Hide That TV! Ideas for a DIY Accent Wall That Includes a TV

Trends & Inspiration

4 Apr

If you’re like me, you don’t really love the idea of having your TV be the focus of the living room or even bedroom… there’s so many ingenious ways to use your TV as a “piece of art” (dare I say it!) and help incorporate it into an accent wall for a room.

Here’s my roundup of best looks! Share below if you’ve seen others that make you want to leave that TV on display rather than hide it away in a cabinet.

The last one is my favorite! I almost expected a fireplace bewteen the builts ins, but the plank wall and TV gives a more affordable way to get a similar feel.

Hi Traci! Really beautiful living rooms but I am still under the impression that the TVs continue to be the focus. It’s really hard! My favorite of the above photos are the one with the blue wall behind, where the TV is hidden as a mirror.
I believe that the only works I find great success in having the TV as a focus, but not really being it, are the ones done by the Canadian interior designer Candice Olson. She did great jobs in hiding it with cabinetries or as classy mirrors, or even with art works.
This one was as a mirror, unfortunatelly I could not find the video with the artwork… too many to search!

I like many aspects of these rooms, but some of the designs make it difficult to watch TV.
You see this all the time. Always a pet peeve with me.
