BSHT Favorite Room Home Tour

favorite-room-edition-graphic I am so thrilled to be participating in the Blogger Stylin’ Home Tours!  It is hosted by Lindsay from The White Buffalo Styling Co., (who is an absolute doll!) It has been fun seeing everyone’s favorite room in their house.   If you are coming from The DIY Playbook   blog, welcome!  And if you have never  visited my blog before, then you need to know that I am the mom of four amazing boys!  They are my world, along with their father! Smile

So as you would expect, it is ALL THINGS BOY around my house.  And I love every minute of it!  (Okay, except for the smells.  Ahem.)

This past year, I was finally able to finish my two oldest sons’ bedroom.  They are now 13 and 15 years old, and I wanted their room to look more “grown up.”  No more dinosaurs or trains.  (insert frowny face)

To get the look we were going for, we built two sets of industrial shelves on opposite sides of their long, narrow bedroom. We started with Jonathan’s shelves.  He’s my music guy, so we built his shelves to have a place for him to store his guitars.

I made rolling storage crates to go under the bottom shelf for Jonathan to store some of his extra stuff.  I shared how we built these shelves in THIS POST.

We built Luke’s shelves a little differently and had them extend over his bed. We didn’t plan it, but we ended up decorating with a “travel” theme on Luke’s side of the room.

I also made some rolling crates on Luke’s side.  I painted on some numbers in bright red and added rope for a handle.  I love these crates, and you can see how I made them HERE.

One of my favorite items on Luke’s side of the room is the large EXIT sign that I got at Hobby Lobby.  It points right to his bedroom door.

We live on five acres in the beautiful state of Kentucky, and my boys do a lot of exploring in the wooded area of our property.  There is nothing better than boys exploring the beautiful outdoors, so I had to get this “Explore” sign for Luke’s shelves.

In the middle of their room is a long wall between two windows.  I knew I wanted to put a desk in this space for them, but didn’t know what kind.  I finally (after two years) decided to go with this Sawhorse Desk.  The boys absolutely love it, and I do too!  I love seeing them use it each night to do their homework.  You can see how I made this desk HERE.

It has been so much fun bringing this space together.  It is truly a one-of-a-kind room that my boys will be able to enjoy for years.

The next room that I will tackle is Adam and Eli’s room.  I have some fun  plans in store for that room, so I hope you stick around and follow along.

Next on the tour is Sarah M. Dorsey Designs!

  1. Hi Traci,
What a great room for 2 boys. Loved everything you did, very clever and very
useful, as well as cool for teens.
Good work Mom! I am sure your boys must love it. Looking forward to seeing the other room too.
    Blessings, Nellie

  2. Love your boys room! I just discovered your blog and will definitely be visiting again! I too have boys (2 of them) and love to create, paint & decorate and also have a blog.:-) We also live on about seven wooded acres where we all enjoy the nature surrounding us.
