Building a Barn Door {and good times with my in-laws!}

The week before the 4th of July, my mother and father-in-law came up to see us.  It was the first time for them to see our new home!

I have been blessed with wonderful in-laws!

So many people ask me where my husband gets his amazing work ethic?  Well, here’s the answer..

This is my husband’s father, and the boys call him “Pop”.

He is one of the hardest workers I know.  He can build a house from top to bottom, restore old buildings and old cars, has exquisite taste, and is always ready to help others.  (And isn’t he handsome?!)

Whenever my in-laws come for a visit…we work.  We do not lounge around, believe-you-me!

This visit was no different.  Cy and his dad decided to start making new doors for our barn.

The boys were loving this idea.

Pop and Cy had four little handymen around them at all times. :)

Eli helped carry the  nails in the army pouch Pop bought him at the habitat store…

I love that my boys are soaking up their dad and Pop’s hard work ethic and carpentry skills!

One side down, and one to go!  I am going to love these new doors.

We are planning on painting this barn an off white color to match the house.  (When we finally paint it!)

The best thing about working hard is celebrating it!

We went out to eat at one of our favorite restaurants one night…

And my beautiful MIL and I took a break one day and visited one of my favorite little places..

The Glitz in Nonesuch, Ky!

If you are ever nearby, you have to go check this place out!  It is so much fun.

There is a very “glitzy” restaurant in the bottom level…

You will be amazed at all the “glitz”!

And the menu is full of the most delicious food you have ever tasted…

My favorite thing on the menu (and my mom’s!) is the Nonesuch Kiss dessert…

Upstairs at the Glitz is two levels of antiques ( and more glitz!)

Look at this adorable little fish ornament!

So much eye candy!…

I was able to find a few things that weren’t so glitzy..

But they were WAY out of my price range.

The very best part of my lunch at The Glitz was getting to spend some quality time with my mother-in-love.

I am so blessed!

My MIL and I are so much alike.  We both love to go thrifting together, we love antiques, we both can sew (she used to reupholster the interiors of Porsches!  Yes, the car!), and we both love cokes from McDonald’s!

We had such a wonderful visit, and we hated to see them leave.

Thank you, Pop and Grammaw, for such a special time!
