I got a new job!

Well folks.  It is official.

I will be starting a full time job next Wednesday.  I will be a teacher assistant in a kindergarten class at Eli’s new school.

school

If you have followed my blog for a while, you know that I have my Masters in Elementary Education, but I have been {mostly} a stay at home mom since Jonathan was born.

I had planned on getting back into teaching once my boys were all in full day school, but then this whole blog thing happened four years ago, and it has changed things.

Sometimes the Lord still tugs on my heart to go back to teaching.  Or maybe it is just a yearning to work with children in some way.  I do lead the Awana program at our church on Wednesday nights, and that definitely helps me get my “kid fix.”

We are at a stage right now, that it would really help my family out if I worked this school year.  You know Cy became self-employed in February, and as great as his business has been going, it has been a struggle to stay a float.

We are so blessed that Cy has been busy with jobs since he went out on his own.  However, with any start up business, there are a lot of start up costs.

So it would really help relieve a little stress from Cy if I could help out with health benefits.  Working for the school system will provide good benefits for our family.

Cy has worked so hard for 14 years to carry the financial burden of our family himself so I could stay home with the boys.  So I cannot hesitate to take this opportunity to help him out at this time.

I will be assisting in a room full of precious 5 and 6 year olds.  I cannot wait to love on them each day.  And I sure I will learn more from them than they will from me! Smile

Eli will be in the same building with me, so that will be awesome too.

It’s going to be an adjustment for me, but I know I can do it.  I appreciate your prayers for me and my family.

I am planning on keeping my blog up.  Right now, I usually post 5-6 days a week, but that might change to 4-5 days a week.  Well, see…

I love that I get to share this news with you.  It’s funny how when “big” things happen in my life, my first thought is, “I can’t wait to tell my readers!”

You guys are such a big part of  my life, and I love you to pieces!

Thank you for always encouraging me and for being such a HUGE blessing in my life!

xoxo

  1. Congratulations to you, Traci! Those children will be lucky to have you in their classroom. I hope the transition to going to work outside the home goes well and blessings to your family!

  2. Congratulations Traci! How blessed and fortunate those precious little ones will be to have you in their classroom each and every day. I’m sure it will be a transition from staying at home, but probably less hard work! LOL

    Good luck!

  3. Traci, I can’t think of a more perfect job for a working Mom, so you will be off when your kids are off and that will be nice for you. Congratulations on your new job, I wish you the best for you and your family.

  4. I think it is so great that you are showing such support for your husband by going back to work. I’m a retired kindergarten teacher and I can’t help but think of how I would have loved having you as an assistant in my classroom. The kids are going to love you. Congratulations. I can’t wait to hear all the precious stories.

  5. Sister, you are nothing short of a big ball of DY-NO-MITE!!! You keep rockin it, and surprise us with all sorts of 4-1-1. Sending you good vibes and big blessings! You are amazing…

I am Dawn Rene in the ATL!

  6. Congratulations Traci! It’s wonderful that you will have a job that you love, working with kids. It will definitely be a challenge at times, but you have good kids and a good husband, so you will work through the problems that arise when a mother has a job outside the home. Even though at times it will be tiring, it will also be exhilarating, so enjoy this new adventure in your life!

  7. CONGRATULATIONS. I do not recall whether your boys are in public school ?? This is something that I must admit I have thought and prayed about for your family with a new business and the healthcare dilemma our nation is facing. It is nice to know that I was not in my what my granny called a worry wart stage. Gods blessings on this and for cooperation from your lovely family.

  8. Wow, Traci! That is big news! My Mom taught school for over 40 years and the last 20 were in Kindergarten. She would have been lucky to have such a wonderful Assistant like you! Congrats and I am also glad that God opened this door for you and Cy right now. Starting a new business is never easy so at least you will be doing something you love and you will get to be close to your babies too. Prayers for a wonderful school year for you and the boys.

  9. Blessings and prayers from our home. You are the answer to many of those children that do not get loved on at home. I have always thought that your heart is so big that you can spread that love to the end of the earth and now you are adding love to precious children. A marriage is made of 2 people and a 50-50 deal and with the love in your family you will be a good example to your boys too. I will not say good luck but God’s blessings to you and your family.

  10. Congratulations Traci! Wishing and praying for a great year for you and your family. God bless you as you step out in faith. His blessings are so wonderful when we walk in obedience. That classroom will never be the same!!! They are all blessed to have you :)

  11. Congratulations! This is terrific news. I was a nursery school teacher and even though I have been retired for 3 years, I still miss it. Kindergarten is such a great age to work with. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you to enjoy it.

  12. Isn’t God amazing! And right on time. And giving you a job doing something He knows you love. Big Congrats! What a blessing you will be.

I have a friend that is a para-pro in the school system here in GA. She told me not long ago that her heart aches for the littles in her class. The stuff they see and say is shocking. She said she knew that sometimes the love she show them is all they ever see.
They are so hungry for love and someone to love them back. Broke my heart.

  13. Well…I am now sponsoring 2 little boys, Yeremi and Wilbert, because of your blog! So God is using you. They are both 3. Have fun in the classroom!

  14. What a blessing you will be to those little ones. I spent a few years working as a substitute aide and put many hours in the middle school office. What a need there is within the school system for caring adults. Praying for you as you step into this new season of life.

