Favorite Pins Friday!

First off, thank you so much for your very sweet and very encouraging comments on my post yesterday.

I told my husband that I announce my weight on my blog, and he didn’t believe me.

Then he said, “Did you really?!”

It was then that I thought, “What in the world did I just do?!!!”

But then I read all of your sweet comments, and I felt like I had the courage of 10 men!  I’m so glad I told you guys, because I think you are going to make me stronger through all of this.

So many of you helped me through my mother’s passing four years ago, through my financial struggles, through my surgery this past year, and on and on.

You have been a constant source of encouragement to me and you honestly make me a better person.  Smile

So I am going to stick with this new eating program, and I will let you know how it goes.

I actually took some “before” pictures today.  UGH!  I’m hoping that motivates me as well.

I’m hoping that I will be able to lose weight, feel healthy, and share it all with you!

Today, I leave for an overnight Women’s Retreat with my church.  My first big obstacle in this new eating journey.  I’m going to try and take some food with me to help deter any urges.

I love drinking cokes in my car while I’m driving, so I know I’ll be missing them on this trip.  Lots and lots of water is my goal!

Well, enough of that.

Here are my favorite pins from Pinterest this week!

Enjoy!

  1. My new fave drink since I quit caffeine is lime water with a teaspoon of stevia! Limes are relatively cheap and the juice of 1/2 lime in a 20 oz glass of water is SOOO refreshing!!!!! The stevia gives it just enough sweet to feel like a treat! Give it a shot!!!

    1. the lime or lemon is so good for ones system. regulates digestion and is so helpful if there is any nasal sinus issues

  2. Hi Traci,

I’ve been folllowing your post for several years. Thank you for your inspiration and for sharing your stories of your Mom. For our family the change in eating habits came with a diagnosis of my cancer. My kids have done a complete change in what they eat (one is in high school and one is in college). I can’t tell you how happy and relieved I am that they have made those changes. This past November my doctor recommended I start a new way of eating (no sugar, low-fat, very little processed). We eat mostly poultry – ground turkey in everything (no ground beef) and our “junk food” now consists of pita chips and hummus and organic granola bars. The only time we buy dessert is on birthdays and we buy the smallest cake the grocery store has.
I will be praying that this will not be just a diet for you, but a permanent change for your entire family. You all can do it! Good luck!

  3. Praying for your overnight retreat! Our women’s group at church used to do those years ago and they were a lot of fun.

    A scripture for encouragement:

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Phil 4:13

    Hugs & Blessings to you

  4. I think ts great you sterling the whole 30. I have never read up on it, but any step to cleaner eating is a good thing. You will feel so much better when you give up the coke and chocolate. I know it’s hard. I am not going to lie. I went gluten free a couple if years ago because of intestinal issues. That meant giving up lots of my fave desserts. Of which I now don’t even miss. You can do it. I am cheering you on!

  5. Hi Traci, You are a very strong woman and I know you will meet your goal. I will be praying for you. My weakness is Dr. Pepper (and Mexican food). It took me a while to convert to water, but I did it (I treat myself to a Dr. Pepper about once a week). I enjoy putting a cinnamon stick and apple slices in my ice cold water and let it steep for a little while. I have heard (but don’t know if it is true), that this will help with your metabolism. I just love the taste. Thank you for sharing your journey.

  6. I’m so glad I found your blog and your post!

I never heard of Whole 30 before, but this past July I ate that way for the whole month. It was the best thing I’ve ever stuck with to help myself feel better to take care of my family. Like everyone else, my life is full of challenges in parenting, health, work, etc… . The two months since July have been full of changes for our family that brought us away from home, so I didn’t stick with this way of eating, but I’m ready to go back to it. Thank you for sharing your goal! God bless your efforts! Mary
