2 {Easy} DIY Curb Appeal Projects!

Happy Monday, friends!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. :)

This time of the year is when we all get a lot of work done on the exterior of our homes, and it is also the time of the year that I get the most questions about two of my most popular DIY posts….

How to Build a Window Box

AND

How to Build Board and Batten Shutters

Both of these projects were completed in 2015 during a Lowe’s Makeover Project near Nashville, Tennessee.

They are super simple to make, and they make a huge difference in the exterior of your home.

This time of year, these two posts start getting a lot of traction on Pinterest and Facebook, and I always end up with a ton of questions about them, so I thought I would share them again with you.

We stained the window box and shutters for the Lowe’s Makeover, but for our own home, we painted them Ebony Fields, by Valspar.  The picture below is BEFORE we built our two car garage on the other side.

This summer, I want to focus on finishing the bonus room above the garage and landscaping around this new space.

What summer projects do you have on your “To Do” list?

  1. Question – do you think window boxes would look out of place on a semi-contemporary ranch? I love them, but don’t want them to look odd/out of place. I really only have two windows I could use them on, one is my laundry room window, and it is on the side of my house – but easily seen coming down the street. The other is my master bathroom window and it is on the rear of the house – that one would be for me :). All my other windows go all the way down to the ground or they are “French” style doors.

  2. Of course they would be the most popular. Everyone loves the show Fixer Upper, and they put those shutters and window boxes on most of their renovations.

  3. Sania is so sweet enjoying the simple things in life. You are blessed to have her in your home reminding you daily of this. God is Good. Love your shutters and window boxes.
