Dreaming of Spring: Our Chicken Coop Plans for Backyard Chickens
Right now, we’ve had some warmer weather here in Tennessee, and it has me dreaming of spring. It’s been in the 60’s and will hit 70 today, and our chickens have started laying eggs again after their winter break!👏🏻
I know the temperature will drop again and maybe we will even get some snow at some point, but I know that spring is still right around the corner, and I’m getting excited. I’m dreaming of warmer days, longer evenings, dirt under my fingernails, and the slower routines that come with spending more time outdoors. And to think that we will be living at Four Gables this spring, (Lord willing,) just makes me all the more excited. 🥰
It’s gonna be so much fun to just step outside our home and walk right into our garden and chicken coop. We got some beautiful new baby chicks last fall, and they should be laying eggs this spring. I cannot wait to sit on my back porch and watch the chickens free range. They are so entertaining!
Speaking of chickens, last year I listed the plans for our chicken coop on Etsy, and it’s been fun watching people build our coop!

Preparing for Chickens
If you’ve ever considered raising backyard chickens, this winter season is the perfect time to prepare:
- Learn the basics of chicken care
- Decide where a coop would fit best in your yard
- Build your coop before chicks arrive
- Ease into chicken keeping instead of rushing
Chickens aren’t for everyone, but for those who love a slower, more intentional way of living, they bring so much joy. Collecting eggs is Sania’s favorite part of the day! It’s always a surprise of how many and what colors you will get.

And NOTHING beats the taste fresh farm eggs!
This is exactly why I created my Chicken Coop Building Plans.

They are designed with beginners in mind. They’re straightforward, easy to follow, and even include a complete materials list (with links to the exact products we used at Lowe’s.)

One of the most encouraging parts of sharing these plans has been reading the reviews. Seeing others successfully build this coop, adapt it to their space, and enjoy raising chickens using the plans has been incredibly rewarding.

Traci..I’ve followed you since the beginning..i love keeping up with you the family and everything connected to “Beneath My Heart”…however.. the ads are driving me crazy! they are everywhere, often blocking your content!!
I know they are a necessary income producer.. but..I prefer being able to read YOUR content instead of the ads!
Your blog is one of the remaining few i continue to follow..
the ads will determine how much longer i stay!
Ps the little directory at the left will not stay hidden..it to covers part of your content
Thanks..

Thank you, Lou. I totally agree with you. I hate ads and wish I didn’t have to have them. It’s my main (even though small) income from blogging. I recently asked my ad network to remove some of my ads, which has decreased my income. :( I will talk to them again and see if there are any changes I can make. Thanks for your input. xoxo
