Solar Outdoor Lights for our Property
One of my favorite things to do is add lighting to our property.
Y’all know that I have LOVED putting lights in and around my garden!

I’ve shown you the electric string lights that we have around the perimeter of our garden, and the solar twinkle lights I have on my trellises, but I haven’t show you the solar lights I put at garden gate entrance!
Here is what my garden gate looked like earlier this summer…

See how I had barrel planters on each side of the gate? Well, at night, the gate area was dark, and I wanted to have lights shining on each planter. I found some lights I loved on Amazon…
The only problem was they were black, not gold. I tried to find gold solar lights, but couldn’t find any I liked. (Really couldn’t find many at all!) I bought the black ones anyway, and used Rub n buff in “gold leaf” to make them the gold I wanted.

It was the same “gold leaf” rub n buff that I put on the gate hardware. I rubbed it all over the light except on top where the solar panel is located. I had never used rub n buff on outdoor items, but it has held up perfectly all summer long! I’ve been pleasantly surprised.
I may have to touch them up in the spring, but I am find with that. It’s super easy.

I just LOVE the way they turned out, and they add the perfect touch of light to my garden gate every night!

I’ve also added solar barn lights from Lowes to two more spots on our property!
One spot is down by the bridge we built that connects our current back yard to the pond house area.

We use this bridge every day, whether going down to the pond house or taking the long way up to Four Gables.
However at night, it gets dark down there, and I wanted to add some light. Since we don’t have electricity there we can use, I chose to install these solar barn lights…

We installed the light at the top of the tree with screws, and then we added the solar panel at the bottom of the tree. The solar panel is attached with a removable wire to the barn light, and we wrapped it around the back of the tree. The solar panel can also be moved around to different angles to face the sun.

It’s the perfect amount a light and gives a warm glow to walk across the bridge at night

The other spot that I put a solar barn light was down on what I call the “peninsula” on the pond.

This an area that Sania likes to fish at, and we have two old Adirondack chairs (that Jonathan built a few years ago,) with a little fire pit beside them.

Eventually, I want to put gravel down on the peninsula and get some new chairs and fire pit. It’s fun to sit there by the fire at night, but it always needs a little more lighting. So we attached one of the solar barn lights to the tree.

I love the light that it gives to the area, and it gives a warm ambience when walking around the pond at night.

I have a couple more spots around the property that I want to install solar lights. I love that they require no electricity! They usually stay on most of the night, depending on how sunny it was that day.
Do you have any solar lights on your property?

Perfect idea and I love all the areas you put them. The property you own is just so beautiful and you’ve done so much in such a short period of time. Does Cy ever sleep? LOL I don’t know how he keeps up on the new build and his remodel business and helping you around the property with your projects. You both work so well together and independently. Enjoy!!!!!!
Thank you, Kathy! We both are busy bodies and don’t like to sit down much, but Cy has to pace himself with everything and not overdo it. We love developing our property and working on it. :)
hey girl- Love the lights! Oh so cool!
Thanks!
Solar lights are on my list of things to purchase after living over a week without power! A generator is also on that list once I get everything cleared on my property and my roof repaired. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers for the areas affected by Helene. It’s going to be a long time rebuilding and replacing things. The heartbreaking thing is all the lives lost. Those can’t be replaced.
Gayle, I am so thankful you are okay, and I pray that you can get things back in order soon. I am continually praying for everyone and giving where I can. I am heartbroken over the lives lost as well.
Brilliant! Will have to put this into our backyard design!
I really do love them!
So beautiful! So very impressive! You are amazing and I have loved watching your beautiful slice of heaven on earth evolve. God is so good and His blessings overflow. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you, Karlee! It’s fun working on the property!
Everything looks so beautiful. I really love the lights by the bridge/pond.
Thank you, Cassie!
My hubby is building a pergola on our patio. It will be about 10′ x 16′. He asked what kind of lights I want to have on it when it is finished. Electric lights are not my first choice but some LED lights are simply not bright enough. I prefer soft white to cool white. I want them to be clear bulbs and either round or light bulb shape💡. My first thought was to ask you. It looks like you have them around your garden area. I love Amazon so they’ll probably come from there. Do you have any recommendations? Thanks.
