We meet our girl today!
Today is THE DAY! And I am dying over here!
Today we will meet our sweet little girl!
She is currently traveling a 14 hour trip from Eastern Europe to the states. We will be picking her up at the airport. We have our “Welcome” sign ready and will be getting some balloons. :)
Her little “Sophia the First” bag is packed with some girly essentials, and our hearts are packed with love and anticipation.
Her room is ready.
I wish we knew exactly what to expect, but we don’t. She may cry when she seems us, be extremely shy, or a ball full of energy. She may receive our love easily, or she may have walls up to protect her little heart from more hurt. We do not know. But we DO KNOW that God has His hand all over this. We know HE put this desire in our hearts to bring her into our family. We know it was HIM who handpicked this little girl for our family. We know that HE is greater than any earthly challenge we may face, and HIS LOVE can heal our hearts and mend a million broken pieces. Some may think that we are going to be a blessing to this little girl, but I know that she will be a greater blessing to us! It is going to stretch us and teach us so much to have her in our home. It may not always be easy, but it will be worth it. The boys are BEYOND excited to have a “sister.” I know they are going to spoil her to pieces. :)
We appreciate your prayers so much! Above all, please pray for our little girl. I can only imagine what she is feeling coming to a new country to stay with a family she has never met before and who speaks a language she doesn’t know. My prayer is that she would immediately feel our love and feel safe with us.
I am planning on using Periscope at the airport!! Do you know what that is? It is an app that you can follow me on (follow beneathmyheart) and you can watch live video that I am filming. I am going to be filming live before the orphans arrive and when they get there. I will not be able to film our girl individually (because of her country’s child protection laws) but I can film the children as a group. :)

Oh Traci! My eyes are filled with happy tears for your family! What an awesome family she is coming to stay with. I’m praying her heart is open and she is peaceful with this process. I can’t imagine all the emotions you all are feeling!!! Praising God for this wonderful opportunity for this little girl to come to know Jesus as her Savior….,because she’s staying will you all!! Amen, Lisa! Our family prayed together before we left this morning, and our main goal is to share the love of Jesus with this little girl! We talked about how it will not always be easy, and there may be difficult times, but God is going to grow us and her at the same time, and it is going to be awesome to see what God does in ALL of our lives! Thank you so much for being excited with me! :)

Ha! I know! I loved watching Kevin and Layla in Haiti, so I decided to try it tonight. My family is exciting to join in and watch. :)

Traci, I have been reading your blog and following you on instagram throughout your journey to host a little girl. I am unclear on whether or not you are adopting her or just hosting her. Are you not concerned about her getting attached and having to leave and the anxiety it will cause her? I may be incorrect in this assumption, and if that is the case please let me know! Thanks!

It was awesome watching your family’s excitement as you waited at the airport for the kids to arrive. I hope your little girl has settled in ok – her room is just gorgeous. I also live in a house full of boys – even our 2 cats are male – so it would be lovely to have a chance to do some pretty girly decorating.

I am just thrilled that God gave you this precious little girl. You and your family are true representation of what it means to be Christians. I agree with you that your goal is to lead her to a faith in Jesus Christ and to give her the joy and comfort of home and family that she so richly deserves. BRING ALL THE LOVE ON!
