Our Family DIY #BUILDTHANKS Sign for Frontline Heroes!

Hello friends!

I hope you are hanging in there during this unprecedented time.  Life looks so unbelievably different for most of us right now, but I know we are going to make it to the other side of this.  What a day of rejoicing that will be!

I’ve been getting extremely antsy with all of the kids and Cy at home all day every day.   haha!   And I’ll be honest that I haven’t always had the best attitude about the situation.  Whenever I start feeling that way, I try to remember all of the frontline heroes, first responders, and essential workers that have it way worse than I do.

All I have to do is stay home and stay safe, but they are right in the thick of it all and doing it FOR US!  I am so grateful for these brave men and women.  I know many of them are tired and scared, and I pray for them every day.

I am thankful for the nurses, the doctors, the custodial staff at the hospitals, the police officers, ambulance drivers, mailmen and women, Amazon workers, grocery store and restaurant workers…EVERYONE!!!  There are SO MANY I could mention.

So when Lowe’s asked me to build some type of sign for our front yard to thank the frontline heroes, I said OF COURSE!

It’s part of their #BUILDTHANKS campaign, and they asked me to help spread the word.  They are hoping that people everywhere will come up with creative ways to use things that they ALREADY have at home to make something to show appreciate for our frontline heroes.

If you search the hashtag #buildthanks on Instagram, you will see thousands of posts and ideas!….

Seeing all of these photos make me SO HAPPY!

And if you follow me on Instagram, you know that I have had a lot of frontline heroes stop at our house to say thank you to us for building the sign.   They honk as they drive by, or slow down and wave, take pictures of the sign, and I even had one police officer take the time to put a coffee cup and thank you note in our mailbox!

SO SWEET!

It was a great activity to do as a family and was a great use of all this time we have at home now.  :)

Luke put together a video of us making the sign, and we will include it in our Notes from Home video this Friday!  Can’t wait to share it with you!

And if YOU are one of our front-line heroes, let me say again….THANK YOU!!!

STAY SAFE, FRIENDS!!!

xoxo

  1. Traci, how’s Cy’s eye? I’ve had him on the prayer chain, and just wondered if you had any update?

  2. Love it! Turned out amazing! And we are all indeed very appreciative of our frontline heroes. My husband and son are both essential personnel. I am fortunate to be able to work from home remotely.

    Stay safe! Karen
