My WHOLE30 Update

Well, a week ago Thursday, I told you guys about my new eating plan.

Whole30.

Today is my tenth day of being on this new eating plan, and I can say 100% that I would not have made it this far if it wasn’t for YOU!

I am SO glad I confessed my weight to you guys and told you about my plan.  Just knowing that I was going to have to give you an update on my progress has completely held me accountable.

I have not had a McDonald’s coke in 10 days!  That is a downright miracle!!

I also haven’t had any sugar, dairy, or breads.

But it really hasn’t been that difficult.  {Besides the Cokes.}

I have eaten delicious, healthy meals 3 times a day!

Here is a quick explanation of Whole30:

We believe in Eating Good Food.

Our recommendations are based around the framework of a Paleo Diet, with a focus on health, not history.

We like to put a positive spin on our nutrition plan, focusing on all the foods we do eat (instead of what we don’t).

Whole9′s Nutrition in 60 Seconds

We eat real food – meat, fish, eggs, vegetables, fruit, healthy oils, nuts and seeds. We choose foods that were raised, fed and grown naturally, and foods that are nutrient-dense, with lots of naturally occurring vitamins and minerals.

This is not a “diet” – we eat as much as we need to maintain strength, energy, activity levels and a healthy body weight. We aim for well-balanced nutrition, so we eat animals and a significant amount of plants.

Eating like this has helped us to look, feel, live and perform our best, and reduces our risk for a variety of lifestyle-related diseases and conditions.

I’m still learning about this way of eating.

I should have read the entire book first before starting, but I was just too excited about it.  So I am kind of reading more about it as I go along.

If you try Whole30, I highly suggest you reading the book in it’s entirety.  They offer a lot of recipes to help you have a wide variety in your meals.  I’ve pretty much eaten the same stuff every day that I knew was safe to eat.

This week, I look forward to making some of their recipes because I think there are some that even my whole family will like.

I’m very excited about trying these recipes.

Have I lost any weight?

YES!  Definitely!

I don’t know how much, though, because I am not allowed to weigh myself until the end of the 30 days.

But I can definitely feel the difference in my clothes, which is exciting. Smile

I look forward to weighing myself at the end of this program.

I read in the comments that some of you may be joining me on this journey, and I am so happy!!

Please keep me updated on your progress!

P.S.  Champ is doing much better!  He is staying at the vet this weekend and will be home on Monday!  Smile

  1. I finished my first Whole30 a few weeks ago and am now eating Paleo. I love it!! I’m down 30 pounds and went shopping for new clothes today. I feel great and enjoy my food. The first week is the hardest, so you’re golden now! I’m so glad to have taken control of my body back!

  2. So excited to see that you are loving your new way of eating! You are inspiring me to maybe try this too… Also glad to hear Champ is doing so much better!

  3. Hi Traci,
So glad to read that Champ is on the mend – praise the Lord! It sounds like you are making great healthy choices for yourself and I am sure you will be the better for it.
    Thanks for the inspiration,

  4. Yay! I am so proud of you for making it to day 10! You introduced me to Whole30 and my husband and I started on Monday. We are on day 7. I bought the book the night before we started, but it took me the whole week to finish reading it and get to the part about what to eat and how. Looking back, it would have been an easier week to have read it first, but reading it during the hard week helped keep me on track. This morning we had an egg, pepper, and spinach scramble with salsa, cooked in coconut oil. It may be my favorite meal yet. Good Luck! And Yay!! for Champ!

  5. So happy to hear about Champ, Traci! What a little trooper!
And I am getting very encouraged by this Whole30 program. I cannot wait to hear more updates! I don’t drink soda but I can only imagine how hard that must be to give up. Ten days – wow! You are doing great!
    xo

  6. So happy the Champ is on the mends. It is great that you have made it to day 10 and only a few days till weighing time. God Bless

  7. Traci, I am so happy for you. I would have to sneak and weigh myself. :). Do you drink coffee? You must, because I don’t know you could do it without the caffeine! I am addicted to diet soda. I don’t know if I could give up my only source of caffeine AND have the withdrawal at the same time. Let me know how you are doing this.

  8. You can do this–it is a lifestyle, not a diet. Great news about Champ–I pray you can enjoy him for many more years to come!

  9. Yay for feeling better! I found that losing weight made me feel physically and emotionally better. It just lifted my spirits. And I’m so glad Champ is doing well!

  10. I so glad Champ is getting better! I love the sweet pictures of you two.
Stay strong on the Whole30. I am inspired by your journey and want to do something similar. I have already started cutting back on carbs, chips, etc, and just drink one Diet Coke a day, mainly for the caffeine, but I think I could give that up.
I don’t know if I could wait 30 days to weigh, though! :)

  11. whole30 changed our lives. literally. we had a myriad of health issues. we’ve been eating clean for about 6 months now and feel like we were handed a new lease on life! keep up the good work! it will pay off!
