Preparing for our Family Christmas Cards (with StitchFix + Minted!)

I am dying that Christmas is only 9 weeks away!  Say wha?

I swear it sneaks up on me every year!

This year I am extra excited about Christmas because our little girl will be with us!  ACK!  :)

I cannot wait to see that little girl in her Christmas pajamas on Christmas morning.  #priceless

And I am super excited about sending out Christmas cards this year with a picture of my four boys and my girl!   Do you send out Christmas cards?  I have been hit and miss the past few years, but this is a year I will not miss sending out cards.

Sometimes people think taking pictures for Christmas cards can be stressful, but I don’t really think it needs to be.  I already have something to wear thanks to StitchFix!  I got this super cute gray sweater in my box this past month, along with these flare (aka: bell bottom) jeans.   I added a red scarf that I already had to give my outfit some color.

(What is Stitchfix you ask?  For busy women on the go, Stitch Fix is the personal styling service tailored to your taste, budget and lifestyle that helps you look and feel your best every day!)

stitchfix collage

I love grays, blacks, reds, and whites for Christmas cards, like some of the pictures I found on Pinterest.

And I love that I can send my Stitchfix stylist photos like these through my “My Style” board on Pinterest to help her choose items for my fix each month!  If I was wanting to dress our family in neutral colors instead, I could send a note to my Stitchfix stylist  and request only neutral colored items in my fix that month.  If I want casual, I ask for casual.  If I want dressy, I ask for dressy.  I LOVE having a stylist who helps me pick items that will work best for me and what I need.

And did you know that Stitchfix just came out with an app??!!  I KNOW!  I have downloaded it, but haven’t used it yet.  I plan on uploading my picture so that my stylist can get to know me better and be able to see my hair, eye, and skin colors to help her choose clothing items that will compliment them.  #bonus

Get the app HERE.

For my Christmas cards, I will be using Minted.  It is my favorite online store to orders my cards.  They have beautiful options to choose from, and they make getting Christmas cards super easy!  And when I was on their website today, I saw that all of their foil cards are 20% off!

Spring Style {Go Big Blue!}

Howdy, friends!  So the stomach bug made an appearance at our house this week, so I haven’t been on my computer much.  :(  Eli stayed home from school yesterday, and I enjoyed some extra “mommy and Eli time.”  He’s growing up so fast!

But before the bug showed up, I was able to spend some time with my sister Sunday night, and I had her snap some pictures of me in some of my new items from Stitch Fix!

So, I got my Stitch Fix box this past week, and I loved a few of the things that I got!

My favorite were these gray Danny Knit Pants!  They are super comfy, and I loved the length too.  If I wanted to roll them up and create a cute cuff, I could.

And my next favorite was this beautiful blue purse!  I was wanting something bright and “Springy” feeling, and this purse definitely fit the bill.  (This is me doing a “fashion pose” while my sister was taking pictures.  We were cracking up!!)IMG_3648

This purse is called the Rex Hardware Detail Crossbody Hobo Bag.  Isn’t it adorable?!  I sure didn’t feel like a hobo carrying it.  hee.hee.

And of course, it couldn’t have come at a better time!  It’s March Madness, and if you live in Kentucky, you better be wearing Kentucky Blue on you somewhere!  GO CATS!!!

I received  three knit tops in my fix as well, and although they were cute, I decided to pass on them.  Sometimes I keep everything in my box, and sometimes I don’t, but I LOVE getting my surprise Stitch Fix box each month.  I love being able to tell my stylist what I am looking for in my next fix too.  I have requested bright colors and maybe a shirt dress.  I can’t wait to see what she picks out for me!

Have you tried Stitch Fix?  If not, you can sign up by clicking on the button below.

My Style Saturday

Hey, friends!

I have not done a fashion post in a loooooong time, but I am going to try and do some more often, if that is okay with you?  :)

My sister is a fashion blogger, and I have learned a LOT from her.  Two years ago, you would have found me in yoga pants every day of the week, except Sunday.  I wouldn’t wear my yoga pants to church, but I wanted to!  I just could never figure out how to wear them with heels without looking like a hoochiemama.

But over the past year, I barely ever wear yoga pants except for when I am hanging out around the house.  And I have to tell you, I kinda like it.  I “try” to get dressed up each day, even if I am just going to Walmart.  And when I say “dressed up,” I don’t mean dressy, I just mean no yoga pants.

