Haven Rocked My World! {and the DIY SHUFFLE!}

Oh my, oh my, oh my!

I remember last year after Haven, the planning team and I were on a huge “high” over how successful our first conference was.

I didn’t think it was possible, but this year after Haven, I am even higher than high!

I know that I was on the planning team for Haven, and I am trying not to sound like I am tooting my own horn, but seriously y’all, Haven Rocked My World!!!

The venue, the Grand Hyatt in Buckhead, was absolutely amazing!

The Haven sponsors and vendors were incredible!

The food was out of this world delish!

The attendees were so stinkin’ adorable!!!

The time I got to spend with my “home girls” was too precious for words.

I still can’t get over it all.

I was so busy that I didn’t have time to take a bunch of pictures, but I did “borrow” some from other bloggers. Smile

Here is me and Rhoda at the Welcome reception!

Of course, my sister and I met up with the Shanty Sisters.

We love these girls!  And we love goofing off with them.  Here we are in a little Sisters VS. Sisters brawl…

As you can tell, I could totally take those girls down by myself.  I think I could actually blow them over, they are so skinny! Smile

The next day, the conference started with the fabulous Ana White as our Keynote Speaker.  haven conference 2013She was adorable and wonderful!

After Ana spoke, we surprised everyone with the “DIY Shuffle!”

Since Haven last year, I have been wanting to make up a fun dance for the conference.  So this year, I created the “DIY Shuffle” and taught it to the attendees.  We had so much fun with this dance!!!

Many of you who read my blog probably have never seen this side of me.   Smile

I love to dance.  Ironically, I never do, except for at blog conferences.  hee.hee.

The night before the Opening Session, I taught this dance to some of my “home girls,” and they helped me teach it to the attendees the next day.

Then we were able to do the “DIY Shuffle” at the Ryobi dance and other times throughout the conference.

To learn what the moves of the “DIY Shuffle” mean, you can watch this video to find out.

But Haven wasn’t just about dancing!

It was about learning how to be a better blogger…

And how to use power tools…

  2. oh sweet mother of all DIY shuffles!
    you are SO hi-larry-us.
and most certainly the best blogger dancer DIYer ever.
    love you and miss you.

    1. Thank you, sweet Edie! I know you would be rocking it with me, if you were there!
I hope you had a great time at the Becoming Conference. I would love to hear about it. :)

  3. OMG, this is epic! I so totally want to go to Haven next year, quick I have to go DIY my 2014 calendar and mark off that month!

  4. That is the best dance ever!! Great to watch and probably fun to do. I can’t wait to attend a Haven conference. But it probably won’t be in the budget for next year.

  5. That’s terribly sad Sylvia! No wonder you feel the way you do. I can’t imagine how hard that must have been on you and your students, and of course the family of the child who was killed. You’ve given us something to think about.

Traci, I so enjoyed meeting you, albeit briefly. Love the dance and now that I’ve seen it again I can practice it and show it off ;).

  6. Oh my word Traci.. You and your girls are just too dang cute!! Now I want to be a blogger just so I can do the DIY Shuffle!! :) adorable!! I too want to know what Cy and your boys thought about their mommas dance??? Love it!!

  7. I want to (DIY Shuffle) party with YOU, Traci!! Congratulations on another awesome year of Haven! And good luck to you in your new teaching assistant job. Those kiddos will be majorly lucky to have you!! Can’t wait to hear about your adventures!

Paint it. Paint it. Paint it. Paint it. (I’m going to have the DIY Shuffle words in my head the rest of the day!!). You Go Girl!

  8. What a great dance you made up!!! It is awesome. I liked every part of it and your enthusiasm is amazing. Thanks for posting Haven for us that don’t get to go. Maybe you can teach your new “kiddies” the “THE DIY SHUFFLE”, they’d love it! Good luck on your first day at school tomorrow. The kids are going to adore you. I so admire you helping your hubby. I have owned my own decorating business for 24 years and there are so many difficult times that it really helps to have your spouse have a steady income. Times are tough and in the decorating field in a small town in North Louisiana there’s not much work. God Bless you and your beautiful family. Blessings and Hugs!

  9. Lol – that song has not been the same for me since Haven! My family thinks I’m nuts, but I don’t care… I break out into the DIY Shuffle every time. May even have to teach my mother-in-law. :-)
Thanks again for yet ANOTHER amazing conference, Traci! I’ll be back in 2014!
    xo Heidi
