Our Staircase Makeover: Part One

room makeovers· Uncategorized

Yep.

It’s time.

We have lived in this house for almost 7 years, and IT’S TIME!

We are finally tackling our staircase!  Woohoo!

This is a project I have wanted to do since we moved into this house, but with so many other projects that needed to be completed first, my staircase just kept getting bump to the bottom of the “to do” list.

But atlas, no more!

Here we go, ladies!

By the end of the week, (hopefully) I will be revealing my new beautiful staircase!

I made a little video to get us started.
(If you are reading this post in your email, you may have to click on the post title to view the video on my blog.)

Have you completed a makeover on your staircase?
If so, share the link in the comments. I would love to see them! :)
It’s gonna be fun, so be sure to be back tomorrow! :)

I can’t wait to see what you’ve done. Traci, how often does that little table at the bottom of the stairs get bumped? I just pictured all your boys racing down the stairs and crashing into it…. he he Have a great week!

    Hi Traci.

I love how excited your sweetie got when you mentioned stripping. If he wants some stripping instructions, complete with dance moves, I just did a post on restoring wood finish. You might want to check it out.

Good luck. I’m excited to follow along as you redo your stairs.

We JUST did this our selves… like LAST WEEK! We chose a darker color and am now thinking about doing the whole “Black railing” thing for our Bannister. Not sure yet though. WE SHALL SEE!
You can see ours and how we did it here: http://brandinell.blogspot.com/2011/03/new-stairs-yay.html

Hey girl! You KNOW I can’t wait to see what you do with your stairs…ours is on our to do list for this spring! (of course, so is building a window seat, painting our table and chairs and re-upholstering them, re-doing the laundry room….and so forth and so on. I’m thinking something might not get done, but I’m hoping it’s not the stairs..they SO need to be fixed! No more 80’s oak!! argh!) :) I cracked up that you found a pair of underwear in your plant…sounds like something that would happen around here with my boys! lol Oh the life of a mom with lots of boys in the house! :)
Love ya and can’t wait to see what you guys do!
    Hugs!

I am so excited that you are going to do this. I have been begging my husband to take the carpet off our stairs and stain them a dark color (they are presently oak). He refuses to do this so I can’t wait to show him the video. I think he was impressed with the transformation of the brass light fixture.

    Blessings!!!
