Our Christmas Family Room – {Farmhouse Holiday Series}
Y’all…today is a GREAT day! I am so happy to be the “featured guest” in the Farmhouse Holiday Decor Series that has been going on since September. This series has included an all star line up of my favorite bloggers, and I have enjoyed each and every one of their posts. They are soooo inspirational!
The fact that I am getting to join this line up today is truly an honor! (If this is your first time visiting my blog, WELCOME!)
This week, the series is focusing on Christmas Trees and Family Rooms. In order to participate in this series, I had to decorate my family room and put up my tree waaaay before I usually do, but that’s okay. Now I am going to be able to sit back and relax and enjoy the holiday season. :)
Let’s get started!
When we removed the double doors behind our couch this past spring and installed windows, I knew that I would want to hang wreaths on them this Christmas.
I got these beautiful boxwood wreaths from Wayfair, and added the red ribbon and white bells from the dollar store.
As you can see, I love the color red, especially at Christmas. It’s just not Christmas without red for me. :)
If you circle on around the room to the right, you will find my bookcases all decked out for the holidays, and my Christmas tree.
I bought a Douglas fir this year. I usually get a Fraiser Fir, but I loved how full and traditional this Douglas fir looked.
I wanted to keep it simple this year, so I decorated with white ornaments (the stars are from Hobby Lobby) and some brown gift tags (from Walmart.)
The red ribbon around the tree is left over from last year.
I found these Christmas stockings at Gordman’s for just $9.99 a piece. I added a chalkboard tag with each of my kiddos names on them and the white star ornaments like the ones on my tree.
I found this red metal box at a thrift store a couple of years ago, and I love using it at Christmas each year by just adding some greenery, berries, and pine cones.
Here is the tree and garland all lit up with lights…
Is there anything better than the glow of Christmas lights?!
Of course, I have to leave this tour with the best picture of all…..our sweet dog, Bentley. This is his favorite spot on our couch. :)
Thank you for stopping by!
Now it’s time to check out all of these other great Christmas trees! ENJOY!!

Beautiful…I love all the reds as well.
So pretty! I love red and green at Christmas time! Your dog is cute. What breed is he?
Thanks, Christine! He is a King Charles Cavalier. Sweetest dog ever! :)
I have to say Traci, your room is the prettiest. It makes me want to get my family room decorated now! I too love red. Safe travels.
Thank you so much, Terri!
lovely, happy thanksgiving and safe travels.
So very welcoming and comfy! I too love red at Christmas time! BTW, I believe I recall you telling someone your couch is from Ballard Designs – I’m looking for a new couch and wondered if you would share how long you’ve had it, and if it has held up well? I’ve never owned a “slip-covered” sofa, and don’t know if I know anyone personally who has one so I thought maybe you’d be willing to share your likes and/or dislikes :-).
Safe Travels and Happy Thanksgiving – oh! and I hope you get your luggage back!
Hi Sharon! Yes, my couch is from Ballard Designs. I’ve had mine for about 5 years, and I have loved it. It has held up super well. I purchased new white slipcovers last year because the first ones I got were a more expensive fabric and truthfully didn’t was as well. They were supposed to be dry cleaned, but they wouldn’t come clean as well as throwing them in the washing machine. So last year, I bought the least expensive ones, and I love them! When they get dirty, I throw them in the wash with some bleach and they come out like new.
I love that I can wash the slipcovers and look like I have a brand new couch. Some people may not like washing the slipcovers often, but it doesn’t bother me a bit. I can do it all in one day. And it depends on the season as to how often I have to wash them. I can go through the whole winter season without washing them, but spring and summer I have to wash them more often because the boys are playing outside more and coming in with dirty hands and bodies, ya know? :)
But I absolutely love my slipcovered couch and plan on keeping them a loooong time. I love that if I ever get tired of the white, I can just get a different colored slipcover from ballads and have a whole new look! Hope this helps! Merry Christmas!
Traci
Beautiful! Enjoy your Thanksgiving celebration with even more to celebrate than ever.
Thank you, Dorothy! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! xoxo Traci
I love all of what you’ve done, but my favorite pic is Bentley! I miss having a dog!
That’s my favorite picture too, Guerrina! He is the sweetest thing ever! :)
Traci, your family room looks beautiful and so inviting! Love your tree in the planter, looks awesome! Also, didn’t know you had a Cavalier, so cute! We just got a Cockapoo but was wanting a Cavalier for the longest time. Happy Holidays friend!!!
Jen
Thank you, Jen! Yes, we love our Cavalier. He is the sweetest thing ever. I pray you have a blessed and restful (is that possible?) :) Christmas season. xoxo Traci
I love all your decorations. Red and green are my Christmas colors and this year I added some burlap in wreaths and bows. I really like it. Safe travels and enjoy the Christmas season.
Thank you. Sue!
Enjoyed your family room decorated for Christmas – and girl, I’m just like you. It’s just not Christmas for me without some red. Your pup is precious! Thanks for the inspiration! Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁
Thank you, Regina! Merry Christmas!
Your family room is gorgeous! I especially love your Proverbs 24:3 sign, where did you get that?
Thank you,
Stephanie
So beautiful!! I normally do the clear lights. This year I’m going with the multi lights. Any advice on how to decorate the tree with them? I’m having a hard time finding something I like to go on the tree this year.
Would you be so kind as to tell me where you got your white couch? I see so many of these farm style couches and love the look but don’t seem to be able to find anything quite the same. Did you buy the couch like this or are these covers and if so where did you purchase it/them? Thanks so much.
Hi Sharon! I got my couches from Ballard Designs. I got the “Baldwin” sofa and love seat and purchased the white cotton slipcovers. (The least expensive ones.)
