Wallpaper for the Boys’ Bedroom (Instead of green paint!)

Hello, friends!

I wanted to jump on here and give you an update on the boys’ bedroom.  It’s not a full reveal, but I wanted to let you know what I decided to do on the wall space above the board and batten.

Do you remember how I was trying to decide between green paint….

or sea grass (grass cloth)  wall paper?

I thought for sure I would chose the green paint, but when I painted a piece of poster board the green color I liked, and then put it on the wall above the board and batten, I didn’t like it like I thought I would.

It was okay, but I just couldn’t get myself to commit to it.

When we were in Kentucky a few weeks ago working on the Wilmore house, I had to run to Lowe’s to get a few things.  While I was there, I was moseying down the home decor aisle, and some wallpaper caught my eye.

It was peel and stick wallpaper in a faux grasscloth print.  It was made by Scott Living.

I grabbed just one roll to take back to TN with me to see if I would like it.  I finally decided to try it this past weekend.  I started applying it to the wall and instantly knew I was going to love it.

So I went to Lowe’s and got three more rolls and knocked out the whole room in just a few hours!

Here is a sneak peek…

It went on very easy, and I love the look!  I needed just a little over 3 rolls, so I have some leftover of the fourth roll.

I still need to add sconces above the beds, a rug, and maybe some art, but we are ALMOST finished with this room!

(Cy’s mom made that pillow for Adam over 15 years ago!)

Adam and Eli LOVE the way the room is turning out, and they are glad I went with the grasscloth instead of the green paint.

I hope to do a full reveal of the space here in a week or two.

What do you think?  Have you ever used peel n’ stick wallpaper before?  Thoughts?

I hope y’all have a VERY Blessed weekend!!

Love you bunches!

xoxo

  1. It looks awesome!
When you were asking for opinions… this was my suggestion. It seemed to go better with what you already had going in your home. The green is beautiful but the natural element of the wallpaper just better!
    Love it!
Made me smile seeing you went with that choice!

  2. Looks great!! I love everything you have done with your house. Did Cy quit his job? Just seems like he’s doing more weekday home projects :o)

  3. Oooh, the wall paper is a win-win! It will be easy to keep clean AND give you the look you want!! I am SUPER inspired by the pillow. It is such a personal gift that will last a lifetime! The pillow will go in a special place in my memory (for Things To Do) and one day I want to do one for each of my girls. Have a blessed weekend!

  4. Traci, I love it! I’m with the boys in liking it better than the green paint. I have not used that type of wallpaper before, but I’m more of a painted walls kind of gal. I hope y’all have an awesome weekend! We are having our usual neighborhood bonfire tonight and hopefully tomorrow night as well, if the weather cooperates.

  5. It makes the room look brighter and bigger than the green paint. I love the contrast of the guitars. I’ve never used peel and stick wallpaper. I’m imagining a disaster of bubbles and wrinkles if I do something like that. I really love the board and batten wainscoting. We are just starting to get warmer. Yesterday it was still snowing, tho it was a light snow that didn’t stick around. We don’t have a Home Depot, but I will take a look at it when I go into the big city.

    1. April……she said she got the wallpaper at Lowe’s not Home Depot. Do you have one of those? :) Traci….Love the look of the wallpaper. I like it as 1st choice as it makes the room look lighter and bigger and I think you would get tired of the green painted walls faster. You can do anything.

  6. Love the wallpaper! Can’t wait to see the whole room! Will you let us know how difficult or easy it was to put up? Going to try some below the chair rail in the bathroom.
