Craft Closet Storage
Hey guys!
Thank you so much for all of your sweet words about my craft closet!
Many of you asked where I got some of the containers for my pegboard, so I wanted to share that info with you quickly today.
Some of the things that you see in the picture below is stuff that I already had.
I purchased a few new items at Ikea, and I’ve pointed them out with arrows in the picture below.
The closest IKEA store to me is in Ohio and about 2 hours away. But it is definitely worth the drive when you know you get to see two of your best blog buddies and spend time shopping with them.
That’s Beckie, from Infarrantly Creative, on the left and Sarah, from Thrifty Décor Chick on the right.
I LOVE these two girls, and we had so much fun hanging out that day!
Check out all the loot they snagged!
The prices at IKEA are crazy good!
I am considering buying one of their slipcovered couches. I decided to try it out while I was there, and from the look of things, I rather enjoyed it!
Does that couch make my butt look big, or does my butt make the couch look small?
Not sure why, but Sarah decided to try out the cribs. That girl ain’t right.
I actually got to IKEA about 45 minutes before Sarah and Beckie did, and guess who I saw shopping there! Drew Lachey from 98 degrees! Do you know him? Didn’t he win Dancing with the Stars one year?
He was there with his wife and two kids shopping. I was going to get a picture of him, but was a little embarrassed.
Anyway, I got some great supplies for my craft closet makeover while at IKEA.
The metal shelves that hold all my paint supplies were only $2.99 a piece.
The green buckets were $8.99-$12.99, which is a little more expensive, but I love the color that it adds to my pegboard.
The only other thing that I bought for my craft closet were these great fabric covered storage containers. {They also come in navy blue and other sizes.}
I’ve got a lot of good stuff hidden in those containers on the shelves. I haven’t made labels for them yet, but I will.
Everything else on those two white shelves is stuff I gathered from around the house.
The long green bucket holds a bunch of different sponge type brushes that are kind of awkward to store. And the three smaller green buckets hold paint brushes, scissors, a glue gun, and some pencils.
The baskets on the bottom half of the closet are ones that I already had. They hold my cardstock papers, vinyl rolls, stencils, larger paint items, ribbons, etc.
Eventually, I will also be creating some more craft storage on the other side of the room.
But that’s it! I love looking at how organized my closet is because it is literally the only organized space in my house! I am hoping to get the rest of this room finished in the next month or so. {fingers crossed}
If you have any more questions about my craft closet makeover, just ask! I would love to hear from you.
I hope you have a blessed day!
Thanks for the info! I’m currently trying to convince my fiancee that pegboards are a good idea. We might compromise and put them on the insides of doors instead of out in the open ;-)
Question about your Cameo – Do you use it in the closet and turn it sideways, or do you really just store it there? I’m trying to make a new home for mine but ideally would like a spot for it that I can just sit down and go instead of pulling it out to use it. Suggestions would be appreciated!
Hi Grace!
I am just storing my cameo there. I will have to pull it out to use it too.
Thanks for stopping by!

