I’m going to California with my Sister! {and StitchFix!}

Y’all, I am so stinkin’ excited about something!  I’ve been dying to tell you!!

In three short weeks, my sister and I will be headed to San Francisco, California!

{Notice who is Grannie in the picture.  hee.hee} Smile

Yep.  My sister, who is terrified of flying, and I will be loading up our stuff and heading to California.  I’ve already promised to knock her out if she starts panicking on the flight.  Ain’t nobody got time for that!

We have never flown together.  {And our Dad is not too happy about it.}  SmileAnd we have never been to California.  And we’ve never be on a trip by ourselves together!

What another incredible blessing our blogs have afforded us!  {I know Mom would be so thrilled!  It makes me think of this post I wrote, “Mama says, Take Care of Your Sister.”}

I cannot wait to spend 5 days with just my sister!  She is my best friend, and we laugh until our stomachs hurt when we are together.  She gets me.  And I get her.

We are traveling to California to tour the facilities and meet the wonderful staff at Stitch Fix.

Cyndi and I both LOVE Stitch Fix, although Cyndi blogs about it a lot more since she has a fashion blog.

Stitch Fix is a personal styling service.  You can sign up to get your monthly “fix” of five items of clothing.  You keep what you like and send back what you don’t.

Here are a few items that I have gotten in my boxes and kept lately:

My favorite piece is the red and white chevron shirt that I am wearing in this picture…

{That’s me and Leslie, from House on the Way.}

And I love this new green sweater that I recently got and wore to church with my gray dress…

I also love these other pieces they sent me…

I’ve got about 20 more pieces of clothing from Stitch Fix in my closet, but didn’t have time to take pictures of them all.

My sister loves to shop for clothes, but I do not.  I do not know if something is stylish or not.  But I can tell you the best way to stain a table!  ha! Smile

So I depend on my sister and Stitch Fix to keep me in style.  I love that Stitch Fix knows what I like because I filled out their Style Profile, and I love that they send me the most current trends in fashion.  Takes the stress out of shopping for me.

If you would like to learn more about how Stitch Fix works, you can read the post I wrote HERE.

  1. I live in California (Orange County) but have been to San Francisco, fun city! You’ll have a GREAT time!

  2. I was born and raised in California! And live only 40 minutes from San Francisco. You are going to love it!

  3. I was born and raised in Anaheim Ca. The home of Mickey Mouse. Moved to a town just outside Sacramento 14 years ago. I’m about 2 hrs from SF. CA is so big and is so different from the beaches, deserts, and forest. Enjoy SF!

  4. I live in the LA area but I loooooove San Francisco and the Bay area. It’s like a different state. You will have a great time!
    (PS if your sis is that terrified of flying, have her get a low dose Rx of Xanax. It will totally calm her down.)

  5. We lived in Monterey for 15 months on military assignment- loved the area! San Francisco was a lot of fun, too. Rick Steve’s has a great guide book for SF- worth looking into.

  6. I was born in SF!!! (Walnut Creek, actually.) and many of my relatives still live there. Be sure to visit the “Big Trees” just outside of SF. It’s an amazing experience. Don’t miss China Town either. You are going to have a blast!

  7. I’m more than a little jealous! HA! I love trips and sisters and fashion! Sounds like a blast! Enjoy every minute!

  8. I live in Encinitas, CA. It’s along the coast about 25 minutes north of San Diego. You are going to have so much fun with your sister!! I cherish the times my sister and I get together (she lives in Michigan)! Just be sure to check the weather forecast….bring some warm clothes….it can get really cold and windy in March in San Francisco……don’t forget your gloves. ;) Hugs for both of you!

  9. I have been to SF twice and it’s my favorite city! Hope you get to Chinatown, Ferry Plaza Farmers Market, and if you have time, Muir Woods. You and Cyndi will have so much fun!

  10. Pack Layers!

    I am here in San Francisco, and while we may be in “California” Its still a bit chilly ( ok not yourrrrrr kind of chilly ;-)

    Enjoy your trip! :)

  11. You will definitely need to pack layers for SF. The weather can change greatly from one hour to the next. This trip sounds like so much fun. Hope you have a great time. Make sure you mention you have a cement pond in your back yard if someone remarks on your accent. I am from Georgia and when I visited Seattle and Vancouver awhile back, they just looked at me like I had an extra head. I finely realized that they thought my southern accent meant I was stupid! I wanted to tell them I had earned two master’s degrees, but instead I became MORE southern and just tossed in more southern phrases like calling everyone Sugar and Darling, then I would throw out a big fancy word. Sugar, can you tell me if this is supposed to represent a look at the hidden agendas of women in the 21st century, or do you think maybe it could be a parody of how men are emasculated by women’s independence? Oh Darlin’ I am so disappointed to hear that. I WAS hoping for something a bit more scholarly. I was looking for something to keep me interested when I sit out by the cement pond. What is even funnier is they really believe you have a cement pond. LOLOLOLOLOL

  12. Traci,
    You have the spunkiness and quirkiness that I just love.
    You and your sister remind me so much of my sister and me. I’m the baby. And together, we just click. I couldn’t even imagine flying to Cali. ( I’m the scaredy cat but she isn’t) and our mom would be laughing at us too I’m sure.
    Your going to have a blast!. .. And get some cool new duds , be sure and share pics!. ( I am not a clothes shopper but my sis is). I stick to the house domestic thing. I’m a newby at following you ( about a month I think)., I found you from Leslie S’s. Site. ( love her too!) and hey, we’re all from the south or Sec,. Lol,.
    Well, take lots of pics and grab some cute clothes for us to see. And tell the sis to just take a chillaxin pill and enjoy the ride. :)) congrats!

  13. Go to the piers. I believe its Pier 49 where Forest Gump Restaurant is and lots of shops and sea lions sunbathing on the pier. And of course ride the trolley car, hanging on with one hand. This grandma just had to do this several years ago to make.our trip complete. You two will have a ball.

  14. I’ve never been to California so I am jealous. I know you will have a great time. Can’t wait to hear all about the trip.

    God Bless.

  15. Sounds so fun! We lived in Monterey for 18 months and LOVED it! San Fran is fun too, but if you have time in your schedule, I would highly recommend the 2 hour drive down the coast to Monterey. You won’t be disappointed. But,if you can’t fit that in, at least drive a little bit south on Highway 1, sit on the sand, and revel in the awesome sight of the Pacific–rejoicing in God’s creativity as Creator. Have a great time!

  16. Go to Pier 23 restaurant (was featured on Diners, Drive-ins & Dives) – it is amazing!! Take comfortable shoes – you will walk a lot, but is an amazing town. We went there about 1.5 years ago & had a BALL!!

  17. I currently live here in SF! You are going to have a great time. Just do all the touristy stuff.. Since you will kick yourself if you don’t visit the Golden Gate Bridge or Lombard St!

  18. Oh Traci. So exciting for the two of you. I was almost peeing in my pants ova here about the airplane! Poor Cyndi. You girls will have a blast. I’ll be praying about that flight! Keep us posted :-)
