Meet Sania Louise!

Hey sweet friends!

We have been home since Saturday afternoon, and I am still trying to get my bearings.  :)

But I wanted to stop in and introduce you to our daughter, Sania Louise Hutcherson!

sania louise

Her first name is her birth name, Sanija, but we took the ‘j’ out.  Her name sounds like “Su-nee-a.”  (It’s like you mush Sun and Sophia together.)

Her middle name is a family name.  Cy’s grandmother’s first name was Louise, and his mom and sister’s middle names are Louise.

Louise means warrior.  And our little girl is a fighter for sure.  In her short nine years of life, she has had to fight against the rough start she was given.  She is strong and fierce.  Sometimes her fighting spirit can get her in trouble, but directed in the right way, this girl is going to move mountains!

The boys are ecstatic to have her home!  She is soooo spoiled by them.

We have a “new normal” around the house.  I can definitely feel the difference in having one more child in the family.  Sania Louise has developmental and emotional delays because of her rough start to life, so it is a little bit more like have a new toddler in the house.  :)

She is doing GREAT at learning English.  We are amazed at how quickly she learns.  She is so smart!

Right now we are just settling in and trying to get into a routine around here.  Each day we see improvements in her behavior.  She is starting to understand this “family thing” and is definitely a daddy’s girl.  Did I mention that she already has Cy wrapped?!  I mean, like BIG TIME!   She adores him, and he adores her.

I’m planning on sharing more in a future post with you, but right now, I am so swamped with our “new normal” AND planning out the final details Haven which is in three weeks!!  (It’s the big blog conference that I help put on each year in Atlanta.)

The BEST way to keep up with our family happenings is on Snapchat.  If you do not follow me there, please do.  Just search for “Beneath My Heart.”  I share photos and videos throughout the day of our family.

Have a wonderful week!!

  11. Aren’t all daughters wrapped around their Daddy’s hearts? I can see why your beautiful little girl has Cy all tied up. Blessings for your sons who have such open hearts for their new sister, your daughter who has her forever family, and you and Cy for your boundless love…

  12. I am so happy for you and your family. We have 3 boys and I always wanted to adopt a little girl but it was just too expensive for us. We had the love but didn’t have the money. Now our boys are all grown up – still NO grandchildren – but that is another story. Enjoy each other and I will remember you all in my prayers.

  13. You see, Traci, God’s timing is ALWAYS perfect. Praise be to Him through all blessings flow. You’ve adopted this precious child into your family, just how God has adopted us into His family through our Salvation & the blood of Jesus.

    Doni

Please give us specifics, like you’ve done, for us to bring to the Lord for all five of your children (!).
My prayers this week will be about Sania’s behavioral & cultural differences. I am so very happy for you and all of your Boys, especially the grown one :-)

  18. Wow…what a very long road you traveled (not just in miles, but in your hearts) to finally bring Sania home. What a lucky and beautiful little girl. One day, when she’s a grown young lady, she’ll be able to read HER story and she’ll know how hard you and Cy fought for her!!!!! Best wishes to you all. I will look forward to your future posts!!!!

  19. I can’t even… I have been holding my breath for so long and I am just so happy for you all. I know there are challenges ahead that will require more patience than you ever thought possible.
Sania could not have a better chance at a new start on life than with your family. She has always been a daughter of God – so very loved – and now she is also a Hutcherson. What a very, very lucky and loved little girl. She is so beautiful, Traci!!! xoxo

  20. Isn’t God awesome!? All those times of the unknown and disappointments, and He has answered in His timing and glorious way!! I am so happy for you and your family. Sania is beautiful and beautifully blessed to be a part of your family. She especially looks like you and Jonathan!!!

Enjoy the early times of getting to know one another…and Haven.

I sure wish I could go!

  21. I believe Claire said it all. With your love and strengths and God’s help, all will be fine. So happy for you. And continuing to pray for you all.

  22. Congratulations! I am so happy for your family and especially for your sweet girl. I’ve gotten behind on my blog reading so this was such a fun surprise to see pop up on my email today. I’ll be praying for a smooth transition and lots of joy for your family!

  23. O happy day! I usually look at your posts on my phone. Today – fired up my laptop to see a full size pic of your beautiful little one. You will hear this over and over – but she looks like you:) Will continue prayers for her transition to this new world. My step-daughter teaches Pre-K in an under-served district. When the students come to her, she has to teach them how to sit in a circle. Some of the kids don’t even know their name (for example, at home everyone called them “booboo”). Anyway- in just one school year, she is able to teach them so much – you will too.

  24. God Bless you and your family for You are now complete. I’m so very happy for you, your family and your new beautiful girl.

  25. Congratulations on your sweet new girl! I have thought of you often during your process & hoped & prayed that someday she would be yours permanently. Great update.

  26. I was on pins and needles waiting for this post! Praise the Lord and He is good all the time. I don’t doubt there will be some challenges ahead so continue to lean on Him and seek his guidance. I will pray for all of y’all for strength, patience and understanding during this period of adjustment and settling in to this new normal. Sania has so many people loving her and praying for her; she’s a lucky girl.

  27. Yay! So happy for y’all! How wonderful that the Lord has found parents for Sania who will love her, cherish her, fight for her, and show her the love of Jesus!

  35. Traci, I am so happy for all of you and am pleased to get to ‘know’ Sania. No doubt as she grows in the security of her forever family, she will blossom. 40. Oh Traci, what wonderful news. I remember how saddened you were but still accepting of God’s will when you thought it was not going to happen at all. You have been rewarded for your constant faith and belief, and your little girl has been blessed by having such a loving and stable family to join. God bless you all in your journey and many happy years ahead.