So much fun!! That picture of Sarah in the crib is cracking me up!! You girls are crazy!!
Love all the awesome storage containers from IKEA! I wish we had one closer to us! We have to drive to Chicago if we want to shop! :(
While driving through Cincinnati this weekend I was going to stop at IKEA. That was my plan. But I was too dang tired. The closest one to me is in Pittsburgh, but it’s still a haul. I’m jealous the three of you got to go shopping together. And I think you make that couch look stunning.
I SO love it!!! The teal is just gorgeous – hmmm, is Sarah giving a hint?
Hee.hee. We told Sarah that that picture could start a ton of rumors! :)
I LOVE IKEA!!! Luckily it’s only about a 20 min drive (that could be an hour and half if you time it wrong- seriously) Yes the buckets! Those are gorgeous- I was torn between getting the railing system to hang those cute little tins and plastic holders on or the wire. I just got my stuff for above my desk! I got an awesome panel cork board, no wait- that was Hobby Lobby. OH I got one of those string wire hangers ( normally for curtains) but it comes with clips (so I can hang my cards and stuff) and my goal is to have the cork board, the wire and then a shelf. :) I just need to find a measuring tape and a level. :D My first purchase at IKEA was the little Cheese Slicer, all metal, no adustable wire, and it looks like a weapon, not a cheese slicer… lol. I still have it- It’s still sharp and I still love it! and cheese. :)
Ha! You are a nut! :)
I love those wire hanger thingies too!
Love your new closet, Traci! I would totally like to hire you around here :) Thx for the inspiration!
Thank you, Joy!
Well, they may be your best blog buddies around here, but I’m one of you biggest blog fans in the tr-state area! You guys could have stopped over for bfoere heading back. I didn’t realize those bloggers were from around Cincinnati; I’ll have to pop over to their sites. I would feel the same way about seeing you as you did see seeing Nick L. I think he lives here now. He was married to Jessica Simpson and they had that reality TV show that made her look like an idiot.
I’m wondering what the room looks like if you step back a few feet! I usually get one area fixed before moving on to the next and wonder if you do the same.
Teresa, you wouldn’t want to see the other side of that room! It is a mess!! I am hoping to get my desks made for the other side of the room soon, and I will share it on my blog. :)
I can only do one project at a time, like you.
Have a blessed day!
Traci
I love following your blog!! You really did a great job fixing up your closet and making it your craft space. One day I too will have a craft space. :) Right now it is an old desk and just a mess because of the lack of space. :) Thanks for your inspiration. I’m going to start planning!
Deanna
Thank you, Deanna! Thank you for following my blog. :)

If you saw a lady trying to push a flatbed cart with a really long box on it along side a double stroller that was me. :)
Hi! I was wondering what kind of floor that you are going to have in your craft room?
Hi, Shirley!
Right now, I think we are going to just pull up the carpet and paint the sub floor. We are not going to be able to install hardwood in there yet, but we want to eventually. So in the meantime, we may just paint the sub floor. Unless it looks horrible when we pull up the carpet, and then I’m not sure what we’ll do! :)

LOVE this! Pinning now. And how sweet that you live {sort of} close to those awesome gals. I just read Beckie’s Blog story (yes… all 14 posts) from start to finish. The Hubs and children are glad to see me again. lol
The Hope you are doing well, sweet gal!
xoxo, Claire
What a gorgeous craft closet. Nice job.
I know this is going to sound crazy but I really adore the light and bulb. Where did you get them?
Your closet looks great! Will you hate me if I told you that I have two IKEAs within an hour of my house?
IKEA has the best stuff — I forget about it as a great source of organization! I’ll be working on my craft space this summer, so thanks for the great info AND inspiration!
xo Heidi
Traci~I am drooling over your craft closet. Good work. It is inspiring me. And I absolutely love (wait for it….) Ikea. I got to that one, too! In fact was just there on Palm Sunday. It is to die for, yes? I love the Kassett boxes, and use them to store fabrics, and dvds, mostly! LOVE that store! LOVE your blog. Keep up the good work.
Ikea is too much fun! :) I’m still trying to figure out how to copy and paste this into my closet…. When I figure it out, I’ll let you know! :)
I’m only 25 min. from the Cincy IKEA! Just bought the Raskog trolley to hold my Kitchen Aid Mixer! Saw the buckets in the green color – love them! I’ll have to keep my eyes open for the Lachey boys! (We went to a wedding in Cincinnati a few years ago and Nick and Jessica were there. He is gorgeous in person! They were very low key and you wouldn’t have even seen them.) Anyhoo – love your craft closet!
Your craft closet looks great!! I used to have one in the last house and and a whole craft room in the garage…that was the days I was totally a scrapper any ways…I was at my Ikea on Wed and we don’t have those green enamel buckets only white..so i thought that was interesting..i have that couch which I sit here typing on…and I LOVE IT…love it…I have had it for several years…it still has very cushy cushions….anyways this is my firt comment..nice to meet you.
Loving it all! Have peg board waiting for some paint as we speak! I too was wondering where you got your light from???
Thanks!
Traci,
That is a beautiful thing, that little craft closet of yours. I would be embarrassed to show you mine in it’s current condition. Lol! I want to tell you that you have inspired me! Right now I am working on making over my master suite, when I’m done I think I will take the 130 mile trip to the IKEA in my neck of the woods and create a nicer space for my crafting supplies. I had a huge shelf unit built in my basement in the crafting area to house my supplies but never really completed it and now after seeing yours I am going to have to get around to it! Thanks for the inspiration…and please keep it coming! =)
