Landscaping Around Our Pond House
At the beginning of August, I began itching to landscape the area around our Pond House.
After having two of my sons get married and move out this past year, I had a little more time on my hands. And even though we are building a house right now, there isn’t really much I can do at this stage. Cy is building our home, and I am waiting my turn to decorate it! 😂
Our pond house is such a sweet little spot nestled among some trees down by our pond, (thus the name!🤪). But we hadn’t done anything new to it since last year.

Landscaping around the pond house was something I knew I could do mostly by myself, and it wouldn’t cost a ton of money.
We have a lot of rocks on our property. They are large, yellow/orangey rocks, and honestly, I don’t think they are very pretty. I wanted to use them up on the hill around the garden, but they just didn’t look good. I want to use gray rock up on the hill.

However, the rocks are the perfect color for down at the pond house! So Sania and I spent several days filling up the back of the ATV with large rocks and riding them down to the pond house.
The first thing we did was create a circle around a large tree to fill with plants.

Just doing that made the spot start to feel so cozy, and then I knew I wanted to do more!
So we gathered many more rocks from around the property in the ATV and used them to create a border around the right side of the house.

We curved the rocks around each side of the front porch. At first, I thought I could use plants to hide the large opening below the porches. However, I realized that it wouldn’t look as good as I wanted it too.

So Eli helped me added some wood boards under the porch, and I began filling the landscaping up with new dirt from Lowe’s, and a few plants.

I also thought the boards would look better painted “Ebony Fields” by Valspar to match the house, so I painted them. I LOVE the way it turned out!

While I had the paint out, I also painted the trim on the roof.
And Sania helped me paint the boards Eli installed under the back porch too…

We have a lot of trees around the pond house, so it took me a while to find plants that do well in partial sun and won’t be eaten by deer.

But I finally found some that I think will do well, I and just love how cozy our pond house feels now!
The landscaping looks so good with my freshly stained and sealed porch.

I hope to add some new gravel all around the porch, tree, and fire pit area, but we don’t have the time or money for that right now. #someday
I also added some fall decor to the porch…

I found the Come In and Cozy Up and black and white doormat at Hobby Lobby.
The pond house is such a sweet little spot, and now that the outside looks so cute, I’m excited to do more work on the inside. 😉

Autumn has arrived and the leaves are falling. We have already had several campfires down by the pond house, and I know this is a spot we will enjoy for years!
I always get asked on instagram what we are using this house for, and the answer is for family and friends to enjoy. We might could airbnb it in the future, but we don’t know if we will.
I’ll be sharing more about this little house in the future, so stay tuned….❤️
Have a blessed day, friends!

Traci, It is all beautiful!! I love the added boards and your plant choices. Most of all, I love the rocks as they are such a representation of biblical faith. If you have lots of rocks on your property, you can build your own Ebenezer somewhere!
I love that, Karlee! Thanks for sharing!
I love how it turned out Traci. It feels so warm now just adding a few touches. I’m sure you will decorate it some for Christmas also!🎄 looking forward to seeing the inside finished as well.
Blessings
Thank you, Holly! I am definitely excited about working on the inside!
Love what you do !!
Thanks so much, Karen!
So warm and inviting, you did a great job! I love the natural wood with the dark exterior! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Jodi!
