Pond House Kitchenette Update

We’ve made some progress in our Pond House Kitchenette!

After working on the exterior a lot this fall, I was excited to start working on the inside. For over a year, we have had stock cabinets from Lowe’s and a butcher block countertop in the pond house next to the fridge.

I decided that I wanted to paint the cabinets a sage green color, so I painted some swatches on the them.

The color I chose was Sherwin Williams Sage Green Light, and I loved it!! Cy retro-fitted the stock cabinets to fit the new apron sink from Lowe’s.

I chose the DeerValley Grove Farmhouse Apron Front 30-in x 18-in White Fireclay Single Bowl Kitchen Sink. It is absolutely beautiful!

Cy drilled holes in the butcher block for my new faucet.

I chose the Mondawe Brushed Gold Double Handle Bridge Kitchen Faucet from Lowe’s. I love the vintage look of this faucet.

Cy cut down the original doors to a smaller size to fit under the apron sink, and then I painted everything. I still have to find some gold hardware for the cabinets.

For the butcher block countertop, I used the Minwax stain in the color Provencial. And I sealed it with three coats of Minwax’s fast drying Polyurethane.

I love the look of the darker stain. Darker and warmer wood tones are coming back in style, and the Pond House is the perfect place for me to try this out.

Then I installed the tile backsplash (all by myself!). It’s called Boutique Ceramic Stone Hearth White 3-in x 12-in Glazed Ceramic Subway Wall Tile from Lowe’s. I absolutely love it!

The kitchenette is starting to come together. ❤️ We don’t have the water hooked up yet, but we will soon.

Now I’m brainstorming what type of open shelving and corbels I want to use in this space. I’m hoping to get those installed in the next week or so. But for now we are loving how cozy the pond house feels.🥰

I created a reel on instagram to share our little kitchenette, and I wanted to share it here on the blog too! I always love seeing videos of a space, don’t you?

And if you need them, I’ve shared all the affiliate links to the products in this space below…

Love and Blessings,

  1. The pond house kitchen looks beautiful … do you live in the house or is there another house on the property that you live in?
    Congrats Grandma!!!!

  2. So charming, warm, and cozy with a twist of retro in that cute fridge! I love those fireclay Deer Valley sinks. I have a small undermount in my laundry room and looking to put one in in our basement kitchen. I’ll have to check if they make a 27″ apron. Enjoy your new space! It’s really coming together!

  3. Congratulations on the new grandson! I have four now and they are such a joy! We’re putting a party barn on our property so this post is inspiring! Did you have to put in a septic system? That’s our dilemma right now. Thank you for sharing!
