2018 Haven Maven Blog Hop!

Hey friends!  Happy Hump Day!

As many of you know, I am one of the founding members of the Haven Conference, and we are gearing up for our 7th conference in beautiful Charleston, South Carolina next month, July 12-14th.

One of our favorite parts of the whole conference is our Haven Mentors.  These are seasoned bloggers who meet with groups of attendees throughout the weekend to help encourage and support them.

Check out this year’s amazing line-up of mentors!  You may see some of your favorite bloggers in this group!

Here are the questions that each of them are answering on the Haven Mentor Blog Hop this week, so I thought it would be fun to answer them too!

What is your best advice for a blogger?

Be yourself.  Corny, but true.  It is so hard to want to compare yourself to other bloggers and maybe do what you see other successful bloggers doing.  Although we definitely can learn a lot from each other, whenever I compare myself to other bloggers and don’t stay true to myself, I start to get burn-out.  It’s exhausting trying to keep up in the blog world, so I try to do the things I love, when I can do them.

I also encourage bloggers to always keep their priorities straight…God, Family, Blog (career.)

What is your best advice for a new Haven Maven attendee?

Come find me so I can give you a hug!!!  I love to talk.  I love to hug.  I love to meet new people.  Over the past 7 years of planning the Haven conference, it has always been my desire for attendees to feel welcome.   We can plan a conference with the best speakers, classes, food, setting, etc….but if attendees do not feel welcome or loved, then I feel we have failed.  That is part of the reason that I suggested we create “Haven Mentors” three years ago.  I wanted our mentor groups to be a way that attendees could authentically connect with other attendees and receive guidance/inspiration from their “mentors.”

So if you are coming to Haven for the first time this year…Please come find me!  I can’t wait to meet you!  Haven Mavens are a special group of people, and I think you are going to LOVE meeting and learning from them.

Who are YOU most excited to see/meet at Haven this year?

Every.  Single.  Person.

Our attendees are the heart beat of Haven, and I literally get a “high” from just being in their presence.  The “energy” at Haven is electric to me, and seeing all of the attendees beautiful faces fills up my soul.  I honestly cannot wait!

So, are you coming to Haven?!  You actually don’t have to be a blogger to attend.  We have non-bloggers attend every single year.

If you would like to attend, click on the picture below to get your ticket.

  1. I am attending Haven this year for the first time as a new blogger. It is overwhelming and exciting at the same time and I can’t wait to meet you and give you a big old hug.

  2. Looks like a great group of mentors. Very exciting! I’m just wondering if you considered any ethnically diverse bloggers to serve as mentors?

    1. Hi Natalie! We consider all bloggers with 3 or more years blogging experience, that fit in our niche, and are interested in being a mentor. :)
