Fun and Easy Halloween Decor

Fall is here, and my kiddos are so excited that Halloween is just around the corner!  Trick-or-Treating is one of their favorite events, and they are counting down the days til October 31st.

We don’t go overboard with Halloween decor, but I think it is fun to pick a spot in our home to decorate.  Since we spend most of our time in the kitchen, I decided that my new sideboard area would be the perfect spot to add a little fun Halloween decor.

Here is what it looked like before I went shopping at JOANN for Halloween decor…

And here’s the after!  Isn’t it fun?!!

JOANN has aisles and aisles of some of the cutest Halloween decor!  I fell in love with all of the cute, sparkly pumpkins and knew that I wanted to add them to my decor.

They also have a ton of creative projects that you can do with your children, or yourself for that matter!  I purchased two of these paper mache pumpkins to paint white.

I enlisted Sania’s help one night to paint the pumpkins.  She LOVED it!  She painted both pumpkins white and the stems black.

We let the pumpkins dry overnight, and the next day, I applied this adorable bling decor!

This was probably my favorite part of my Halloween decor.  It was so easy, but it looked like it took a lot longer.  And it was so cute and sparkly!

The cool thing about this bling decor is that you can apply it the way it looks on the package, or you can arrange it in a completely different way.

I tried to apply mine to look like the pumpkin on the package because I liked that design a lot.

For the Jack-0-Lantern bling, I decided to put it on the smaller pumpkin.

It was very easy to apply as well.  Did you know you can use this bling decor on regular pumpkins too?  It pretty much sticks to anything, so it wouldn’t even have to be a pumpkin!  Get creative! :)

I placed the small white pumpkin on the Maker’s Halloween Small Spider Web Pumpkin Holder   to give my decor some height and dimension.

I also purchased this cute Heidi Swapp bat garland to hang around my mirror.

It was easy to put together and was actually a lot longer than I expected.  It takes one AA battery and has an on/off switch.

Don’t the bats look cute hanging on my mirror?  I used just regular scotch tape to attach the bats where I needed them to stay.  The bats were very sturdy and adhere well to the frame and lamp.

To add a little more glow to my decor in the evenings, I purchased this Tulip Jar Graveyard Decorating Kit.

I used some jars I already around my house to decorate.  The first step is to paint the inside of your jars with the glow paint.  This paint dries and will show up with UV light.  I do not have a UV light, but completed this step anyway.

The kit comes with a lot of different sticker templates to chose from, and you cut out the ones you want to use and stick them to the front of your jars.

The you apply the black 3D paint over the template and let it dry.

Once you remove the sticker, you place one of the three flicker lights that was included in the kit inside the jar.

As you can see in the pictures, I added a Heavy Chandelle Boas in Black  to add some texture to my decor. I was so excited when I added to my decor because it filled in all of the empty spaces so well!  It’s such a fun and whimsical touch!

JOANN has sooooooo many adorable pumpkins of all types to choose from.  I seriously wanted all of them!  But I decided to stick with the ones that had some sparkle and glitter to them.  I couldn’t help myself. ;)

Look who I caught in my next photo!  Do you see her?

That’s our cat, Journey!  She was the perfect touch to my Halloween decor! haha!

When I saw this little “It’s All About The Candy” sign, I knew I had to get it.  That is my kid’s motto for sure!

It also lights up which is super cool.

I turned the lights on in my decor, and it looked great!

The glow of the flicker lights in the silhouette jars adds a great ambiance.

I tried to take pictures at night, but the lights gave off too much of a glare, so I had to take pictures during the evening.

This side table is right beside the kitchen door, and we see this decor each time we come in and out.  It definitely sets a festive tone!

Have you decorated for Halloween yet?  If not, be sure to stop by JOANN, or visit online, and check out their wide selection of decor.  You will be amazed!

And if you do, snap a picture and share it with me.  I’d love to see it!!

  1. Love the Halloween decor! You girls did a great job! Loved the Sania post yesterday also. You handled the questions so well. She is a blessed little girl to have you and your family but I know she’s been a huge blessing to your family also. 😍

  2. Such fun! I have a JoAnn store just a few minutes from my house, but I haven’t been there in awhile–looks like they have lots of good fall items! Y’all did a good job of making things look Halloween-ready but not over-the-top.
