Green Buffet Makeover
I wanted to quickly show you a makeover I did on a makeover.
It’s my new green buffet.
It didn’t used to be green. It used to look like this in our previous home…
But that was what it looked like AFTER I gave it a makeover.
Here is what it looked like in the very beginning when I bought it from Goodwill…
And here is Eli when he was two helping me sand the buffet. I. am. dying.
You can read about how I painted and glazed the buffet {the first time} HERE.
We have gotten a LOT of use out of this buffet, and we have used it in our kitchen, den, laundry room, and bedroom at one time or another.
It was showing some wear, so I decided to give it some new life with a new Annie Sloan paint color that I have been wanting to try, Florence.
It is a very bright color, but I have seen it used before, and I knew that applying dark wax as a finish would turn it almost green in color.
So I painted the buffet one evening. The thing I love about Annie Sloan chalk paint is that it dries very quickly.
After two coats, I applied some Annie Sloan dark wax.
I am TOTALLY not an Annie Sloan expert, but I just applied the wax in small sections at a time with an Annie Sloan wax brush. If you do not have a brush, a lint free cloth will work just fine.
Then I used an old cloth to rub the wax off. I rubbed off as much as I wanted to get the look I was after. I give the wax a good scrub until it shines a little.
That’s it! How easy is that?!
I bought some white knobs from Hobby Lobby at 50% off, which came to about $6.00.
Then I added a few Christmas decorations, and I love the way it turned out!
It’s a bright color for me because I usually stick to neutrals, but I am enjoying the “life” it brings to the room.
So there’s my buffet makeover-makeover.
Isn’t it fun to change the look of a piece of furniture with just a can of paint?
Have a blessed day!
BE-U-TI-FUL! I had painted my front door in Provance during the summer but changed it because it was a bit to bright. I should have tried the dark wax on it! And what a cutie Eli was! They grow up so fast!
Love the new make over of the buffet! I’m loving the color choice as well. Wouldn’t it be fun to add some horizontal shelves beneath that drawer space?? I’m sure you could style that up nicely!
It looks so cheerful and Christmassy!
I’d this technically a desk!
***oops. IS
Nope. It’s a buffet. :)
It’s too tall to be a desk.
Who cares if it is a desk or buffet
It s a multipurpose piece
Love the color and overall results
Thank you!
Looks great! I love the difference between it with the dark wax and without. What a difference!

Agreed! Thanks, Heidi!
Love it! :)
Great looking piece – good job!! Would also love to know where the chalkboard print came from or did you make it yourself??
I downloaded the chalkboard print from dearlillie.com.
Then I made a frame for it.
Great color choice. It looks amazing!
Thank ya, sweet Susan!
Looks amazing. I love the personality the green brings out. I think I need to follow in your footsteps!
Thanks, Angie. I was scared to do it, but I’m glad I did now. :)
I thought that looked familiar! It really adds a bit of je ne sais quoi! the perfect foil for the decorations and looks to be very functional as well.
I love how you took an old desk and turned it into a buffet. A great idea and love the new color!
I love the makeover…..and the color.
Fab job my dear.

I am looking for the adorable chalk pictures with this wood framing! Do you know where I can find one? Do you make them?!
Hi Amanda! I purchase my chalkboard printables from dearlillie.com.
I love what you did to your buffet, the color is amazing! I am going to paint my lower kitchen cabinets with Florence and have a question for you… Did you add old white to the Florence or just use straight Florence before waxing? Thanks for your time!
You DID NOT have to sand. I would love to do my cabinets but too many to sand. Thank you
I DID have to sand the first time, Dorothy, because it was a very old piece and had a varnish on it. I also was using a regular latex paint on it.
I did NOT have to sand it when I painted it green because I used Annie Sloan chalk paint.
Thanks!
With AS dark wax I was told I had to use the clear wax first befor using the dark and I’ve always done it that way. You used only the dark correct?
I love it!!! I’ve always been scared of color but this inspires me :) Thank you for sharing!!