  15. Congrats Traci, you deserve it all. And not only will you enjoy the work with the children but it will also take a little burden off your hubby. Good for you, will we miss your blogs or can you keep your 5 MEN, home, yard, work, and blogging and crafting up…. God Bless you and congrats again.

  16. Congratulations! It sounds like a good fit for everyone. Please stay on the right side of sanity and take care of yourself. Posting 4-5 times a week, though nice for your readers, might be asking a little too much of yourself, at least at the beginning. I know you will find the perfect balance that works best for you and your family.

  17. You will be wonderful! Those kiddos are gonna love you:) And you’ll be rockin’ the place in your stitchfix outfits!:P

  18. You have such a sweet spirit Traci… you will be a wonderful teacher! I know that you will shine His light each day in the classroom just by being who you are and will be such an encouragement to their little hearts. Plus you are sooo creative and will add lots of ZEST to the classroom!! : ) Glad that you will still have your beautiful encouraging blog… you are a blessing!

  19. Congratulations on your new job1 As a working mother I loved working for our school district. I was an aid to three special needs children at different times in my life. I loved working with them and I also loved that I had off the same days as my boys. Summers were great. Those little kiddos are going to be so blessed having you in their classroom each day. Good luck!

  20. I know from very personal experience how absolutely incredible you are, and I’m SO happy that there are some more “munchkins” who will get the chance to be loved by you! :-)

  21. Congratulations on the new job. I too have recently gone back to work full time after being a stay at home mom for 15 years. It’s a huge adjustment but somehow you make things work. Sending you love as you begin this new chapter.

  22. I am happy for you but happier for the children because they will have you with them. I went back to work approximately 20 years ago, part time at first when my youngest was in grammar school. I went full time 17 years ago and retired this past April. Because I worked for a municipality, out health insurance was wonderful. When I retired, I kept my insurance and my husband has it also which will help so very, very much. I think my husband will retire next April and I cannot wait for that. Incidentally my youngest son will be 31 at the end of this month so it has been a while for all of us. Good luck!

  23. Congrats! It is a Big big adjustment but why so many of us work for school districts we get to help financially without giving up being stay at home moms. I started as a school librarian when my youngest was in 5th grade and was a great way to work but be off anytime they were. Good for you you’ll be great!!

  24. Congratulations on your new job. Those kids will be blessed to have you in their classroom. Best of luck to you, I know it will go well. Hugs and prayers sent your way.

  25. Congratulations my friend!!! I will definitely be praying as you walk thru the doors on Wednesday – count on it! Will continue to pray for Cy’s business to do well too!

Yes, these kids will definitely be blessed to have you. Can’t wait to hear the funny stories you can share!

    Blessings,

    Marilyn C.

  26. God is good that way!! I always wondered how I’d get rehired as I’d be expensive w/masters plus years but God worked it out.
I’m so glad for this may someday allow you the door opening you’ll need as a highly qualified (expensive!) teacher to get that full time job!! Congratulations. Oh it’s your first day of school. What outfit?!! That’s the best thing too!!!

  27. Oh, Traci, what a blessing for you and yours! The schedule will be awesome and you won’t have the full planning responsibility of the lead teacher, so this is perfect for you! And, of course, the school and children are so very fortunate to have your loving spirit among them. Children of today are so in need of that! Praying that all goes smoothly in the weeks and months ahead.

  28. Congrats!! That is one lucky kdg teacher to have working with her!! I am a retired teacher so I know how essentail the assistant is to the class. What a wonderful way to work yourself back into the working world.

  29. Congratulations on your new position! I can only imagine how thrilled your cooperating teacher is to have an experienced teacher as her assistant. The kids are lucky, too, because there’s really two teachers in the room.

I also teach and know how hard it is to manage a blog and working and I know you’ll be good at doing both.

Good luck and I hope you have a fabulous year.

  30. Congratulations! What a blessing you will be to those children. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless!

  31. Congrats on the new job! So exciting … and exhausting. I’ll be eager to hear your tips and strategies for how you do it all! I am always feeling like I’m a day late and a dollar short, lol. I took a job with the Air National Guard so I could provide affordable healthcare for my family. But that is only part-time. I so admire you for your energy, motivation and enthusiasm. Keep encouraging the rest of us. We CAN do more that we ever thought possible. ;) Will be praying.

  32. You will be a wonderful help to the teacher and the kids.

And please don’t feel any guilt if you don’t write blog posts as often. You will have much to do at home and with your family – and that comes first!

    Blessings.

  33. Congratulations Traci!! You are an awesome wife and mom. Blessings in your new adventure. Remember not to push yourself to do too much. We’ll be here. <3

  34. Congratulations to you Traci! It’s exciting you get to do something you love. It will be hard at times to learn how to balance being a working mom, but you will be blessed! Your heart is in the right place.take a deep breath and enjoy the journey! You will be a blessing to those sweet children!

  35. Congratulations and bless your heart! Having 2 boys in and around that age, I am amazed with any teacher around that age and their patience :) I know you have a heart of gold and are so compassionate, so you’ll do just fine. Best of luck to you this year!

  36. Congratulations Traci! The children are fortunate to have you in their classroom. I wish you the best as you move into this new season of your life. I’ll be looking forward to seeing what God does.
