Soooo, now that the boys are back in school, and I have more time at home to get stuff done, it is time for me to tackle some Fall Cleaning!

I really love cleaning, and I am always looking on Pinterest for new cleaning tips{But I just love doing cleaning more when no one is in the house.  You know what I mean?}

One thing is for sure, I love having the right tools to get the job done.

I got a new vacuum cleaner a couple of years ago, but I have never really liked it.  It was big, bulky, and a pain to drag around.  It was also super messy to empty.

It also died on me a few weeks ago.  Friends, living in a house full of boys, I have GOT to have a working vacuum cleaner!  Smile

That is why I was so happy when the stars aligned and the angels sang the day I received an email from BISSELL about trying out their new PowerGlide® with Lift-Off® Technology.

The timing couldn’t have been more perfect!!!

The dirty truth is that my house needs a good deep cleaning.

Here are the areas of my home that I cannot wait to clean with my new BISSELL vacuum…

1.  My Kitchen Drawers and Cabinets.

2.  Under the cushions of our sofa.

3.  And our stairs.

It’s going to be so much easier to keep my stairs clean now that I have the BISSELL PowerGlide® with Lift-Off® Technology.  I will be able to easily carry the vacuum up the stairs with me like this…

Oh yeah, Baby!

And here are the areas in my home that I sometimes forget to clean that I will be focusing on with my new Bissell PowerGlide® with Lift-Off® Technology.

My computer keyboard…

and my vents…

Oh my gosh, I cannot believe I am showing you these pictures!  And they have my watermark on them!  Ugh!  You better not pin any of these! Smile

  1. Makes me like your blog even more when you keep it real. I may not have human kids, but replace the “kid dirt” with cat hair from 2 black cats and a dog that never seems to stop shedding, oh and a husband that contributes his fair share. :) I can TOTALLY relate to preferring to clean more when no one is home.

  2. oh my my DEAR, and you are having dirt too…. I am sure your blog today made many of us Homemakers feeling a bit better that we do not just find certain unexpected things under the cushions of the couch etc…… And I so agree with you, that having the right tools and cleaning
agents (and we really do not need a whole lot of them, just the right ones for the various jobs….
I have to admit though I do not do Fall cleaning, because I do not have kids at home anymore.
So Fall for me is getting the garden front and back ready for winter, which means usually a lot
of cutting down, having the landscapers help with some of the larger or higher jobs, like trimming a 7 ft high hedge and the larger trees…. Then I usually go through the closets and drawers in fall, and move winter/fall to the front and summer/spring to the back, get the boots out etc.
The other type of depth cleaning I do in the Spring as soon as the weather is pleasant enough to open windows and doors…. But that’s just me…. with the kids in the house and out for school I did it differently as well.
    Enjoy your spiffying up…

PS quick question, Mom’s usually teach their girls some of the cleaning chores, like dusting,
dishes, folding laundry and such and other, will your boys have to take part too or not really,
they may have other chores to do right?

  3. It’s okay Traci we kind of already suspected that a healthy “normal” household with four active boys would not be perfectly clean all the time.
That’s what always kept me sane in my housekeeping….I just kept shrugging my shoulders and saying; “I have kids and dogs”, But now our nest is empty, I have no excuses,
I still love seeing your house pics, dirt and all :)

  4. I am with you on so many levels when it comes to your photos!! drawers, computers and sofa “stuff” I cannot figure out how so much yuck gets into the sofa. On area I am a stranger to is under my king bed!! Ugh…I have to do it now that i mentioned it. Enjoy your Bissell.

  5. Cat hair!!!! Yikes!! The main problem for me is I have to much stuff to put away BEFORE I can get to the actual cleaning. I think More of you for keepin’ real. CTD

  6. OH HONEY, YOU HAVEN’T EVEN SEEN DIRT! I LOVE MY BISSEL LIFT OFF. THE BEST VACUUM I HAVE EVER HAD. I STARTED BUYING MYSELF DECENT CLEANING TOOLS LIKE I DESERVE AND THIS WAS THE FIRST ONE. THAT THING WILL PULL THE FLOORS UP AND IS WONDERFUL IF YOU HAVE FUR BABIES.

  7. As you are cleaning it’s already started getting dirty again where you first started. It is quite helpful not having anyone home while you’re on a cleaning frenzy because you might actually get to sit down for a half hour or so to enjoy it. Be grateful you don’t live out in the boonies with a bunch of sagebrush and dirt and winds blowing sand or snow in every crevice possible. I’ve got a couple Bissells and they work great, but I go through vacuums like no tomorrow. In fact I have 2 others I need to bury. Of late I’m enjoying the good weather and could care less about anything inside. So my house not only is uglier than yours inside because I don’t have a motivated hubby, it is a heck of lot dirtier. It’s OK though–when winter hits I’ll catch up.

  8. Let me know if you need to test your new cool toy on black dog hair, instead of white. I can totally hook you up on that one :D Love your crazy real self, Traci!

  9. My home is is a mess right now too – treads everywhere! I’ve been doing alterations – last week is was bride’s maids dresses – threads galore! Must get at it! Enjoy your new Bissel – they are great machines!

  10. I love that you keep it real! This is why I love love love reading your blog. I have those hidden messes too. I blame the kids and husband!
