Legacy of Grace

My sister and I have been talking a lot lately about GRACE.

The grace that God shows us, and the grace that we can show to others.

It’s not always easy to accept God’s grace when we don’t feel worthy of it.

And it’s not always easy to share God’s grace with others when we have been hurt badly by them.

Grace can be defined as, “the love and mercy given to us by God because God desires us to have it, not necessarily because of anything we have done to earn it”   ~source

The LOVE and MERCY we receive when we haven’t done anything to earn it.  Wow.

When we look at our own lives and the sin within, we realize how greatly God loves us to forgive us and give us grace.  He accepts us as we are, but He loves us too much to let us stay that way.  He lovingly and patiently shows us through His word how we can have abundant, joyful, and purposeful lives.   And one of the main ways to have that type of life?...it is to live our lives LIKE HIM.

Each day, we can thank God for His grace, and then ask Him to help us live like Him.  We can ask him to help us show Grace to others in our lives, because Grace is what we ALL so desperately need.

None of us is perfect.

If God is able to forgive me of my many sins, I must also forgive others of their sins.

I want to be the type of person who extends Grace to others.  I want my children to see me extend that Grace, just like I saw my mom extend Grace to others when I was growing up.  Mom left a Legacy of Grace in our family.

She taught us to forgive quickly and love big, and I am so glad she did.

Life is tough, y’all.  People hurt us.  Sometimes a little and sometimes a LOT.  Extending Grace to those people in our lives is not easy, but with God’s help, it can be done.  And oh the GREAT HEALING that comes to our hearts when we show God’s Grace to others.

The beautiful healing of God’s love takes root in our hearts, and in the hearts of those we show Grace too.

Maybe you need to accept God’s Grace in your life today?  Do you think that you have made too many mistakes for God to love you anymore?  Dear friends, that could not be further from the truth.  God knows everything about you and loves you more than you could ever imagine.  Receive His Grace.  Rest in His Grace.

Or maybe you need to extend God’s Grace to someone in your life today?  Are you holding on to resentment and anger that is eating you up inside?  Give it to Jesus.  Ask Him to help you show Grace to that person in your life.  And when you do, watch the healing begin.

I found this video this weekend that I wanted to share with you.  It’s by a group called Sidewalk Prophets, and the reason I was watching it is because my son, Jonathan, will be moving to Nashville in a few weeks and rooming with the guitarist in this group.

I thought this video is a beautiful example of God’s Grace, and how He invites ALL OF US to the table.   It’s a beautiful depiction of His Love.

I hope you enjoy it.
