The 2021 Krylon Color Palette – DIY Tablescape
*I partnered with Krylon for the announcement of the 2021 Krylon Color Palette. All opinions and ideas are 100% mine.
I am excited to announce THE 2021 KRYLON COLOR PALETTE,
and share a DIY tablescape I created with the “Rooted in Nature” color story!
Krylon has chosen 12 beautiful colors for the The 2021 KRYLON Color Palette and placed them in 3 different color “stories.”
The 3 different “color stories” are…. Rooted in Nature, New Heritage, and Digitally Reimagined.
The color story that I was given to decorate with is called “Rooted in Nature.” It is a beautiful combination of colors including Satin Pistachio, Satin Jade, Satin Terra-cotta, and Metallic Gold.
To showcase these four colors, I decided to create a DIY tablescape, and I am in LOVE with how it turned out!
Most of the decor on the table was from the Dollar Tree, but spraying the items with Krylon’s color story, “Rooted in Nature,” helped to take them to the next level and gave my tablescape an inexpensive look!
For my centerpiece, I covered the top of a large glass vase with painter’s tape and spray painted the bottom, Metallic Gold.
I used the same Metallic Gold spray paint to paint small votive candles.
(*side note: The gold rimmed crystal wine glasses and china plates were given to me as wedding gifts almost 24 years ago. I did NOT spray paint my stemware and do not recommend doing so.)
To add a pop of color under my china plates, I spray painted some $1 chargers Satin Jade.
To bring in the rich, deep Satin Terracotta color to my tablescape, I spray painted some small plastic bowls (6 for $1,) and two wooden boxes to hold some greenery and flowers.
Lastly, I took two $1 glass bud vases and painted them Satin Pistachio, and instead of using them for flowers, I decided to turn them into candle holders instead!
Once I painted all of my dollar store items and placed them on my table, I went and bought some fresh flowers for my centerpiece. I also used some of those fresh flowers to go in my Satin Terracotta plastic cups on the plates and in the wooden boxes on the table runner.
My table is literally “Rooted in Nature!” {wink}
I left this tablescape up for about a week while my flowers were still fresh and beautiful. We enjoyed eating dinner together as a family on this tablescape. It made each meal extra special.
And it looked even MORE beautiful under the warm glow of candlelight.
I hope you enjoyed my DIY tablescape! I definitely had fun creating it and hope you received some inspiration to try this “color story” in a future DIY project as well.

Thank you, Sandy!
Absolutely beautiful and inspiring. What is the source for that runner?
That’s amazing. It’s beautiful. Love those colors. You are so gifted. You did a great job. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much, Pam!

It’s amazing how inexpensive items combined with paint can transform them into beauty. My favorite picture was the one taken with the candles lit. Your table looked elegant in the candlelight.
Thank you, Lauretta! Yes, the glow of the candles made it feel so special! I enjoyed the tablescape every single day we left it out. xoxo
Oh my goodness. This is so pretty and you just had to use the Krylon paint. I can’t believe how beautiful it turned out. Great job. It’s amazing what you can paint from the dollar store. I love the color combo they chose for you to use. Thanks for sharing. I only get your emails and I’ve been wondering where you’ve been. I’ve missed your posts and you telling us what’s up with your family. Glad you are back after your much needed break. I almost emailed your sisters blog to see if you all were ok. :)
Hi Kathy! Thanks so much! I am going to try and be more faithful in writing my blog posts. I want it to be my main form of communicating with my online friends. I don’t know if social platforms will always be around, so I want to “invest” more in my blog community. Thanks for being here! xoxo
Great ideas with the spray paint! Is that metallic gold the same gold color you used to spray paint the lights on your “she shed” a few months ago? I love the idea of spray painting gold paint on the bottom of a glass vase. That looks so pretty!
Hi Kristen! No, I used a different color on my shed lights. This color is more of a bright gold. Thanks so much!
Love it, will have to try the gold paint vase! And love the colors
Thank you!!
Absolutely loved your Table Scape. You really outdid yourself on these ideas. It gave me some ideas that I want to try myself.
