Habitat for Humanity House REVEAL! {with GMC and OnStar}

Travel· Uncategorized

8 Aug

I am so thrilled to share this final reveal video with you!

Just to recap, GMC and OnStar sponsored 6 bloggers to travel down the World’s Longest Yard Sale to collect hidden treasures for a special family in Alabama.

Each blogger was given $250 to spend on their assigned room.  We drove down route 127 for three days looking for treasures.  The last day, we had 5 hours to get our treasures ready and decorate our rooms.  It was a huge team effort.

It totally felt like Extreme Makeover Home Edition, and I kept waiting for Ty Pennington to show up with his megaphone!

We didn’t get to do everything exactly like we wanted to, but we worked down to the last second and did the best we could.  We were all very proud with how it turned out, and Alexcia and her children loved their new home.

This is one of the coolest {if not the coolest} things I have done since I started blogging.  It has been a dream of mine to use this blog to help others.  I hope and pray I get more experiences like this in the future because there is nothing more satisfying and gratifying to me.

I hope you have enjoyed coming along on this journey with me!  I have enjoyed sharing it with you!

Now here is the Moore family receiving their new home….

If you have never worked with your local Habitat for Humanity, I encourage you to do so.  I’m going to contact mine and see if I can get involved.

What was your favorite part of the makeover?

*This is not a sponsored post.  I was not paid or required to write this post or share any of my experiences during this 5 day adventure.  GMC and OnStar paid for our travel expenses and that is it.  All of my opinions are my own, and it has been an honor to share my experiences with you.

awwww… I am crying as I watch the reveal! What a blessing to be able to do that together with CY and some other wonderful bloggers and for the wonderful family! LOVED your room, Traci! You did great with a girls room and I am sure you had a blast decorating with all girly things for a change. LOVED her headboard – it was a mantel that you upholstered the middle? And Leen’s graphics just made the room. LOVED the mirror over the dresser too – and the dresser looked amazing too.

and my goodness, y’all must have hit blue mason jar heaven! So envious of all her gorgeous blue mason jars! They are so pretty!

Great job, Traci! and what a privilege and blessing to use what we love to do (yardsale for treasures and decorate) to be a blessing to someone else.

Need to check out my local Habitat too – would love to help on a local project.

I have been anxiously awaiting this video to see how it all came together. You did a fabulous job!! I have said before that you are so beautiful, but the picture of you showing Jurnei her closet, is the most beautiful picture I have ever seen of you, you reflect the love of Christ in that photo. I have tears of happiness for Alexcia and her family. Cy did a wonderful job on his hooks too!

Oh My Goodness!! The entire home is so lovely–and you can see how much thought was put into each room. The look of awe and wonder on little Jurnei’s face when she saw her beautiful and girlie new room was so precious!! And her brother could not stop smiling with his room! How wonderful this is for Alexcia and her children to have a comfortable home to call their own. Bless you all for this gracious gift you have given them…

I am sure God is looking down on all of you and saying, “well done, good and faithful servants!”. Serving others is one of life’s greatest blessings; Just as Jesus demonstrated to us when He walked on this earth. Aww Traci, That was awsome. Having been the mom, starting over with almost nothing and having my online decorating friends come for me, makes me so grateful to be blessed to “know” so many incredible women. I wish the Moore family a lifetime of happiness and many dinners around their table and may it be filled with laughter.

God Bless you and the other Ladies and Cy, you gave that family a gift that will last not only physically a lifetime, but you all also gave this beautiful family a beautiful place to call home.

This was absolutely amazing and totally overwhelming….The year Hurricane Katrina destroyed homes, our home was destroyed in a tornado…The wonderful man who took down our home rebuilt another family’s home in Mississippi with the timber from our home…The fixtures that were salvaged and kitchen cabinets were lovingly accepted by Habitat for Humanity…Your journey brought a completed circle to me…The lives touched through the Moore family are many…Thank you so much..Blessings, Becky
