Mom’s Writings in Her Bible {Wednesdays with Wanda}

First of all, I want to thank my sister, Cyndi, for being a guest writer for my Wednesdays with Wanda post last week.

It was a beautiful post, and if you missed it you can read it HERE.

Cyndi mentioned Mom’s unwavering commitment to reading God’s Word.  There is no doubt that Mom drew her strength to face death from the years she spent studying the Bible.

I wanted to share some more of Mom’s writings in the front of another one of her Bibles.  It is the Bible I now use.

I love this comment:

Mom knew that God would speak to her through His Word.  And she was listening.

Mom longed to encounter God in His Word daily.  I know that at times, I read the Bible because I know I should, not because I am expecting to encounter God.

But like most of you, I have discovered that life is hard and doesn’t always go as we had planned.  If our feet are not firmly rooted in God’s Word, our lives will crumble.

I have a lot of questions about life.  But God’s not scared of my questions.  HE is the answer.

So I am going to keep on asking, making sure I take the time to listen.

Will you join me?

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

Proverbs 3:5,6

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.  Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Jeremiah 29:11-13

Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.  Jeremiah 33:3

  1. Your mom wanted to hear His voice, and she did. She wanted to encounter God, and God did not disappoint her. And He won’t disappoint you, either. Or me. Or anyone who really wants to get to know Him. God bless you for honoring your mom and God with these Wednesday posts.

I love coming to your blog on Wednesdays! Thank you for sharing your mom’s heart. I can relate to the previous poster about so much going on in my life right now that only God can help. I have been praying so much that at times I no longer know what words to use in my request. I know that God hears my heart and knows what I need. Thanks for the encouragement to read scripture to hear God speak to us.

Prov 3:5-6 has always been my favorite scripture.

    Blessings & Hugs to you.