The new Krylon colors are beautiful, very springy. Can’t wait to start spraying.
Thank you, Susan! I’m excited about spring too!!
Goodness….you are so GOOD at all things decorating. I love this!!! I wish I had your creative vision. :)
Aw, thank you, Melanie! You’re so sweet!
That looks great!!
Thanks, Gina!
I loved this! The pistachio vases look like the old jade ware my grandma had. What fun!
Yes! They do remind me of vintage jade items. :)
It’s gorgeous, Traci! I never would have guessed that so many of these items were spray painted!!
Thanks, Beth!
Your “candlesticks” almost look like vintage jadeite!!!! Great job…..the whole table looks beautiful….wish I could think outside the box when I roam Dollar Tree!!!
Yes, I agree! It does remind me of Jadeite! Thank you so much!
Looks beautiful! You’re so creative and the flowers added a special touch to the gorgeous colors!
Thank you, Pat! I found the flowers at Kroger and just fell in love with how they complimented my color story. xoxo
Beautiful tablescape Traci! You really have some great ideas and everything looks lovely!
Thank you, Debbie!
I love spray. It’s always an amazing transition. It’s also economical.
Your tablescape is lovely.

I absolutely love how you used those colors to spray paint inexpensive items! I also spray paint ALL THE TIME!
Thank you, Susan!!
Love this!! What a great idea too spray paint dollar store chargers!! Love this color story!!
Thank you, Marla!
Thanks ever so kindly for bringing beauty into my world. It has been a year since I have been out and being able to create and love it by being taught by such a lovely person just makes staying home that much nicer. I looked on the Krylon website and I could not find the satin pistachio or the satin jade. You may have represented it so well that they sold out…lol Any ideas? That’s a silly question to ask you. Thanks for a reply.
Hi Reba! I am so glad you enjoyed my tablescape! Here is a link to it at lower: https://bit.ly/3sYaTF6. Pistachio is available with those links too.
Tracy,
Excellent use of money to set a beautiful table. I love your style in this one especially!
JoAnn
Thank you so much, JoAnn!
Looks so beautiful!! Love your creativity—I can’t believe those items are from the dollar store—what a fun and affordable project!
Thanks, Crystal!!
This is all very beautiful! I especially love the way you painted the bottom of the glass vase with gold paint. I plan to copy that idea soon. Thanks so much for all of the great inspiration!
Awesome, thank you, Jeanine!
Looks beautiful! I love seeing Dollar Store items transformed into exquisite beauties! You knocked this one out of the park!
Thanks so much, Janet!
Love the colors! Such a pleasing set up. The use of the Dollar Tree items is my kind of creative.
Thanks, Gail!
Ahhhh, I’m so happy for you! Good call to give yourself a break! I think lots of people are walking into 2021 with similar plans to take on the year differently. Thank you for being a leader and setting an example of boundaries and self-care!!
This tablescape IS. THE. BOMB!! My family is excited if we just get all the mail off the table so we can eat together.
This would blow them away. Of all the color stories, they gave you the best one. And you really used just the right amount of everything. ;-) I know great things can be done with dollar store items, but until I see examples like yours I wouldn’t know what to do. This is just fantastic.
If I had a product to promote, you would be the perfect person to give it to. You do amazing creative things that really inspire us!!
Thanks for being you and thanks for all you do!!!
Haha! “get the mail off the table”. That’s my house too! Our kitchen table is a “catch all” and I’m always moving stuff off so we can eat together. haha! Having the tablescape up for a week kept the mail off the table and it was glorious! haha!
Thanks for all the sweet words about my tablescape. So kind! xoxo
So good to have you back. I’ve missed you. I love this color combination and will definitely try painting some Dollar Tree items. A great way to take inexpensive items up a notch.
Thank you, Sylvia! It feels good to be missed! xoxo
That’s a beautiful palette and you pulled it all together into a high-end look. Love following along! I’m glad you took some time off. It’s healing and refreshing. For the first time in my 65 years I allowed myself to do nothing without guilt over my company’s annual holiday shutdown (almost 2 weeks). Lived in my pjs, ate when and what I wanted, socialized if the bug bit me (means I made a phone call, lol)…It was excellent!