And I have to say that it makes me feel better about myself.  I always felt a little “sloppy” in my yoga pants, but getting up and putting on an outfit makes me feel more professional and gives me a “go get them” attitude.  I’m trying to have a more “professional” attitude when working from home, and dressing up definitely helps me feel more professional.  That is one of the things I miss about being a teacher, getting up, getting dressed, and feeling professional.

So every now and then, I am going to share with you some of the outfits I wear during the week.  This week, I shared some of my outfits on Instagram.  If you don’t follow me on Instagram, I would love for you too HERE.

I wore this polka-dot blouse (from StitchFix) with jeans and my favorite brown boots that I got at JCPenny’s three years. ago.  I also wore some gray boot socks.

Screen Shot 2015-01-24 at 4.40.02 PM

For church on Sunday, I wore a brown and black striped dress (from StitchFix) with my black boots I got at Dillards on New Years Day.  (They have an AWESOME sale on New Year’s Day every year!)  The boots were 50% the already reduced price.  :)

I added a black sweater that I already had with my dress because it is sleeveless.

Screen Shot 2015-01-24 at 4.40.15 PM

Lastly, I got this awesome infinity scarf in my StitchFix box this month, and I love it!  It is a grayish-brown with a few red stripes in it.  It goes with almost everything!

Screen Shot 2015-01-24 at 4.40.31 PM

Now to keep it real, here is a shot  I took at The Dollar Store one night.  I was already in my pj’s when one of the boys told me they needed something for school.  The pj’s are from Target a couple of years ago, and the slippers are from Kohl’s.  hee.hee.

I had to post it on instagram and tag my sister just for meanness.

So there you have it!  Just a few snippets from my week.

Do you like to get dressed up every day even if you work from home?

What makes you feel motivated to get things done each day?

I know you guys have been anxiously awaiting the second half of my Stitch Fix Vacay post, right?

Well, if you missed my first post about my trip to San Francisco with my Sister to visit Stitch Fix, you can view it HERE.  We were on the trip with Cheryl, from Tidy Mom, and her beautiful daughter, Allison.  We had so much fun together!!

The first day of the trip, we visited the Stitch Fix headquarters.

Day two, we visited the “Hizzy.”  That is what the Stitch Fix employees affectionately call the warehouse.

We were absolutely giddy to be in a warehouse full of clothes and accessories!

I was so impressed with the whole process of how they pack your personal fix.

stitch fix collage

1.  There are rows and rows of clothing and accessories shipped to the Hizzy.

2.  Each item of clothing is carefully inspected.

3.   They go through the rows of clothes to find the items for your fix.

4.  After they find the five items for you fix, they are checked AGAIN to make sure they are the correct pieces and that they are in perfect condition.

5.  The pieces in your fix are carefully wrapped to create the special “experience” of opening your fix when it arrives to your home.

6.  Your fix is packaged, taped, and mailed to your home!

I had so much fun packing my fix for Jodi.  I hope she liked it. Smile

Here’s a fun video of us packing our boxes, and you can catch glimpses of their special employees at the Hizzy.

I was so taken back by how happy they all were to be working there.  Their enthusiasm was contagious!

I’m going to California with my Sister! {and StitchFix!}

Y’all, I am so stinkin’ excited about something!  I’ve been dying to tell you!!

In three short weeks, my sister and I will be headed to San Francisco, California!

{Notice who is Grannie in the picture.  hee.hee} Smile

Yep.  My sister, who is terrified of flying, and I will be loading up our stuff and heading to California.  I’ve already promised to knock her out if she starts panicking on the flight.  Ain’t nobody got time for that!

We have never flown together.  {And our Dad is not too happy about it.}  SmileAnd we have never been to California.  And we’ve never be on a trip by ourselves together!

What another incredible blessing our blogs have afforded us!  {I know Mom would be so thrilled!  It makes me think of this post I wrote, “Mama says, Take Care of Your Sister.”}

I cannot wait to spend 5 days with just my sister!  She is my best friend, and we laugh until our stomachs hurt when we are together.  She gets me.  And I get her.

We are traveling to California to tour the facilities and meet the wonderful staff at Stitch Fix.

Cyndi and I both LOVE Stitch Fix, although Cyndi blogs about it a lot more since she has a fashion blog.

Stitch Fix is a personal styling service.  You can sign up to get your monthly “fix” of five items of clothing.  You keep what you like and send back what you don’t.

