My Wellness Journey Update {Let’s Talk KETO!}

Hey friends!

This week, I am sharing an update on my Wellness Journey!  And I can sum it up with, “I’m not where I want to be, but I am definitely headed in the right direction!”

If you are new to my blog and haven’t been following my journey very long, you can catch up HERE.

But basically, I used to be a fit person, and when I hit 40, the wheels fell off of everything.  My metabolism became nonexistent.  I gained about 40 pounds, and I felt like a sloth.

So in February of this past year, I had finally had enough, and I decided I wanted my life back.  So I signed up for the FASTer Way to Fat Loss and began loosing weight and feeling more healthy.

I stayed steady on that program through July and then I began to lose steam.  I was still working out and eating “more” healthy, but I had let old habits begin making their way back into my life.  (Like drinking large cokes from McDonalds, eating entire large tubs of movie popcorn by myself, chocolate chip cookies out the wha zoo, etc., etc…..)

It pretty much took me all of August and part of September to finally get back on track, and it started with learning more about KETO.  (I learned about KETO through the FASTer Way to Fat Loss VIP group.)

Have you heard about KETO?  It’s basically a food plan consisting of high fats, moderate protein, and very low carbs. You can read more about it HERE.https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/keto

The results have been awesome!

Main benefits for me have been:

-Continual weight loss

-Never hungry

-More energy

-Mental Clarity (aka:  no brain fog)

The mental clarity and more energy part has been life changing.  I don’t know about you, but I have suffered from some serious “brain fog” for several years now.  It’s like a big bowl of marshmallow fluff up there!  But ever since I have been on the KETO diet, my brain is more clear, and I am so much more focused!  And because I am not exhausted, but instead have more energy, I am getting 2 to 3 times more work done during the day.

Oh, and did I mention that I am sleeping better?  Like in that REALLY deep, deep sleep where you have tons of cray cray dreams?

Yes.  That kind.

I checked my weight loss in My Fitness Pal, and I am currently down almost 20 pounds since February.   To get to my goal weight, I actually have about 30  more pounds to lose.   Now, I know y’all are thinking I probably don’t have 30 pounds to lose, but I promise I do.  Even if I lose 30 pounds, I will still be about 10 pounds over what “they” say is healthy at my height.  :)

{who are they anyway?}

I had Adam snap a few pictures of me in my front yard today to give you a “visual” update.

Y’all know I have a hard time taking serious pictures of myself, so there ya go!!

I’m hoping to share more with you about my Keto eating program, but I’m not that organized with it yet.  :)

Until then, I’m gonna just keep chugging along.

Have a blessed day, friends!

xoxo

Traci

  1. So awesome! I’ve been doing keto too! I’ve lost 25 lbs in about 15 weeks or so. I feel so much better and honestly would eat this lifestyle even if I didn’t lose weight – I just feel so much healthier. Glad you are taking care of yourself. Congrats on your weight loss!!!

  2. I’ve been Keto for over a year now and I’ve never felt better! I’m excited to hear about your journey; thank you for sharing!

  3. Please share more about your keto journey! I’ve been doing it for about 6 weeks, feel much better, have lost about 10 pounds. My niece has been doing it for about a year and is down 100 pounds! We all need encouragement, ideas, etc.

  4. I never had a problem with my weight and like you when I turned 40 everything changed. I started gaining weight and couldn’t seem to lose. I’m in my 50’s now and I go on a diet only to gain it back. I’m looking to forward to seeing what Kato is all about. Thanks for sharing and you look great.

    1. You sound just like me! I hit 40 and my metabolism tanked. :( Keto has definitely helped my body to start burning fat again, I would definitely check it out if I were you!

  5. I’ve been keto going on two years. I can’t even begin to tell you how much better I feel! I haven’t had sugar, flour, French fries, bread, fruit or wine in two years. I basically only eat whole foods that consist of meat with a veggie or salad. I occasionally have berries and greek yogurt. I come to realize that I can’t eat certain things at all or I eventually derail my efforts. I don’t usually tell anyone that I eat this way because then they go on to tell me how bad it is for my body. Well I’m here to tell you my blood work has been amazing. I lost 68 lbs in total. I’m 55 and I’m wearing the same size as I did in my 20’s. Looking forward to hearing about your success. If I can do this anyone can!

    1. THAT IS AWESOME!! I am so glad to hear you have been doing this for 2 years. I genuinely plan to keep this as the way I eat. I may have a sweet every now and then, on special occasions, but other than that, it’s Keto for me! ;) Don’t be ashamed to talk about it. People are catching on to the Keto craze and I believe many more people will be eating this way soon. :)

  6. I eat Keto for health reasons – Lyme disease and seizure disorder – and it’s been so helpful! So glad you are seeing great results on it, too. You are beautiful and am thankful you’re sharing your EO, family, health and DIY journeys with us :). God bless you!

  7. I have heard of the KETO diet, but never tried. Thanks for the inspiration. I am going to look into NOW !

    You look great !

  8. Thanks Traci I love reading about your wellness journey. I learn so much. I just read the information about the Keto diet and am going to give it a try. Because of you I was on the faster way to fat loss program and also lost 20 pounds and I think this Keto diet will help me lose 10 more. You are my inspiration!

  9. You look great. Proud of you. Get rid of that soda, though. Not just for weight, it’s horrible. You got this. Looking forward to more posts on your new journey.

  10. My daughter started Keto today … I had never heard of it prior to last night. Then today I see your post. I had my fifth baby 2 days before my 40th, almost 18 years ago. I lost the “baby” weight, but have since gained it back and no matter what I try, I can’t seem to get rid of it. Suzanne’s comment inspires me! I’m going to also check out your link. Like you … no energy, not sleeping well, totally foggy brain … I need to do SOMETHING! Thanks for the inspiration!

  11. Thanks for the encouragement. Have you started running again? I really need to get back to it, but also I need to eat fewer nuts. Sure, they’re healthy, but for me it’s another food group that I could eat exclusively. I’m doing better. I “only ” have about 10lbs. to lose, but it’s been very hard to lose and keep it off. I don’t know what’s wrong with my brain, but I can’t seem to stick with it long enough to lose it all.

  12. Traci, I unfortunately live on steroids and will continue to do so for the rest of my life. If I eat anywhere near what I would like, I would gain a hundred pounds! I see a specialist that people fly in to see from all over the country. I am lucky that I only have to drive an hour or so. I wanted to lose thirty pounds for my son’s wedding. KETO is the ONLY way I can lose weight. A regular calorie counting diet (and I did 1,200-1,300 calories) only kept me from gaining weight. My doctor kept at me until I started KETO. I lost twenty five pounds for the wedding and never starved even though I may have drempt about noodles. There are wonderful KETO forums on Facebook with fantastic tips and lots of courage. My daughter is now on it too!!! Kudos to you on your weight loss and finding a truly healthy way to lose weight.
