A Day Full of Emotions!

Today was an interesting day.

A day full of emotions.

This morning, I attended the funeral of my sweet Uncle Tip.  He was a wonderful man of God, and we will miss him terribly.  My son, Jonathan, sang “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace” at the funeral.  He felt so honored to be asked to sing at such a special occasion.

And just like my mom’s funeral, I was reminded once again of how short life is.  How  we cannot take anything with us when we die.  And how the only thing that really matters in this life is Jesus and our relationship with him.

I am so thankful that Uncle Tip knew what really matters in life.  Though he will be missed, we were able to celebrate that he wasn’t suffering anymore, and that he is now with Jesus in Heaven.  What a blessing!

After the funeral, I headed to the hospital to see my niece give birth to her first child.  (My mom’s first great grand child.)

She had a c-section and gave birth to a precious baby boy, Colt.   There were lots of tears.  Tears of  joy to see the precious miracle that God had created.

Isn’t he precious?!

So I am officially a GREAT Aunt!  And my sister is a grandma!  She wrote the sweetest letter to baby Colt today.  You can read it HERE.

I know we are going to treasure this new addition to our family.  ‘Cause I love boys!  {wink}

I am emotionally exhausted.

And yet at the same time, my heart is overflowing with thankfulness for this life that God has given me.

God is good, All the time.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

1 There is an occasion for everything,
and a time for every activity under heaven:

    2 a time to give birth and a time to die;
a time to plant and a time to uproot; [a]

    3 a time to kill and a time to heal;
a time to tear down and a time to build;

    4 a time to weep and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn and a time to dance;

    5 a time to throw stones and a time to gather stones;
a time to embrace and a time to avoid embracing;

    6 a time to search and a time to count as lost;
a time to keep and a time to throw away;

    7 a time to tear and a time to sew;
a time to be silent and a time to speak;

    8 a time to love and a time to hate;
a time for war and a time for peace.

  1. So sorry to hear about your uncle but what a joy to know that he is safe in the arms of Jesus tonight.

    That little nephew of yours is adorable!!!!! And that little scrunched up face is just precious!!

    Have a wonderful weekend, Traci!

  2. While you have went through an emotional and tolling day Jesus and your mom were with you. With sadness followed happiness. Congratulations on your new nephew Colt. He looks absolutely perfect. Can’t wait for you to share stories about your times with him. How lucky is he to come into a family that already loves and adores him?

    Have a great weekend.

  3. Colt is beautiful! God is good . I am so sorry to hear about your Uncle. I need to say Thank You as well. I haven’t felt myself the past few days….you know just stressed. Well, I have had Turn,Turn, Turn by The Byrds in my head all day. Then i read your post and there is Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. I think someone is talking to me. ;) I should listen. I feel better all ready. Thanks.

  4. Awww, sweet Traci, what a blessed day – two homecomings, just different homes! I’m thrilled for you, but especially your sister. I can’t begin to tell you the joys of being a grandmother – beyond anything I could’ve ever imagined. What lies before her is beyond special. And Colt is just gorgeous!

  5. Traci

    So sorry for the loss of your uncle. I know today was filled with sadness and joy. The angels were singing as they welcomed one home and welcomed Colt into life. What a blessing.

    I love that scripture from Ecclesiastes 3:1-8; Proverbs 3:5-6 happens to be my other favorite.

  6. Traci, my heart goes out to you and your loved ones for the loss of your loved one. At the same time, I am rejoicing for your new great nephew, Colt. He is beautiful. I will be praying your neice has a speedy recovery while loving on that sweet baby boy. Thanks so much for sharing this post.. It meant alot to me in my own life. One more thing… I make my great nephews and neices call me GREAT AUNT TINA.. lol.. It just has a great ring to it and is so funny when they are older and they come to you and say it… It is a special thing to be a GREAT Aunt… ENJOY and Blessings to you and yours…

  7. You experienced the circle of life in one short day. I’m sorry for the loss of your uncle, but you know you will see him again in Heaven. That sweet baby boy blessed you with joy after such a sad day.

  8. I’m just so glad to have found your blog. My heart and desires are the same…only my four are much older and my fourth is a girl! I’m also just getting started on the “project” thing and have just received some chalk paint. I need to take a big breath and start working on this house to get it ready to sell when my girl leaves for college next year. Bless your heart and your days,

  9. Wow, surely a huge swing of emotions in one day yet, the wheel turns. One life on Earth leaves to make room for another who enters this world. Little Colt’s picture made me chuckle “Get that yucky taste out of my mouth! Quick.” How cute!

  10. It is amazing to me, how the Lord, many times sees fit for one life to be finished with this world, and then on the other hand, He’s ready for another precious life to just begin. He is a Wonderful Lord and it is so wonderful to know Him and to meet people like you and your family who know Him as well! I am so happy for you all! Colt is precious!

  11. Dear Traci, I’m so sorry that you lost your dear Uncle. The Sweet Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. I picture your Precious Mama welcoming your Uncle to heaven just as your family welcomes the new life God has given you with Colt. He’s such a beautiful baby. Congratulations to you all. Colt is very blessed to be born into such a loving family.

    Hugs…Tracy :)

  12. Wow, this has been quite a roller-coaster day of emotions for you and your family. I too can picture your Mother welcoming your Uncle into the gates of Heaven. And that precious newborn baby….is there anything sweeter on this earth? Savor every moment with him, as I know you do with your own boys. It’s too bad that Colt has no possibility of ever being spoiled!! :))) My Heartfelt Sympathy and my equal Congratulations to you

  13. Just listened to Jonathan singing “Starry Night” and will be showing the video to my 11 year old son, who has a beautiful voice, too, but is so scared to do anything with it! What confidence Jonathan has! Not to mention a gorgeous voice! : )

    I loved this post…a celebration of life…of one full, godly life at its end, and one just beginning. An emotional roller coaster for sure!

    Colt is beautiful! Heading over to Cyndi’s to congratulate! Congratulations to YOU, great aunt! :
