Beneath My Heart

Barn Makeover

MAKEOVERS

17 Jul

Hey Guys!

I wanted to share a little makeover we have completed on our barn.

I searched and searched my computer for pictures of our barn when we first moved in our house two years ago, but alas, I couldn’t find any.

The only one I could find was the backside of our barn.

pallet wood windows

I probably never took any pictures of the front of our barn because it was…well…ugly.

The doors were rotting and the windows were a mess.

Last summer, Cy’s dad, Pop began helping us make some new doors for our barn.

You can see a picture of the front of the barn in this picture below.  Pop is showing the boys how to make the door.

Well, that is as far as we got last summer, so when Pop came back to visit while I was in Nicaragua last month, he helped Cy finish the doors, AND he used some pallet wood to create these beautiful window covers!

And Cy added those two barn lights on each side of the door.

This barn is right at the end of our driveway, so it’s the first thing you see as you pull up to our house.

Doesn’t it look so much better?!!!

I wanted to “prett-i-fy” the barn, so I added some window baskets from Lowe’s on each side.

Eli helped me clipped the tags off the window boxes.

Then I filled the window boxes with some beautiful flowers.

When I uploaded these pictures on my computer, I noticed my little “helper” hammering something on the side of the barn!  Sweetness‘

I absolutely LOVE these window boxes, y’all!

And I love the contrast of the flowers against the pallet wood window covers.

Now this barn makes me happy!

I love pulling up to the house now and seeing our pretty barn!

So what do you think?  Do you like our barn’s new look?

Your property is perfect for your growing boys! Room to play and all they are learning from the projects being done! Love the barn. The flower boxes and the lights did it for me! The guest cottage…that will be fun too! Can’t wait. I enjoy your blog a lot!

Love it! Window boxes are such an easy update and make things so cheerful, we have them on our drab gray front exterior and they brighten it up so much!

How fun to have doors that remind you of a loved one. And it does look so pretty. I’ve been having fun with pallet wood lately as well. You guys are so clever to think of using it for shutters.

I love it! If it was my barn i would put the matching black handles from the hinge hardware on the shutters to show where they open in the middle. I think it would add even more cottage charm!

jt is great. turned out better than a project my father let a young shirt tail relative do for him. The young man was in between jobs and needed some \thing to tie him over. Your comment about how pretty and pleasant it is to drive in your driveway and see your pretty new barn front. Just think about the shock if all your doors and shutters were HIGHWATER !!! then the fellow gave Dad a price for correcting them plus all the lumber he would have to re purchase..

I love it! I want a barn in my back yard even if it’s a tiny little barn. Just something to decorate and call my own space. :) a cow and chickens would be nice too, but no room.

I love how the window baskets look. Are those shutters that open and close or coverings that don’t open
