would be wonderful since I work from home and typically have to settle for a quite corner in my the room that is supposed to be a formal dinning room, but in the 27 years we’ve lived here, it never has been that. Right now it’s my son’s man cave/ my office. Not so fun on days when he is home.
You have lit the fires of inspiration. Can’t wait to show my hubby when he gets home tonight.
You’ll be the topic of conversation at our dinner table tonight :)

  9. This is so exciting! You were one of the inspiration for my craft closet makeover – which I will be posting on one of my blogs soon. I’m currently painting the rest of the office to make it a his & her office. Excited to see your finished project!

    1. Thank you, Rachel! Please let me know when you post your closet on your blog. I would love to see it! :)

      Blessings,
      Traci

  10. That looks AMAZING!!! Love the design concept. Can’t wait to see the end result!! Man, what I would give to have your Hubby for a week!!!! ;)

  11. Hi Traci – I was wondering what type of wood your hubby used to build the desk/window seats. I am going to attempt to make myself a desk for my studio. I was considering MDF. would plywood be better? what thickness is it? I am going to paint it.

I know you will probably do a tutorial/supply on this later but I can’t wait to get started!

    Thanks so much,
    Tracie ;-)
