The Pantry is Gone!!! {And the kitchen looks so much bigger!}

October 28, 2011 AT 10:44 am 49 Comments

We tore the pantry down, and I already love how it has opened up the kitchen and made it feel bigger.

Just roll your cursor on and off the picture, and you will see the before and after pictures of my kitchen.

What do you think?

Doesn’t it make the kitchen look so much bigger?

If you were unable to use the “mouseover” effect on the above pictures, here are the pictures posted separately…

AFTER (without the pantry):

Hello, from Pennsylvania!

October 28, 2011 AT 12:28 am 9 Comments

Well, it’s midnight.

I’m exhausted.

It was a very long drive up here to the Relevant Conference.

My sister drove as slow as Christmas very safely up here in the rain and fog.  Smile

I’ve taken a few pictures, but I am too tired to upload and edit them.

So I just want to tell you that I guest posted over at my precious blogfriend, Tonya’s great blog, Love of Family and Home.

She is doing a series called 31 days to Realizing His Love for You.

31days3

I shared the post I wrote about Dad and Janet getting married.  You can read it HERE.

I also wanted to share with you the great deal that Canvas People is offering again!

cp_0911_S24_fall-v1-430x600

Canvas People is an affiliate sponsor of Beneath My Heart.  If you purchase a canvas print through my blog link, I receive commission from the sale.

So THANK YOU!!!

I will hopefully be back tomorrow with some pictures from Relevant.  There are so many wonderful ladies here, and my sister and I are having a blast.

God bless!

Our DIY Life in a Nutshell!

October 26, 2011 AT 6:21 pm 19 Comments

Okay, I had to share these two pictures with you.

They sum up our life!

I made roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, and rolls for dinner the other night.

You would think that would look amazing.

But here is what it looks like at our house…

And here is Eli and Adam eating at the island while daddy tears down the pantry.

The look on Adam’s face says it all!

Worms are still crawling out of the can! {Video Update on our Kitchen makeover}

October 23, 2011 AT 7:15 pm 18 Comments

Hello!

Well, remember in my last kitchen post how I told you there was still ONE MORE THING I was going to tear down in my kitchen? (AKA: Busting Open A Can Of Worms?!)

I asked you if you could guess what it was.

corn maze 099

Some of you said the light in the middle of the room.  (And yes, we are going to do that, but that’s not it.)

Some of you said the island. (And yes, we are going to give the island a makeover with a new countertop and some corbels, but that was not it either.)

Some of you said put a new, bigger kitchen window over the sink.  (I would LOVE to do that, but we are unable to do that because where the window is located in the front of the house.)

And some of you said remove the pantry.

cousin eddie Bingo

I have to get rid of that pantry or make it smaller.  It just takes up way too much visual space on the left side of the room.

Here is a little impromptu video of our plans for the pantry.  (And it’s a video that proves why my blog will never win the “best videographers” award.) Smile

(If you are reading this in a reader, you may need to click on the post title to view the video on my blog.)

If you click on the symbol to the left of the word “vimeo” in the bottom right hand corner of the video screen, it will make the screen larger.

“Best DIY Projects” Highlights {And TGI Fridays Giveaway Winner}

October 22, 2011 AT 11:27 am 5 Comments

Happy Weekend, Friends!

I hope you had a wonderful week.  I spent my week subbing in third grade every day.  It was so much fun, but I have gotten seriously behind in my house work.

Oh well! Smile

We are planning on getting a little work done on the kitchen makeover this week, and I will share it soon.

Until then, I want to highlight some bloggers who linked up their projects to my “Best DIY Projects of September” party.

First up is Make Mine Vintage.  She (I couldn’t find her name on her blog.) made this cute little burlap pillow and shows you how to make it too!

If you visit her, take time to read through her blog.  She has pictures of her beautiful home and a page full of delicious recipes.  Be sure to say “hi!”

Since we are on the subject of burlap and pillows, you are going to love this next blog.  Check out these adorable polka-dot burlap pillows made by Jenny from Blue Sky Confections.

I couldn’t wait to share this Guest House Makeover Reveal by Susan from Maple and Magnolia!  There is so much charm in this guest house.

She has more beautiful pictures of her guest house that you will love looking at.  Susan lives in a beautiful farmhouse that makes me drool.  Smile

Christy, from Life, Made Interesting made the cutest little fall candy display with items from the dollar store.

Heading to Relevant 11 in less than a week!! I’m so excited!!!

October 20, 2011 AT 2:58 pm 14 Comments

I cannot believe it has been a year since I attended Relevant 10!

Time truly does go by faster when you are older.  Smile

I am WAY more excited about going this year than last year.

Mainly because I cannot wait to meet my blog buddies.

Last year, I made some of the greatest connections with some of the greatest people I know.

Last year, I got to meet Tracy at lunch the first day. We had never met before, but we instantly hit it off.  She is a cut up like me, and has the same sarcastic humor that I do.

I snagged this picture off her blog…

IMG_3140

I swear, I love this girl.  We have talked on the phone several times this past year, and she has prayed for me through some difficult circumstances.  She is a blessing in my life.

I haven’t seen her in a year, and I cannot wait to hug her neck again!

Another lady I cannot wait to see is Darlene, from Fieldstone Hill Design.

IMG_5048_2-1

I loved this girl from the get-go!  She is bursting with joy and personality.  It’s contagious!

We’ve become even closer through our blogs, and she inspires me in so many ways.

I recently just joined her Master Designer blog list.  You can read more about it HERE.

I will also get to see Melissa and Nester this year.

(Here is a picture of us at Blissdom 2 years ago.)

IMG_5461_thumb

Nester’s precious sister, Emily is going to be there.  She is the very gifted author of Grace for the Good Girl and the blog Chatting at the Sky.

emily-freeman-Relevant-300x200

She will be sharing in these sessions:

Hands-On Writing II – Insider Tips

Hands-On Writing III – Super Awesome Small Group Critiques

So, You Want a Book Deal – All Your Traditional Publishing Questions Answered

And my good buddy, Sandy, whom I adore, is going to be one of the Relevant speakers as well.

sandy

Her sessions include:

Unveiling the Numbers-Everything You Want to Know About Growing Your Blog & Making Money

How Jenga Skills Translate to Real-Life: Blogging and Keeping Integrity with Your Family

She blogs at Reluctant Entertainer.

I am also very excited about meeting my blog designer for the first time.

Darcy, from Graphically Designing.

web-darcy-apr11-2-224x300

I am FOR SHO gonna be at her photography session:
Making the Most of Your Camera

I am dying to see Dee again!!! She is the creator of Red Letter Words and has been my faithful sponsor for a very long time.  I LOVE Dee!!!

dee2x3

There are so many other people that I cannot wait to see again, but I would be here all day writing this post if I were to include them. Smile

I cannot wait to make some new blog friends too.  If you are going to Relevant, and read my blog, please let me know in the comments so I can visit your blog.

BUT THE VERY BEST THING ABOUT

GOING TO RELEVANT 11 IS….

corn maze 074

I’M GOING WITH MY SISTER!!

We get to ride in the car together for many hours and catch up on life, and talk about girly things.  We get to eat lots of good snacks on the way there, and I usually try to leave a lot of crumbs in her car. Smile

We laugh, and laugh, and laugh.

She is good for my soul!

I am so grateful that I am going to get to go to Relevant again this year.  I will be sure to share with you all the amazing stuff I learn this year.

If you want to read what I learned last year, click HERE.