Here are a few items that I have gotten in my boxes and kept lately:

My favorite piece is the red and white chevron shirt that I am wearing in this picture…

2013-11-08 13.51.54

{That’s me and Leslie, from House on the Way.}

And I love this new green sweater that I recently got and wore to church with my gray dress…

2014-02-09 14.19.04

I also love these other pieces they sent me…

I’ve got about 20 more pieces of clothing from Stitch Fix in my closet, but didn’t have time to take pictures of them all.

My sister loves to shop for clothes, but I do not.  I do not know if something is stylish or not.  But I can tell you the best way to stain a table!  ha! Smile

So I depend on my sister and Stitch Fix to keep me in style.  I love that Stitch Fix knows what I like because I filled out their Style Profile, and I love that they send me the most current trends in fashion.  Takes the stress out of shopping for me.

If you would like to learn more about how Stitch Fix works, you can read the post I wrote HERE.

I cannot wait to tell you all about our trip and share lots of photos with you.

Have you ever been to California?

What did you love most?

My Latest Stitch Fix Box!

Hello friends!

I got my newest Stitch Fix box in the mail this past weekend.  I was so excited to open it up!

I LOVED what was in my box this time!

Remember that you get five items in your box each month?  Well, I kept 4 out of 5 of my items!

First of all, I kept this silky green sleeveless top.  I absolutely LOVE this color, and I think it is perfect for summer.  But I think it would also look great under a blazer in the fall.

I also loved the next sleeveless top!  It is super comfortable, and I love the design

I also like that it is a little bit longer to cover my back side, and it has a cute cutout in the back. Smile

See those white jeans in all of the pictures above?  Those were in my box too!  As soon as I saw them, I thought, “Nope.”  Mainly because it takes me FOR-EV-A to find a pair of jeans that I like in the stores.  I hate shopping for jeans.  They never fit me right, and I end up trying on 100 different pair.  It’s exhausting!

But to my surprise, these fit me really well.  They were a little snug in the bottom, but I am hoping to drop a few pounds before Haven to help them fit a little better.

And they were the perfect length for me!

I couldn’t believe that I decided to keep them. Smile

Lastly, I decided to keep this casual summer tank.  It has the most beautiful stitching on the front, but I had trouble getting a good picture of it.

Each item in your box comes with a picture card that shows two different ways you could wear each piece.  I particularly loved the picture of this tank with the blue jean shorts and aqua sweater.  I am definitely going to try and get a sweater like that to go with it.

The item I didn’t choose was this skirt.  It just didn’t look good on me.

I just placed it back in the pre-paid postage envelope and sent it back in the mail!

That was a fun box.  I don’t expect to like everything in my box every time, but I did like a lot of the pieces this time.

I’m usually hoping just to like one item out of each box each month.  It’s my monthly “Traci Treat.”  Smile

Have you tried Stitch Fix yet?

If not, it is super easy.  You can sign up by clicking on the link below.

If you missed my first post that explains what Stitch Fix is, click HERE to find out.

Have a blessed day!!!

P.S.  Let me just say that I admire my sister TONS for being a fashion blogger.  She has to take pictures of herself every week for her blog.  I cannot stand taking pictures of myself!  UGH!  I’d much rather take pictures of pillows and paint. Smile

I don’t know how she does it.

My Latest StichFix Box!!!

Hey Friends!

A few weeks ago, I shared StitchFix with you.

Stitch Fix

It’s a personal styling service that my sister told me about.  She’s been receiving StitchFix boxes since last fall, and she was enjoying it so much that I decided to give them a try.

I loved my first box so much, that I couldn’t wait for my second box to arrive!  It is seriously like Christmas.  When my box arrived, my boys started yelling, “Mom!  Your StitchFix is here!  Your StitchFix is here!!!”

It was so cute.

They all stood around me as I opened it.  {I know…we’ve got issues.}  But I love that my boys were excited for their mama. Smile

I absolutely love how the clothes are wrapped up so pretty.

stitch 001

And then there is a little envelope in there just for me from my stylist.  It describes each item they picked out for me.

stitch 002

I loved all of the items, but only decided to keep one out of the five.

