My Style Saturday
Hey, friends!
I have not done a fashion post in a loooooong time, but I am going to try and do some more often, if that is okay with you? :)
My sister is a fashion blogger, and I have learned a LOT from her. Two years ago, you would have found me in yoga pants every day of the week, except Sunday. I wouldn’t wear my yoga pants to church, but I wanted to! I just could never figure out how to wear them with heels without looking like a hoochiemama.
But over the past year, I barely ever wear yoga pants except for when I am hanging out around the house. And I have to tell you, I kinda like it. I “try” to get dressed up each day, even if I am just going to Walmart. And when I say “dressed up,” I don’t mean dressy, I just mean no yoga pants.
And I have to say that it makes me feel better about myself. I always felt a little “sloppy” in my yoga pants, but getting up and putting on an outfit makes me feel more professional and gives me a “go get them” attitude. I’m trying to have a more “professional” attitude when working from home, and dressing up definitely helps me feel more professional. That is one of the things I miss about being a teacher, getting up, getting dressed, and feeling professional.
So every now and then, I am going to share with you some of the outfits I wear during the week. This week, I shared some of my outfits on Instagram. If you don’t follow me on Instagram, I would love for you too HERE.
I wore this polka-dot blouse (from StitchFix) with jeans and my favorite brown boots that I got at JCPenny’s three years. ago. I also wore some gray boot socks.
For church on Sunday, I wore a brown and black striped dress (from StitchFix) with my black boots I got at Dillards on New Years Day. (They have an AWESOME sale on New Year’s Day every year!) The boots were 50% the already reduced price. :)
I added a black sweater that I already had with my dress because it is sleeveless.
Lastly, I got this awesome infinity scarf in my StitchFix box this month, and I love it! It is a grayish-brown with a few red stripes in it. It goes with almost everything!
Now to keep it real, here is a shot I took at The Dollar Store one night. I was already in my pj’s when one of the boys told me they needed something for school. The pj’s are from Target a couple of years ago, and the slippers are from Kohl’s. hee.hee.
I had to post it on instagram and tag my sister just for meanness.
So there you have it! Just a few snippets from my week.
Your comment about trying to wear heels with yoga pants and not look like a hoochiemama cracked me up!! The outfits are very cute. I work from home doing child care so although I do get dressed I don’t get “dressed up”. Chances are good that I am going to get pooped or spit up on at some point in the day :)
@ Kelly Palmer…me too ! That had me chuckling ! Yep..how wto carry off that ‘ heels with yoga pants’ thing ..lol. ( ALTHOUGH..I did wear them with my low heeled sherpa lined boots, and it looked ok. lol ) Your outfits are lovely and love the boots from Dillard’s…! ( one of my fave stores….)
Thanks, Shelby! I bet they looked great with your boots! :)
I love reading both you and your sisters blog! But I’m with your sister on this one! No PJs out of the house.
Hey, you can’t side with my sister! She’ll eat that up! I rarely, if ever, wear PJs out, but if I do, I own them. :) My sister needs to relax a little and enjoy the little things! hee.hee. Life is too short to be that serious.
I know just what you mean. I feel so much better when I look better. I may be a hayseed but I sure don’t want to look like one!
Ha! :) Thanks for stopping by!
Traci,
Your a hoot!!.. I love your realism,. I’m either in scrubs or yoga pants and by the time I put in church clothes or jeans… Everything’s tight again., too much drawstrings and elastics I guess., but yoga pants are my faves!.. I love your style!. I’ve watched your videos and you look great in them too!. Thank you for sharing,. I’d say we have a similar taste too!!
Thank you, Leslie! I’m rockin’ some yoga pants today! :)
Yoga pants are my fave. But, you are right, getting “dressed” makes you feel like you can be more productive.
I didn’t know that you used to teach. I taught kdg. for twelve years and then was a principal before becoming a consultant. What did you teach?
Kerry, I taught for 6 years. Four in a 2nd/3rd split classroom, and two years in 5th grade. I miss the kiddos! (But not the work.) :)
I am sure you looked gorgeous in those jammy pants at the Dollar Store! :) Love the striped dress. Seeing photos of you makes me even more anxious for Haven so that I can give you a hug! :)
Can’t wait to see you too!!
I’m so with ya! Getting dressed for the day really does make me feel more professional and productive, too. (And that’s one of the things I miss about teaching, too.)
Love your outfits!
Thank you, Sharon!
You are so cute!!! So glad I found your blog! Karen S.
Thank you, Karen!!
