Prayer for the New Year

I’m not one to make New Year’s Resolutions.  I’m notorious for breaking them in the first few days.  :)

But I do LOVE setting goals for myself…things I want to focus on in the coming year.  Spending more time in God’s word is always my number one focus at the beginning of each new year.

Why?

Because I have usually lost my focus numerous times throughout the year, and it is always time for me to get back on track.

Developing a relationship with God is NOT easy.  It never has been.  But of course, no relationship in our lives that is worth fighting for is ever easy, right?

We just have to keep plugging along.  Keep on focusing and re-focusing.

You know the saying, “If you don’t feel close to God, guess who moved?”  :)  That’s me a lot of times.  God is always there, longing a relationship with me.  It’s just that I am always moving around in a ton of different directions and not keeping Him my number one priority.  I am so thankful for GRACE.  I am so thankful that God never gives up on me.

I have been doing a online bible study this week with 500 other women (Not kidding!  That is how many women have joined our facebook group!) and today I read a prayer that my mom had written in the back of her bible.

I loved it and wanted to share it with you.  It is my prayer for the new year.  May it be yours as well.

  2. Love the prayer! I think “relationship” means having accepted Jesus as our Savior, we then have a relationship with God as His children. Our relationship with God, as our Father, doesn’t change. (A parent is always a parent, even when the child leaves.) Fellowship, on the other hand, is our working with God in our daily lives. We can break our fellowship with Him, but He is always there ready to begin again with us!