I didn’t keep this skirt.  I absolutely loved the colors and the pattern, but the style didn’t look good on me.  It was too “full.”  And I don’t need any help accentuating my bottom half, if you know what I mean.  {wink}

stitchfix 035

This next top was a beautiful aqua color.  I loved the material too, but I wasn’t sure if I would wear it a ton, so I decided to pass on it.

stitchfix 037

I loved this next top, except for one thing.  The back of the top had a “split tail” which is just not me.  But I loved the color and the material.  If it hadn’t had the split tail in the back, I would have kept it.

stitchfix 039

This was a cool tank top, but it was a little snug on me, so I passed on it.

stitchfix 041

Here is the shirt I decided to keep.  I absolutely LOVE sleeveless tops in the summertime!  Stripes are really in right now, and I love this top with my bubble necklace.

stitchfix 033

I also loved the back of this top.  The shirt is long enough to cover my bottom too, which is a plus!  Smile

stitchfix 027

I know I will get a lot of wear out of this shirt.

Today, I am sending back the four items I didn’t want in the pre-paid envelope that was provided in my box.

And I cannot wait to schedule my next “fix!”

What I’m Lovin’ Wednesday…My StitchFix!

I have been dying to share this with you.

I have something new that I LOVE.  Smile

It’s called StitchFix, and my sister, Cyndi, introduced it to me.  She is a fashion blogger for women over 40 who shares tips on her blog about how to be beautiful inside and out.

She told me about this fun little service she’s been using… StitchFix.

Stitch Fix is a personal styling service. I don’t know about you, but I need help with my “styling.”

I’m a DIY girl.  I spend most of my time in yoga pants and tshirts, and my accessories are paintbrushes and tool belts.  Smile

I used to like to shop for clothes when I was younger, but now, not so much.  I don’t have the time, and I am too picky.

So Cyndi convinced me to try StitchFix, and here is how it works.

Stitch Fix

What is Stitch Fix?

Stitch Fix is a personal styling service. A group of stylists put together 5 stylish pieces of clothing (sometimes jewelry and/or accessories items are included) and ship them directly to you!  It’s a great way to add to your current wardrobe and get a hold of pieces that you might otherwise not have access to. No two Fixes are alike. Each one is hand–picked just for you.

How does it work?

1. Sign Up (There may be a brief waiting period based how well our current inventory matches you. Don’t worry, wait times are just a few days to a few weeks.)

2. Complete Your Style Profile~~After you get your welcome email,  you can start immediately on your Style Profile. We need to know your size, shape, style, price preferences, and lifestyle to get your Fix right. It’ll take about 10 minutes.

They will ask you questions like, “What do you think of the style below?”

Stitch Fix

2. Schedule a Stitch Fix~~Pick a date, and we’ll send you a box of 5 clothing and accessory items we’ve hand-picked just for you. Schedule monthly, or as often as you like—it’s your call. You pay a $20 styling fee up front, which serves as credit toward anything in your Stitch Fix shipment.

3. Try it all on~Try on everything they send you—you never know what you’ll like until you see it on. Pair it with items already in your closet. Each item includes style cards with ideas and inspiration on how to wear it.

Stitch Fix

4. Decide~Take 3 days to decide what you’ll keep. Pay for just what you want to keep, return the rest in our pre-paid mailing bag at any USPS mailbox. Keep all 5 items and you save 25% off the entire shipment.

You can set up your Stitch Fix monthly or schedule them whenever you need them. You can cancel at anytime!

I just got my Stitch Fix box, and I wanted to share it with you!Smile

stitch fix

It was wrapped up so pretty and fancy-like.  I loved looking at the 5 items that the StitchFix team picked out for me.

I liked three of the items in my box.

First was this comfortable and casual red top.

I will get  a lot of wear out of this top.  I can wear it with shorts, skirts, or jeans.

I also loved this black cowneck shirt they sent me. I love to wear sleeveless tops in the summer, and this one will go with anything. It can be dressed with a pencil skirt or down with blue jeans.  It would also look great under a blazer.

This last top is my favorite.  I love the bright colors and the chevron pattern.  It is soooo super silky and comfortable.  I know I will love wearing it.

There was another navy blue sleeveless tank in the box that I didn’t think I would wear as much as these three, and a sweater that I didn’t like, so I sent those back in the pre-paid mailing bag they sent me.

bathroom-stitchfix 115

If I didn’t like anything in my box, I would just place all 5 items back in the pre-paid mailing bag and mail it back to StitchFix.  {I do loose my $20, though.}

Isn’t that fun?

My sister has been doing this for several months and has gotten a lot of really cute items that she has kept.

I cannot wait to see what is in my next box!

So what do you think?

Do you need a personal stylist?

If so, just click on the button below.   Let me know if you do!