Aw, Guerrina! That sounds wonderful! I’ve been spending extra time in my pjs too, and it’s been refreshing! :) So glad you had that break as well! Blessings, Traci
I love the idea of turning the vases into candle holders!
Thanks, Kristin! It was a fun little twist to the table! xoxo
Hi Traci,
You really knocked it out of the ballpark with this DIY.! I love the colours and of course how you kept it economical.
And this colour palette is my favourite. I do not consider myself very creative but this is doable. Can hardly wait to give my old chargers a facelift!
Aw, Vivian! THANK YOU! I’m so glad you like this project and are inspired to paint something yourself! Let me know if you paint your chargers. :)
xoxo
Traci! How pretty and cleaver! I never would have thought to spray paint anything and since you’ve been at this sharing different things to paint I’m looking at my old junk thinking . . . Hmm. . . Maybe I can do that to! I think you should start a monthly “What shall I paint today” segment! I love the dollar store finds to! How cool. Thanks for the neat ideas! And thanks to Krylon for partnering with you! They have a gem in you for sure!
Rosa! I love that idea! I wrote that down, and will look into doing that! Thanks for the encouragement and idea!
xoxo
Traci
Love the tablescape! I’ve never thought about painting chargers. I have lots, now I’ll paint them the colors I need! Love you blog. Don’t blame you for taking some time off, we all need time to recharge! I love your blog!
Thank you, Marcella! Yes, painting chargers is so fun! You can even paint over the already painted chargers…you can reuse them over and over!
Thanks for following me here over on my blog. xoxo
Traci!!! How beautiful! It looks elegant and I agree with another viewer about the photo with the candles lit. I love the colors of the flowers you chose too. The Nature palette was my favorite out of those palette choices. You give some great ideas how to use paint to spruce up the dining room!
Thank you, Deb! I found those flowers at Kroger! I took two bunches and mixed them together, but I loved the way they complimented my krylon paint colors. Have a blessed day!
these are such pretty colors when you show them on your tablescape. I am intrigued by Satin Jade… may have to try it to see if it is close enough to one of my favorite light turquoise colors.
Thank you! Yes, the Satin Jade is a gorgeous color!
It’s beautiful! I love the creative ways you used items from the dollar store. So many great ideas!
Thank you, Stacy!
It’s all beautiful. You’ve done a great job, as always!
Thank you, Donna!
So beautiful! Thank you for always giving us such great ideas. I can’t wait to take some of my items and utilize your creative ideas! I’m sure your family felt extra special with dinner served and shared at your beautiful table. ❤️
Thank you, Cynthia! I’m glad you like it! It was fun to have dinner at a “fancy” table. :)
How beautiful! I love your creativity and how you chose to use each of the colors. The table looks very inviting.
Thank you, Ginger!
Traci, you are the spray paint Queen! Gorgeous table, I’m surprised you can get your boys to eat at such h an elegant setting, glad to hear there are still families that sit at a table together instead of trays watching TV. AND with candlelight no less. Glad you took some time to be gentle with yourself, you deserve it and it’s good to know “Mrs Wonderwoman” is also human and needs a break sometimes. Blessings to you and your beautiful family.
Thank you, Denise! My boys thought it was a treat! haha! I am so thankful that my boys are always so supportive on what I do here on the blog. They kept telling me my table was pretty. LOVE THEM SO MUCH!! Thanks for allowing me the “break.” I did need to step back for a bit, but I feel like I’m getting my groove back. haha! Have a blessed day, friend!
Traci, you’ve done again! I love all the things you do with the Krylon paints. You have inspired me to try something new. I know your mom would be so proud of you.
Aw, thank you Susan!! xoxo
Your table is beautiful and your family is enjoying the results. Thank you for this simple, cheap and pretty tablescape.

I love the color story and love the idea of spray painting the chargers! I may have to try that…
