My New Laundry Room has Walls! (and the new garage has a few too!)

Hey guys!

I wanted to pop in today and show you the progress we are making on our new laundry room and garage!

It is an absolute mess outside, and the boys have been tracking in a ton of dirt in the house, but I know it will be worth it when we are all finished!  This is what the slab for the garage looked like when we first had it poured.

Cy was anxious to start studding up the walls in our laundry room, and he tackled it in one day.

He had some help from the boys…

Eli wants to be just like his daddy!

Luke and Adam helped some too, but I wasn’t home to get pictures.  Jonathan is 17 now, and is a huge help to Cy, especially since he knows what he is doing.  He has been helping Cy build things since he was a little boy. :)

I wanted a large picture window in my laundry room above the mudroom sink because I wanted my laundry room to have a LOT of light.  My current laundry room is small and dark.

This door from the laundry room will walk out to a covered walkway that leads to our new garage.

The covered walkway will have a tin roof on it like the barn in our backyard.screen-shot-2016-09-21-at-4-42-36-pm

And it will lead to our two car garage.  Cy has already gotten all the walls up since I took this picture two days ago.  And next week, he is hoping to start framing the bonus room on top of the garage.

Now I am trying to pick out the picture window and door that I want in my laundry room.  Of course, the ones I really want are waaaaay too expensive.  ugh.  So I am trying to find comparable less expensive versions.  :)

As a side note, it has been seven years today since my mom passed away from Stage 4 gastric cancer.  I can hardly believe it!  It was the same  year I started my blog, and I cannot believe how much has changed since she has been gone.  I miss her everyday, and I think she would be so proud of my boys and her new granddaughter.  I took Sania Louise to my mom’s grave today, and I told her how she was the best mom  a little girl could ever dream of!!    Many of you were following my blog when my mom passed away, and I loved sharing my Wednesdays with Wanda posts with you every week the following year.  Y’all have walked many roads with me over the past seven years, some wonderful, and some very difficult, but I am grateful for your constant support and encouragement.

xoxo, Traci

  1. Y’all are an industrious bunch for sure! What a lovely addition this is going to be. My Mom died 8 years ago Dec. 1st of a massive stroke and I miss her every day. There’s just no one like our Moms. Lovely post!

  2. Thanks for the update, glad to see progress moving along.

Yes it’s hard when we lose our Mothers. I lost mine 30 plus years ago, I was a young 28 year old. She died of cancer. I have missed her so much all these years and I know she has missed all the things that have happened with me and my family. But we’ll see them again someday in heaven. Sending hugs!

    1. Hi Kathy,
All of the stories of my mom are in the hyperlink in this post. Just click on “Wednesdays with Wanda” at the bottom of the post to read about her story. :)

  3. I can’t wait to see it all finished! Looks like it’s all coming along nicely. I lost my parents 22 years ago to a car crash. I miss them dearly.

  4. Wow – you are so blessed to have a husband who can do all that building. Your laundry room is going to be the envy of everybody — including me. Your house has come a long, long way and it is just lovely.

It’s hard to believe I’ve been following your blog for seven years. I remember when your mom passed away. You were so blessed to have a mother like her, and your little girl is blessed to have her influence through you. I love reading your Wednesdays with Wanda posts.

I’m looking forward to seeing your new additions finished and polished with your amazing decorating skills.

    Blessings to you all.
